wow, this beats the shit out of Gcombat. I Like CDS a lot better
don't be so quick to insult GCombat, Q42 put a lot of work into GCombat, and you should thank him for that, CDS is a bit clunky for me, because you have to generate the ammo from the start, it doesn't come with a preset amount, like GCombat. I mean come on, shouldn't all ammo caches come with SOME preset amount of ammo? It would make making ships a bit less strenuous, for me anyway.
I am having the exact same problem as solzay. I love CDS, but prop protection is more important.
and CDS's equivalent is Gcombat/GCX, which are better in my opinion, since I use all 3, I can honestly say that the GCombat/GCX combo is way better, though I do like the press E to fire aspect of CDS.
Ok, I have a problem and I think it's CDS that's causing it. Sometimes, if I load a savegame of something I've been working on, I get lua stool errors (normally 93 or 94). I noticed the other day, it didn't happen with a particular save until after I tried to load it, having shot one of the props by accident with a pistol, with CDS disabled. Any ideas?

Can the first post clarify what the CDS techs do, and how to use them? For example, does the temperature regulator have an area of effect, and, if so, how far? How do you produce the strength resource for space shields?

Bullet damage still does not work. The only way of making bullet damage work is if you do CDS_enabled 0. Not even CDS_SpawnProtect 0 works.
I'm glad this is a quite active team, I can rest easy knowing that a recent update has made the the addons from the SB2 team compatible with Gmod 07'.

College exams?
College exams?
Yep, those are the ones.
Glad to see this is still being worked on. Too few cool mods are coming out these days.
What folder do I extract this into?
Addons, but you should use SVN instead.
ok, Snake, this is my burning question, what is exactly MOTIVATING you to continue this mod? Fan-base? Competition? Grudge against GCombat? For fun? What is your motivation?
I'll get this if Tiberium support is added. I really wants my tiberium weapons.
I'm curious, what happens when parented props get hit with this or gcombat? or does that work at all ?
I'm curious, what happens when parented props get hit with this or gcombat? or does that work at all ?
They take damage but won't move exept if the parent does.

So, just to make sure, this will NOT inter conflict with GCombat or GCX, amirite?
So, just to make sure, this will NOT inter conflict with GCombat or GCX, amirite?
It shouldn't interfere. They both use a different system.
Some info about a planned update(especially for other devs) The LS2, SB2 and CDS Core will experience some rather large updates. Some of these updates might cause compatibility problems with the addons made before these updates. We will try to make it as backwards compatible as possilbe, but this probably won't be possible in some of the changes. Just to let you know already what's to come.
I don't really understand temperature sensors and regulator. Snake can you give me just a little explanation please? To protect props from temperature damage I need just to put the temperature regulator linked to an energy source or do I need sensors linked to a regulator too? What is the radius of the regulator and sensors? Sensors detect state only of the props they are welded to? What does heat value mean? I thought it should be temperature. I made a little testing scenario on a planet. I welded several phx glass, plastic and metal plates together, put the regulator and sensors on it along with one small resource cache and attached it by two sliders onto something so it slided to space and back displaying values on screens. But it got broken and scattered around so many times that I gave up testing quickly :) One thing I know - the energy usage of that regulator is huge! And when I turn on the sensors too, the resource cache is empty nearly in seconds :o

And when I turn on the sensors too, the resource cache is empty nearly in seconds :o
Sensors will only give you information about the prop they are welded to, they require a certain amount of energy (the more info the sensor provides, the more energy it uses). The temperature regulator needs 2 resources: erergy and coolant. The consumption of these depends on how much all props in it's readius get heated up or cooled down. It has a radius of about 512, but the usage depends on the radius. A couple of exemples: 1. prop is between 0 and 128 radius, this means that the prop will be cooled down or heated up equaly to what was needed. 2. prop is between 128 and 256 radius, this means that the prop will only be cooled down/heated up half the speed of the normal, but still require the same amount of resources to do it. 3. prop between 256 and 512, same as 2, just instead of it being /2 it's /4 now. That's abot how it works. It might change in the next version. But that will depend on what people want.
ok thanks, but what does "heat" value on the sensor stand for? What value should it have when in normal temperature (288K)? And 0 means the prop is not being damaged?
ok thanks, but what does "heat" value on the sensor stand for? What value should it have when in normal temperature (288K)? And 0 means the prop is not being damaged?
Heat is the temperature value of the prop itself. The value of it in normal temperature will be around 15. If it's 0 then a prop definetly won't be damage, but the value is a bit more extended then that. Every Entity has a safe zone in which it can be in. Players: safe between -50 and 70) Entities: safe between -(120 + (armorvalue * 3.5)) and 250 + (armorvalue * 6) Exemple: armorvalue = 1 => safe between -123.5 and 256 Edit: Another note: Heat will first damage the armor and only after that the health.
I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem.. I tried searching the thread, but I don't feel like looking through eight pages for one specific problem. Anyway. The temperature sensor and regulator don't work. I've got RD2 and LS2, and I load up the SB2 gamemode, but when I try to turn on the Temp Sensor, it gives me some error-sounding beep, and turns off. (I tried it in space, as well as in atmosphere.) The temp regulator, as I recall, doesn't beep or anything; just doesn't work. Neither one give Lua error codes, either.. maybe I'm doing something wrong? (I need to talk the RD guys, too.. the supply connector isn't working, either.)
