@Kogitsune - Thanks, actually having someone explain something instead of just go 'rabble rabble rabble that is bad' is nice :D - I'll fix that. @badbadmin - If you looked at the wiki on the GUI display page, it clearly states +moocow_gui @executed rat - good try.
How come I dont have nearly as many options in my menu? I dont even have enough for a scroll bar to come on. www.gmod-strangers.co.uk/menu.png

EDIT: fixed but why isnt my name green in the scoreboard well on my Go fish server my name usually had "Teh owner" next to it, how do I make it do that.
Good job, I'm using it on my server now
Oh god it's back
@Samwiki -- It's because I never bothered to write a scoreboard -- I'll get around to that in a few weeks after finals -- in the mean time, if you find any actual bugs I'll fix those as soon as I see them @CanadianBill -- Thanks :D @Overv -- Not needed.
Oh god Overv is back
Over time my friends have gotten unruly on my listen server. i tryed ASS and ULX, and really didnt like either of them. So i decided to try moocow, i got the install done, and i configured the users.txt file, to this exactly STEAM_0:0:20360699 Owner Andpie1 And when i run a Gmod server it still sees me as a Client level user, not owner Does any1 know why this doesn't work?
Type "status" in console, when on server, then copypaste it here.
Type "status" in console, when on server, then copypaste it here.
I know thats my Steam ID, i checked twice.
Is there usergroup client at a default value?(I don't use the mod so I wouldn't know =/)
Client would be the default value, but you override it in users.txt If you're using a dedicated server, try entering "moocow adduser <name> owner", if not, reread the wiki and ensure you followed the correct steps. Also, make sure that you have a teams.txt file that has the owner team, if there isn't one in your data/moocow/ folder, ensure that you have the one provided in the SVN.
Ugh, so much file editing - why can't you make a gui to control it all?
Ugh, so much file editing - why can't you make a gui to control it all?
How about you shut up and stop whining? This ain't ULX. This is a simple thing. If you cant just plug and play then go to ULX and deal with going through 1000 processes. In fact, the only mod (OVERV you fail seriously, NewAdmin just sucks) other then this is ASSMod. And still, ASSMod has a half crippled GUI. -Ontopic This is THE shit. Simple GUI, no over complex gay minge commands list, or any of that shit. A nice little thing, and no need for overcomplex configuring. Simple, easy, and i got this up is two minutes. I don't even know a single line of LUA, and this works better then any mod (Barley standing over ASSMod tho :\ lacking a tad bit options). Edit: Just a small problem configuring the settings.txt, as i fail at configuring everything. command_sequence <new message>, do i put in anything for <new message> or just paste it like that? No listen server, its a nice purchased server from UKGames.com :D
lol at you. Admit it, what looks better?
Gotta say MOOCOW's, its simple and easy. Plus, idk why, but your shit fucking fails. I set up 3 servers, 2 dedicated and a listen. I put 3 of the best coders i could find, and gave them NewAdmin. None could figure out how the hell to work your system, and one guy helped design the DarkLand Servers RolePlay, and the other helped with PERP. The third one is a simple guy, and he was on the listen server. He's minor at LUA. No one could figure out how to set up admins, the code proved corrupted in alot of ways, its full of bugs, and i think i got a siezure looking at your Cliche menu. MOOCOW is original, i want you to find me a mod with a GUI and short codes like that. Btw, just sat through the whole wiki and set up every single settings.txt command. You may download the file here. Upload into your garrysmod/data/moocow. Saved ya all about 10 minutes. Every single command. In there. Edit: Can i request a MOTD plugin to link with this? Thanks.
:ughh: They obviously don't know how Garry's Mod even works. You tell me your Lua coders don't know how settings/users.txt works? :downs: God, all these MOOCOW fans are like Halo fanboys.
This mod's name makes me miss the old days of Facepunch. There was a user named Moocow, not sure if he's still active. He made really nice things in Gmod, he made giant walking castles and ships that make you drop down to 2fps. Aside nostalgia, we don't need another admin mod. ASSmod works fine.
@thomasfn - There is a GUI, but you need to manually add yourself as an admin for the first time, and the first time only. @Odahilys - Please don't start conflicts with Overv, he lives to troll when he's antagonized. As for the command_sequence, just put anything you like after it, like so: command_sequence ! would make ! the command entry character. @Overv - The opinions of others and how they may attempt to antagonize you is not my business until you decide to troll here again, please leave this thread alone; I will do what I can to quiet those who speak out against you, but it is there opinion and you must respect it as I respect those who like your mod better. I don't want you to post about your mod in my thread, if they want to see it, they will find the proper thread and view your comments there. I don't go trolling around your thread, show me the same respect. @Odahilys - You misinterpret the settings.txt file -- it is there so that you can alter default functionality, it is not needed, and having <new message> in brackets will make the messages you see in game rather lacking in information. Trust me when I say, you don't want to override *anything* in settings.txt unless you have a good reason to do so. If you want to change the messages, I allow that because you may have something more official/funy/whatever, but I wouldn't go advertising a file with the copy pasted lines from the wiki. Also, as for the last line where you said # or // make it commented out, that's not exactly true. What happens is, the file saves into a table, the left as an index the right as the data, (left and right of the space that is), by adding a # or // you change the name of the setting and thus "comment it out", you could really add any character you like, anywhere in the name and get the same effect. Nothing you put in settings.txt is checked for a name or command type when you load the mod, only things that exist in the table get used.
@Overv - I was proven wrong... It does work... Somehow, for some reason, all of our servers suddenly lost the settings and data folder. We were DDOSed twice 3 days ago, but we seems to fix it. The listen server did not support NewAdmin, what a shame :< @turck3 - Overv needs to be put back in place, don't give a shit if he is gmod.com admin. As for the settings, i am aware of that. Just made the file for easy access to ALL the commands, instead of going to the wiki. You know, you could have used this file in your next update to make it easier then copy pasting all those settings. Again, really needs a motd. I *personally* love motds. I am unable to locate a motd system other then the ULX and ASSMod plugins. If you can, please write a motd where ! or / motd calls it up for the client, etc. Same for NA, if it already doesn't have a motd. ( I think it doesn't )

@Odahilys - Please don't antagonize him. The file is unnecessary because most users do not want to nor do they have a need to use settings.txt, it's there so that they *can* alter settings should they like, but it's above most user's heads anyway, hence it being optional. As for the MOTD, I can see about adding one, I havn't played gmod in a bit, but I'm not really doing anything else, so I might as well.... with any luck it'll be added before the weekend (depending on finals and crap) @Overv - this topic is about MOOCOW, if you don't have something to say about it that isn't related to slander or your spite towards someone else on this thread, then I would appreciate you're not commenting; handle your personal disputes through PMs.
Your fans are offending me.
It is a project that I created in order to replace the old, dying, and poorly coded other admin mods for gmod, including ULX, ASSMod, and New Admin.
It's like saying "lulz... pepsi rulz but coke sucks" on TV remove that if you want some respect from the creators.
Ive loaded this mod onto my server and I cannot figure out how to add users via the users.txt file perhaps a light description on how to do this may help new users. Secondly it would be nice if you added a chat command like /menu to open the admin menu, Finally where are your plugins located or are there currently none in existance. I have to agree with unduh on the above statemnt.
@Overv - I'm trying to stop them from antagonizing you, but I cannot force their hands, handle such matters via PM if you must @unduh - I thought I had already removed all names of other mods from such comments, it has been edited. @blacksythe1 - Read the wiki. The /menu command is a possibility, I'll look into it tomorrow.
I thought MOOCOW had chat commands. Meh. I had an idea: an "Alias" plugin. You can set aliases for commands, for example, "gtfo" would be an alias for "ban", etc. 100% user customizable.
1. MOOCOW has chat commands, just not one to open the GUI :P 2. The alias thing sounds cool, as with the MOTD and the /menu command, I will look into it.
If you do a motd, make it user editable via a gui rather than file editing. Use datastream for that. (Not trolling, that was a serious suggestion.) Edit: Yay 1000 posts!
