wow, server just crashed.
For whatever reason whenever I see a brood alien I get really loud and become a really bad black stereotype, it started as a joke, but now I can't stop.

Could we possibly get a download to the weapons and maybe the hud?
Could we possibly get a download to the weapons and maybe the hud?
Nope.
Nope.
Dawh :disappoint:
Gamemode looks pretty AMAZING!
Hey there, Remscar. A few friends and me have been playing your gamemode for the past few days, and we've been finding it exceedingly fun. As much as I know that it peeves you that I'd mention it, we're all pretty big TTT fans (I've probably put nearly a thousand hours into it), and I'm pretty convinced that Morbus could almost replace my desire to play TTT entirely. I do have a few suggestions though. 1 - Adding in new skill trees for Humans. As someone had said earlier, it almost feels like being a human isn't quite as rewarding as being a Brood. Adding a skill tree for humans that allow them to get helpful gameplay augmentations might add incentive to take down Swarms and Broods with with extreme discretion. Possible perks might extend the needs timer by %50, making it possible to ignore the need, for at least a little while. Another perk might be that you reduce the range from which you can be scented by %15. Excetera. 2 - Put more rifle spawns in. I haven't seen a single sniper rifle yet, which is incredibly disappointing for me as it's my calling in nearly all games. 3 - Maybe you could include some overall benefit for playing certain species on Morbus. Like a seperate skill menu called "Traits", which you can buy with either Brood mutation points or Human experience, which builds up as you play and win rounds as either, so then the next time you're a human or a brood you have a bit of a leg up from the beginning. These are just ideas I'm tossing out with that I think would be fun to toy with. I'm not too devoted to any of them other than the rifles. I seriously want a rifle.

If everybody had their own traits from the get-go then I can see the experience becoming a bit more tactical, but that would require everything be available straight away without having to work for them. So it's either giving people everything from the start or not having traits at all. But I agree with your other points. Though putting in a sniper rifle would mostly be totally useless since aliens either sprint at you or attack from behind, plus the maps are a bit too claustrophobic for such a weapon.
Though putting in a sniper rifle would mostly be totally useless since aliens either sprint at you or attack from behind, plus the maps are a bit too claustrophobic for such a weapon.
I will kill you and hide inside your carcass for three days if that's what it takes to get my rifle. Nah, in all seriousness I believe that weapons are about personal preference and tactics over anything. In TTT I often see snipers (though admittedly failures) picked off with Mac10's at incredible distances, and then I myself have killed '249 and Mac10 users with my rifle in CQC in the first shot off of a 180. (Not trying to brag here, just using it as an example.) So I think that after some adjusting I can be just as effective with the rifle in this game mode. (Even if it doesn't have needle point accuracy even when you're not scoped in x3) Thanks for the response though. Hopefully I'll see you on the server sometime ^^
A few of my friends and I have been playing on the server recently. I actually played with Sheo last night, and I remember seeing Rem on there earlier. It's a fun game mode, and I can't wait to see what else you do with it. I really like the original weapons, very nice. And having glowsticks use your medkit slot is clever too. A minor problem I've found is that when playing as an alien, many times I find killing people easier if I just shoot them. Better range, I don't have to get close to the person, etc. I'm thinking if you reduced the damage Brood Aliens do with their weapons (and made the aliens aware of this at the beginning of a round to avoid confusion), players would be forced to rely on their alien forms more. EDIT: Also, dat crowbar animation as an alien.
@Suggestion for human traits Roles are going to be added, which are randomly assigned to humans at start of round which give strengths and weakness. Like security guard, scientist, civilian, ect. Bonus move speed, less attack damage, less recoil, more need timer, more weight carried, ect. @Sniper Rifles I thought of it but decided otherwise. There is no reason to use a sniper rifle in a game like this. Also sniper rifles don't really fit the story of the game. You aren't trained soldiers, and you aren't military for the most part. Your in a mostly civilian spaceship/colony/compound and the only weapons there are short-medium ranged weapons. Small arms only, no snipers, no rocket launchers, no grenade launchers. This may be subject to change, however for sure, no snipers. If your sniping someone and they are in alien form then you are gonna miss, they move too fast. If you are sniping someone and they appear to be human, your RDMing 95% of the time. @Bonus to players who have played more than others Nope. The game is supposed to give everyone a clean, or nearly clean slate at the start of every round/map. By giving some players an advantage i am increasing their odds at survival. @Killing humans with guns as Brood Alien This is against the rules and you will be punished for doing this more than once or twice a map. The only times it is acceptable to do this is if the human is camping in a very hard to reach area, or they are one of the last 2 humans. @Aliens doing less damage with guns This is the first time i am publicly announcing this, Aliens already do less damage with guns than humans do. Its has been this way for a VERY long time, however nobody has noticed it yet. How much less they do, i will not tell you, but its enough that if the human is paying attention, they will win the gun fight. @Crowbar animation on alien attack Your welcome to make a better animation. My friend was telling me about using NPC models instead of player models and how to animate the properly for players. I have yet to mess around with it.
Is there some sort of karma system to enforce the rule of not shooting the human?
Is there some sort of karma system to enforce the rule of not shooting the human?
Maybe eventually.
ADFKJLBOS! Oh well. I guess I'll just have to stick with my Mars, orrr an F7... Or a G22.. Or.. Damn it, choices. Choices. That's one thing I think you definately got right. All of the weapons feel very different from each other, and personal taste makes each weapon very satisfying for different reasons. I personally like to take a G22 SMG and MAYBE a pistol like a USP, simply because I can move faster than others with the light load that I carry. That and the G22 is a sexy gun to begin with. I especially love the horizontal loading magazine. One last thing: I know the game mode is currently in development, but me and my friend here are part of a Garrysmod community that is a pretty damn cool place, with a ton of active members, and we were discussing hosting a Morbus server. Would it be possible to get a copy from you for us to host? With our pretty large player base (We normally run a TTT server that's 52nd on Game tracker, and an RP that's 33rd, as well as occasionally starting up a server to host different game modes on for our members.) we could probably attract a larger crowd to the game mode. I'm not sure about the rules of the Face-Punch forums, so I don't know if I can link the community publicly, but I can PM you the URL to our community's website if you'd like.

There are no "similar guns". For example if you like fast and accurate, the L2000 (something like that :X) is shoots fast and is pretty accurate, its only downside is a small magazine. The KA47 provides lots of stopping power and decent speed, but has higher recoil. The guns are very thought out. @Server If you can attract a larger crowd then you will attract a larger crowd to the current server. Morbus is currently closed to any new servers, until the current server has an average of 10 players per day. (Double what it is now) However, you are welcome to pay part of the server bill and have your communities name on the server's host name and/or load screen.

We had a very large crowd on it today, so I'll see what I can do to keep people from the community playing on the server. As for the part about paying part of the server bill and all that, I'll relay your message back to the community. I'm only a server admin on there, you see, so I cannot speak for the higher-ups on that part. Very much enjoying the game mode though. Shotgun + UMP = unbeatable combo. Dominates Mid to short range like nothing else, and makes me cry happily when I see a Swarm, and run towards it lovingly with my shotgun :'D

Maybe make it so guns can't do damage to a human once they have, say, 50% health? That way you can "soften them up" (assuming that's not also illegitimate), but you can't downright kill with guns.

I've had to deal with two camping bastards on the roof of the barracks in 'The Thing' map, who would RDM anyone who tried to climb up. An assault rifle was literally the only possibly way to bring them down. Besides, I'd prefer to keep my options open as a brood :<
