I have a list of stupid questions that I hope you're willing to answer.
1. How do I spawn item containers?
2. How do I use the Q menu to spawn props with vein, if this is possible at all? If it's not, what's an alternative?
3. How do I use the map editor?
4. How does infection work? I haven't been infected after several encounters with zombies
5. How do you get rid of the tired effect (sleep)?

1-3: Context Menu - default C
4: It doesn't.
5: Spawn a prop, click "sleepable" and press E on it.
1. press C

4. if you are bitten, you are infected. if you are scratched, you have a 1/4 chance of being infected. if your head goes underwater, you are infected. if you're infected, you have 1 ingame hour until death (or 60 seconds on a non-dedi).
5. press C

I've got some problems with Vein, and could use some help.
1.) I've done all I can with the users.txt file and added myself as both SA and Admin and it still refuses to work.
2.) How do you bring up the spawn list/menu?
Help would be appreciated.

Buy Left 4 Dead. It's fun, and has tons of content mappers can use.
Gonna try getting back into Vein after a bit of a hiatus (even though nobody seems to play it...)
So I'm seriously considering just using HL2 props, because owning L4D, and uploading L4D content to servers, seems to be a huge issue and garry doesn't seem to care about L4D2 at the moment.
I was trying to make a system that would have the L4D models displayed if the client had them, and have it fall back to HL2 models in case of error models, but the way to test of a model exists is broken in gmod.
If I do it, that means maps will be 150+ mb each due to content used in the map, and items will be less realistic, since they're using 10-year-old art. Maps will also come out slower because adding content to maps of this size takes forever.
I'd still add custom content if something desperately needed it (i.e. medkits, I don't want to use hl2 medkits, for example).

Yeah, it's weird. But I connect to the same server, and it doesn't have a zombie or containers. Maybe the only one caught. And the map there was for DarkRP.

I would definitely run this if it was utilizing HL2 content, currently it's just unrealistic to do so because it's hard to ask players to download/move a few gigs of content just for them to try out the gamemode.

I'll make new versions and pack the l4d content in the map
I'm going to be opening a Vein server once I tweak it a whole lot more. You won't need l4d either as it will run a third party map
I love the script but I feel like it's trying to be a roleplay script and not one at the same time and because of that it does both poorly. I think even in it's current form it could do very well if a community built up around it like Necropolis that could utilize it to offer an experience but that's up to the whims of whoever and whenever, I know after reading through the entirety of "The Walking Dead" comics I've been in the mood for a good roleplay.
In your post your very first design spec is,
"- Zombie apoc roleplay with quite a few twists. I like to think of it as a roleplay gamemode that you don't have to roleplay on."
Well if you don't have to roleplay on it, there has to be some "metagame" integrated. As it is there's not much to do on it unless there's a roleplay community designed around it like Necropolis. And those people are extremely niche in the broader GMOD community.
Same with this statement...

There's no gameplay for a person to have fun with, without roleplay. Even going through the rest of the design specs listed, there's not enough there to accomplish those first two goals without the support of a roleplay community wrapped around it. I don't think the script hasn't been adopted because people don't have L4D content or GMOD doesn't use L4D2 yet, after all look at the file sizes of some popular communities. I think before even bothering with that it needs to either be accompanied by the support of some roleplay community that wants to create an experience similar to Necropolis again or it needs to have features added so that it has gameplay to it like PERP, DarkRP to get adopted on a wider scale. I'm not saying that you want to make or cater to a community of either but if your goal is to get anyone or someone to play it you need to focus more on which goal you want. If I were you I'd create a strong roleplay backbone which it partially does have, between the character creator and lengthy character descriptor but start adding some sort of gameplay to it, some sense of progression. The crafting is a good start if completed, same with the revised inventory system but I think combining that with the ability to create reinforced strongholds, maybe also finishing the planned motives that can also be toggled on and off like GMStranded would be a create start to creating some gameplay around it that could also be utilized in a roleplay server or disabled completely.

No I understand that but I saw your post about how "nobody plays it" so you're considering HL2 props but before you even consider that you should try to continue developing it on the path you had planned originally, I think you're focusing on the wrong reason it's not being hosted. As it is there's not a compelling reason to host it unless a community can provide something similar to Necropolis in terms of roleplay for the gameplay. There's no gameplay to the script yet besides a solid framework for a more serious roleplay server which according to your own objectives is not what you want per say.
