If it's against the rules, then why not restrict it from being done in the first place? Maybe make it so guns can't do damage to a human once they have, say, 50% health? That way you can "soften them up" (assuming that's not also illegitimate), but you can't downright kill with guns.
Good idea, however it would be lower, like 10%. And you could kill with guns if less then 3 humans are alive. IDK its potentially abusable.
Great gamemode, really looking forward to the future of this!
You can read my take on Morbus here at http://www.constructivenews.net/?p=1269
New server, less lag. 216.246.49.45:27016
Could you possibly make it so that aliens have an ability that makes it so that if they hit a human, the human's screen shakes? Now I'm not saying have it like a 20.0 earthquake kind of shake, but enough to temporairly deter the gun from the alien. I would suggest having this in level incriments of 5 or greater, so that it wouldn't be OP -Cheers Mate
why are you saying its against the rules for an alien to kill a human with a gun? wouldn't it make MORE sense if you gave the aliens a wide assortment of options to kill the humans?
why are you saying its against the rules for an alien to kill a human with a gun? wouldn't it make MORE sense if you gave the aliens a wide assortment of options to kill the humans?
The Brood Aliens job is to make more Brood Aliens, to spread their race. Killing with guns does not accomplish that.
Suggestions: - Nerf the broods killing power when combined with the offensive perks. It gets a bit Op when they can kill you in 3-4 hits with super speed attack rate. This combine with them jumping and weaving to evade your ark gets a bit... bleh. - Radios: Can be set to a channel and used to contact other persons who have a radio system. - Is it possible to add firing modes to the weapons? As well as possible avert the ammunition ID platform from obstructing your view when aiming down your sight on some weapons?

E+Right Click switches it. the ammo ID, ill try to mess with it. Some of the pistols are gonna be hard to work with.
Thank you!
Radios sound like a good idea, actually. You could do it like Space Station 13, where particular jobs have radios connected to other people with those jobs, to help accomplish them better. It'd be pretty useful to be able to lure someone in, like if the Security Guards are slightly better armed you could kill one and use the radio to ambush the other. Enhance the paranoia a bit, y'know? So a player will wonder if a call for help came from his friend or someone posing as him, and they'll have to make a split-second decision on whether to show up to help them or not.
Oh damn, you released the FGD, better grab it. Still having fun, still working on my map for this.
If you want to attract people to the server, why not post it in Games in Progress?

Game would become deathmatch. Or the ship. Remscar are you making an hardcore mode (sorry if you answered already)? Where it is easier to die?

I have planned on other modes which add other gameplay elements, hardcore mode is more then possible, however it seems like it would just make winning as humans even harder. (Its <15% they win atm)

I don't know where the server is located, but I'm located in Northwestern Washington State, and I get a ping of maybe 150ish on the server with 20+ playing, and the only lag I notice is sometimes the characters spazz out a bit - but there is no performance lag. Note that 150 ping is exceedingly good for me, considering I can join a server hosted from Seattle and have 100+ ping. And I only have a 15Mbit down connection.
Not really sure what your talking about, i never get problems like that, nor does anybody else.
Last night, me, and a large amount of other players were complaining of lag. Don't say "nobody gets lag" when last night you had to restart the server because lag was so bad. The restart didn't fix it. Where do you host from, because I have no connection problems to any other server until the Morbus server gets more than 8 players. Someone needs to make a map that can be creepy without being 100% dark (lighting theory and design such as glow from buttons, emergency lights, lamps, rather than being totally lit or totally dark)

And that gets very annoying. Now first off, last night was the first time any lagg was reported on the server. Lagg can be caused by many reasons. I restarted the server to see if that was the source of the lagg, it obviously wasn't. 95% of the time lag can't be fixed, or is near impossible to pinpoint the source. Not to mention some people complain about client side lagg, which i cannot control.
So I was banned for complaining about the lag that everyone else was complaining about too. I do like how instead of trying to fix what's wrong with your gamemode/server, you punish people who bring to light the errors you have. Funny, how everyone complained of lag before you joined, but as soon as you do, and you admit that you are lagging, and someone tells you that they're lagging, they are banned. Maybe you should learn to take criticism. And maybe, you shouldn't assume that the lag everyone is experiencing is something "out of my control". I enjoyed the gamemode, but honestly, the fact that if I complain about lag caused by your shit server host, and am banned for it, is plain stupid. Also, the fact that you won't release the gamemode, and leave it just for your server is hilarious, because the lag prevents a good group of people from joining, and it's the reason you average 5 players.
Oh I'm sorry, I don't give a fuck.
I have just lost all respect in this gamemode.

I've already switched server hosts once, because the other server was experiencing lag (Different type though). Then this new server was completely fine at first, no issues whatsoever, then seemingly out of nowhere it starts having issues when the number of players peaks over a certain amount. I have gone through the entire gamemode looking for expensive operations or things that could significantly slow down the server, and so far i have come up with none. While there are some things that i have optimized, nothing has really effected the problem. Ontop of that the other servers on the dedicated box that Morbus is hosted on are running fine according to what i have heard. It's really strange. Morbus CPU usage never goes anywhere above ~8% of the server capacity. RAM never peaks above a few hundred MB. Something i have noticed is the RAM usage has shot up since the server was first installed and began running. This may or may not be the cause of the lag. I have debugged umsgs, concerned that i am sending too many every second/tick/whatever. I optimized it, but it was not the source. Morbus related usermessages are not the source. Running too many loops on each player, there is quite a lot of that, however nothing that would slow down the server so much. I have even optimized 3 that were on the THINK hook to only run once every 0.1 seconds instead of every think. Still no change. So far i only have a few things to look into: 1. Using Global Variables (SetGlobalInt,SetGlobalFloat) somehow causes mass lagg when # of players gets too high (Currently i only use 3, roundsleft, roundtime, roundwinner) 2. The admin mod is causing a severe slow down (Modified version of evolve that uses Sourcebans, provided by TNS Gaming, however its on all their other servers) 3. Morbus is bottlenecked reading/writing to the harddrive. (Don't know why it would be reading/writing to harddrive) 4. Server FPS might be low. (I have to double check that FPSBooster is on and working, and has not crashed/bugged/whatnot) 5. Server is being DOS/DDOSed (Very unlikely since pings are fine) I have to test those and more, i have been working very hard over the past weeks to find what causes the lag, it might be the gamemode, is it likely that it is, no. It could be the servers, but i doubt that also. I am hoping that it is something small that i can fix somewhat easily. Rewriting a few functions, no problem, rewriting half the gamemode, that's a hill i don't want to cross. I have yet to get TV/RDP access to the dedi the server is currently running on, i've been busy and the owner of the box has been busier. This weekend my friend is going to let create a test server on his hex-core dedi and we are going to to a mass test and see if we can diagnose the problem. If it turns out that it is indeed the gamemode, him and I will be searching through it to find the problem.
I have to admit, Remmie, I really do appreciate the amount of detail you've let us in on your debugging. So often I see developers simply say "we're checking for possible problems." and that's the whole post, with absolutely no depth into what all they've checked. Even if the majority of their audience wouldn't know what three-fourths (if even that) of what they're checking means, I still think it's nice that the developers say what all they've tried (and how it reacted), so if nothing else, the audience knows they're not just lazing about. I hope you find your issue.
