The difference is that MOOCOW allows for a bit more customization. That's the goal of the mod. It's also generally more efficient (I think, it's been a while since I've taken a good look at ULX).
Ummm actually if you know what you are doing ULX is more customizable. Along with the wealth of plugins to be used at you wish. Also it is efficient enough. You wouldn't know the difference in efficiency, it is so small.
I am sorry to say i am ONLY using ULX as of now. Due to it having everything i requested you to make. Exactly how i wanted you to make it.
Sorry
Depends on your definition of customizable. I don't count pointless plugins as customizable. Also, use what you will, it really doesn't make that big of a difference to me, use what you think is best.
Could you make a full list of what is customizable?
Could I yes, will I, probably not. I honestly don't care to start an argument about what admin mod is better in here and since that is the only thing that I can see coming from this, I won't. Use what you will.
No, the customization seems to be one of the strongest points of this mod and I am honestly interested in all of its details.
Whether it's your intent or not, it will happen, whatever:
-Customizable teams
--customizable output - display messages as well as where/how it displays (and to whom)
--Inheritance system that allows for branching
--No hard coded teams other than client
-Massive settings changes - there's a setting for almost anything someone could want (within the parameters of the existing plugins)
Admittedly that's a short list, but understand that most of those items apply to all of the plugins, not just one. I listed only a few plugin specific features largely because MOOCOW is designed around it's core, not it's extremities. I won't be digging up every customization possibility there is in the mod, but like I said, there's a setting for almost everything. The idea to appeal to a wide variety of users, allowing each of them to use what they want when they want to and have it work in the way that they desire. If someone has a request on an alteration for a plugin, chances are I'll make a setting for the new functionality. It's that, that I appeal to.
I wasn't really going to mention it (largely because I don't know if I'll even finish it [due to schoolwork]), but I'm actually working on a complete overhaul to MOOCOW. The reasoning behind it is to add even more customization and flexibility to it, as well as to remove 50% of all plugin code in favor of a more universal plugin system. As of yet, I've designed very little for it, however one of the key components that will be featured (and that I've already completed) is a universal parsing system. It will parse any file based on the tabbed structure of it. Rather than writing 175ish lines for a team parser and another 100 for every other parser I need, I'm going to use a more standardized approach.
Meh.
Hey turck, you're really cool.
Yeah i found it. Meatier means less skeletal. thanks. Switched to this because ulx is playing up
dont use ULX svn unless you want to mess up your server
dont use ULX svn unless you want to mess up your server
Why not? I'm using it and I love it! It's simple and doesn't come with any extras I don't need. It's powerful and has commands for pretty much anything you might need to do on your server. It's also extremely easy to use thanks to it's auto-completition features.
Just saying, but maybe you should tell us why installing ULX is such a bad idea.

I'd actually much prefer we all not bother trying to argue what mod is best and just accept the fact that some people will use one and some people will use another.

What he said has nothing to do with what admin mod is better.
What he said has nothing to do with what admin mod is better.
No, but it is derailing the original purpose of the thread... speaking about his release, MooCow Admin Mod.
I'm reasonably sure Turck3 wouldn't mind suggestions of why someone might think <insert admin mod> is better if he could gain ideas/suggestions that he may just wish to put into his own admin mod.
Or, as I've often been having to do with the a mod I'm a part of... explain the feature is available and how to use or where to get it.
Seems the latter is much more than actual new ideas lately.

Indeed.
Ok. Ive looked at the FAQ and how to use this with DarkRP server and I really dont understand this "command_sequence" command. Cant I just disable this function completly?
You don't have a no limits feature yet, I know a lot of people prefer ASSMod simply because it has that feature.

No. It allows chat commands, just type:
'command_sequence !' (without the 's) in your settings.txt and you're set. From that point on though you need to type !<command name>, so, '!slap rev' would be valid.

Indeed. I have planned in the past to do that, and one day, hopefully, I will.

Garry clearly says do not use this add-on.

Sorry i was just notinng that it wasn't ULX's fault the SVN of ULX is meant ONLY for use of testers.
It commonly wont present a problem, unless you do more advanced stuff. Yet they are currently doing many changes.
Sorry for being offtopic
Great mod, but I'm having a problem. Whenever I have this installed no one is able to switch view in vehicles. So you're stuck with either 1st person or 3rd person.
Also, are you going to be making a map change plugin?
EDIT: Also, it seems to make gStream stop working. You can't add songs to the playlist.
I have heard people getting that 3rd person error, I'm honestly not certain what is causing it... my apologies
As for the map change plugin (and why I also won't be fixing the above error), I will be creating MOOCOW v2 over the next.... indeterminably long time (essentially whenever I'm not loaded with work).... so with any luck the new version will not have the error and I will likely add map change in with the base set of plugins.....
Note: in the mean time, you can change the map by using the perform command.... example:
/perform server changelevel gm_flatgrass
in chat would cause the server's map to change to gm_flatgrass.

OK, thanks! I may try removing some addons and see if anything is conflicting. I'll tell you if I find anything.
[editline]11:28PM[/editline]
Hmm. I just disabled every addon besides the default stuff and moocow. The problem is still there... Must be some kind of client side thing.
Indeed, it is a confirmed bug, I do not know what is causing it however, and seeing as MOOCOW v2 is on the way, do not believe it necessary to fix, however, should anyone have any ideas as to what would be causing this, I would be happy to look into it.
Will it be a complete rewrite?
I'm currently using Citrus on my server, and I'm considering using this admin mod instead. I'm unsure though.

Most likely... but I may use some of the old code... probably not for the core though. Since it got the biggest complaint, the GUI will be more of a focus this time, I do intend to have several GUIs to choose from at initial release, so hopefully that will cover all the bases.

Good news everyone
I've done some bug fixing these last couple days....
Changes:
1. Prop protect setting added - prop_protect_activate
2. Fixed a server console bug
3. Fixed the issue with not being able to switch between 1st and 3rd person
4. Fixed speed, jump, and god, so that players don't need to specify parameters to cause it to happen to themselves
5. Fixed a rocket glitch where if you called rocket on the same person twice at once, their effects wouldn't disappear
6. Removed fall damage to users with jump enabled
7. Added the map command to teams.txt
8. Added a delay parameter to the map command (in minutes)
9. Misc other bugs that were found...
Relevant info will all be documented on the wiki shortly.
Can you add infinite ammo too ?
Can I, yes, will I in v1, no, perhaps in v2.
The current, official, MOOCOW v2 thread can be found here.... note, it's not even close to finished yet, however if you want to contribute ideas, that's the place to go. I'd prefer that all comments in regards to v2 are kept to that thread and that this one remains a bug report area for v1.
Great job with the admin mod. I'm also an citrus user, but I will consider this admin mod.
Please don't make the GUI to messy in v2. I would like it more functional than flashy (flashy,as in a McDonald's commercial *sad* )
