Firstly, I have watched about the first 14 or so episodes of SGU, and so far, I love it. I wouldnt say I like it less than SG1 or SGA however, because as stated before, they are very different types of series. Although, where is the SGU DHD, so far I have only seen them use kino remotes. And before watching SGU, I thought kino was pronounced kine-o, but now know it is pronounced keen-o :D After thinking about this, Im gonna ask, why not include in this those ori gates someone made (with permission ofc). Your prob gonna say this isn't realistic, and never in stargate, but haey, neither was concept DHD. You could call it Concept ori gate. This is because after seing SGU, I though, well, the ancients built 3 types of gates seen so far - SGA SGU and SG1 Gate, why couldn't they create more. So, the ori would also be able to create gates as they are ancients that are just bad, so concept ori gate :D. Last time I had it (a while a go) it was a bit buggy and interferes with SOME CAP stuff, but hey, oh well. And you would also be able to assign that gate to the ori group. Just a nice addtion to the gate collection I thought. Also, why did the ancients go to pegasus from milky way. If they launched the Destiny from earth, this would show they where on earth before pegasus
They went to Pegasus because in Milky Way there was epidemic disease ... and yes they lived on Earth before Pegasus(Lantea - First Planet where Atlantis landed) ... but Ancients(Alterans) firstly lived in actual Ori Galaxy.(Stargate The Ark of Truth)
and what was this about the alterans daniel mentioned in one of the SG1 Episodes???
and what do you mean with this ??
Also, why did the ancients go to pegasus from milky way. If they launched the Destiny from earth, this would show they where on earth before pegasus, and what was this about the alterans daniel mentioned in one of the SG1 Episodes???
Alterans were the aliens from the ori galaxy, they split up into two groups, one became the ori, the others became the lanteans, who left the galaxy for the milky way. They launched destiny, did some weird shit, then after some time they left for pegasus because of a plague that was wiping them out. The first few seconds of SGA show Atlantis leaving earth. Also in a few short posts this thread will get to the "stargate timeline" phase again.
There is no SGU DHD in show. It never existed. Boba made it because he likes to texture. Ori gates would require new model (I doubt they could ever use ancient model). And idk if there is any separate model for them. Using retextured usual gates does not count. Alterans came from Ori galaxy and the first planet they landed on was Dakara. Then they spread the gates everywhere, and in mean time they found a "message" in background radiation, so they've built destiny and seed ships. I suspect, it happend a little bit AFTER going to pegasus (but still while they were on earth) - it would explain never gates (but scenarui guys said that they are older than pegasus gates so idk). Anyway, I prefer SGU style. It has perfect mix of humor, darkness, hope, technology, action, romance and it doesn't looks cartony or futuristic (like old Startrek, Farscape (hate it) or so) plus, in addition, you don't have to watch entire serie (just like with BSG) to understand what's going on :)
Farscape was awesome, only thing I didn't like was the whole [sp]using wormholes as weapons part[/sp]. That just sounded silly to me.
Woo! We're on topic again! :D However. I don't think ori are using stargates at all. They try to keep every single thing ancients have made in secret so their worshipers don't get suspicious about them being "real" gods. There's of course exception about supergates.

I don't think they would let other ppl travel on other world by gates and let their civilization grow up.

But ofc they should not technically advance.
Models and everything in this pack, you could just contact the person. http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=78930
Models and everything in this pack, you could just contact the person. http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=78930
This is an usual model with different textures. I don't think including it is a good idea. Even if it would be - textures would have to be redone to avoid including that model with shitty uvmap.

[editline]7th September 2012[/editline] Mij, why do you always rate my posts as "dumb" or "disagree"?
Anyways whats the point of having Ori Gate in CAP, if Infinity Gate is also not mostly used ...
The point is that many ppl say "we want that gate" but there is no decent modeler here to do them!

Okay, look... Ori don't have regular stargates. They want their worshipers to be as stupid as possible and they want them not use technology. They also don't use ancient technology. They only use supergates. Of course they sent an prior to milky way galaxy trough normal stargate, here comes the question: How did they do it? Maybe they built their own version of the stargate - very unlikely Maybe they unburied one of the milky way type gates they have buried after the ancients left because they want their worshipers to be as stupid as possible and they want them not use technology. - likely Maybe they have unburied one of the universe type gates! All i know is that milky way gate is built after the ancients came to milky way. So it's possible there are universe gates in the ori galaxy, burried ofc. [editline]7th September 2012[/editline] But, hey, i'm talking bullpoop. They sent the prior with the will of the Gods! Hallowed are the Ori!

If anyone would model the Ori Gate with decent uv maps and perhaps a baked normal I wouldn't mind texturing it... Although idk who would code it...
If anyone would model the Ori Gate with decent uv maps and perhaps a baked normal I wouldn't mind texturing it... Although idk who would code it...
What's so hard in copypasting Milky Way gate code and changing model?
What's so hard in copypasting Milky Way gate code and changing model?
The Milky Way model is created with different model parts meaning or the model should be an exact fit with the milky way model so everything is in place or the code should be really hard tweaked, either way changed will be required to make... There are lots of Ori Stargate concepts you could even use the bottom of the Ori WarShips as concept:
Daaamn, i would port so much good models from sketchup to blender to gmod, but i'm always stuck at compiling them to .mdl files. I wanted to make remote controlled stargate ships like the Ha'tak and Deadalus and Aurora but when i found good model and ported it and compiled, i get so wrong ingame physics model. But, yeah, RC ships would be awesome for space battles. I was going to make mini versions of CAP weapons too. :// [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Hey? So about porting stuff to GMod 13? I saw example of your "if GMod13() then" code.
if Gmod13() then if timer.Exists("Flicker1"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("Flicker1"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.Exists("Flicker2"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("Flicker2"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.Exists("RandomClose"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("RandomClose"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.Exists("LightThink"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Remove("LightThink"..self:EntIndex()) end else if timer.IsTimer("Flicker1"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("Flicker1"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.IsTimer("Flicker2"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("Flicker2"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.IsTimer("RandomClose"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Destroy("RandomClose"..self:EntIndex()); end if timer.IsTimer("LightThink"..self:EntIndex()) then timer.Remove("LightThink"..self:EntIndex()) end end
Couldn't you simply make autorun file that contains
timer.IsTimer = timer.Exists
That would fix shitload of code and make your life easier.

[editline]7th September 2012[/editline] Mij, why do you always rate my posts as "dumb" or "disagree"? [editline]7th September 2012[/editline] Can a gate be made for Gmod in 3dsMax? don't rate dumb, i haven't done anything for gmod before.
Can a gate be made for Gmod in 3dsMax?
yes, it can
yes, it can
thank you
Hi I didn't mean to start an argument, I just thought the ori gates would make a nice addition, no matter about all this texture problems. The point is, it looks fine, no matter how messy the texture or coding is. But hey, it was just an idea :D
@cartman300, dude, you just take file, compile it to source and you expect that physics will work? lol. Havok engine (like every single physics engine) require simple physics - it means that you have to create new, low poly model of your current model only from simple convex primitives (cone, box, etc.) attach them together and set to one common smothing group (but don't weld anything!). If physics gets rotated in relation to visual model - join them with one, root bone. Btw. I would strongly recommend to recheck every single edge and vertex made with sketchup just to be sure, it will not create unnecessary (and especially hidden!) geometry. Code "if GMod13() then" is quite ugly, and I wouldn't suggest using that approach. It's fine to use "#ifdefine xxx" or similar expressions when you are working with usual language that's get compiled as compiler will do the job for you taking only the parts that are needed. However, because LUA is interpreted at real time, it all is running thus slowing LUA (just a bit or even not noticeable, but it's not a way that skilled programmer do).

When i compile a model of a simple box my ingame physics model gets really REALLY strached to one side, and when i want to compile with concave physics my physics model ingame becomes a lot bigger than i made it. It was, however, working before :/ [editline]8th September 2012[/editline]
Universe came after milky way, destiny was launched after they arrived in the milky way.
No, universe is older than milky way. Milky way stargates have been made a lot after destiny launch. Dr. Rush said that the gate on the Destiny is the oldest known gate.
Like cartman sad universe gate is much older then milky way, anyways maybe first Gates in milky way was universe Gates and alterans just updated them later....
Anyone notice a pattern here? Hint: this thread is going through the same phases aVoN's stargate thread went through before it died a slow painful death.
No! Stop it! I don't want to hear about this dieing! This thread will be fine! :D [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Maybe there's an ultimate ancient database of every stargate in the universe somewhere? :D
Maybe there's an ultimate ancient database of every stargate in the universe somewhere? :D
There is. It's called Destiny and Ancient Repository.
