Trying to set a model. Few questions.
1. Do I set the .vvd, .phy, .vtx or .mdl or skip that bit of the file entirely? I'm thinking .mdl since it's a model I'm trying to set, but the description for changemodel says "skin", so.
2. If I don't, and I set a model that has HL2 citizen anims, will it work with vein or will I need to code that in using the config and anim code?

Vein only works with playermodels. I don't think gmod as a whole works with NPC animations anymore. I'll try coding it later.

- Fixed bug with weapons firing when clicking in Q menu
- Fixed bug with door health HUD elements being way off
- Fixed bug with door health bugging out
- Added new containers: Dumpster, Cash Register, Desk, Lockers, Filing Cabinet, Warehouse, Cigarette Vending Machine
- Small fixes and edits
- Updated credits

The map is 210mb so most likely all the L4D content is packed into the map itself. So no, you don't need L4D.

I've been here for all this time and I never fully explained why I hosted Vein.
Basically, kipper and I started this community for OpenAura Invasion 1942 roleplay, which was basically a serious World War 2 RP. We moved onto other schemas like SST, HL2 Beta, Halo, SWRC, the list could go on for days. After Clockwork and Gmod 13 came and shat all over our community, we decided to host Vein and it's going badly, but that's partly because I'm making next to no effort to get the community active. I'm going to try to get Vein a bit more popular for you because you definitely deserve it.
tl;dr vein is amazing i'm going to base a community around it

umm why when im on the Map there isnt zombies and we cant chat or see anywhere guns etc or give myself guns, i think i cant chat cous i got a chat addon but im gonna remove it, but the other about zombies and guns. How to fix?

None of the containers 100% have items in them. As it stands, the way items are spawned in containers are as follows:
- Every hour (iirc), the contents of a container are randomized.
- Say we're using this for a container:

V.I.AddContainerItem( "shotgunammo", 32 );

- During randomization, it loops through the second number in the definition of the container. In this case, 2 - it does the following twice.
- It picks a random item in that list for each time, let's say revolverammo. The 'rarity' of the item is 32, so it picks a random number between 1 and 32.
- If the random number is 1, the container is given the item.
In other words, for an ammo pile to have ammo, it's got a 2*1/32 = 1/16 chance of having a single bullet in it every hour it refreshes.
The reason it's so low is because the ammo pile is more or less a debug container. Once I start to do the game balancing, I want there to be plenty of melee weapons, not too many guns at all, and scarce ammo. The reason behind this is that guns can be abused really, really easily with the PK system, and gives a feeling to the gun owner that if they use their weapon, they'd better mean it.
You'll also notice many other items have high rarities, e.g. the dumpster has a really high rarity. This is because I still have yet to do balancing (there's a lot of numbers to adjust).
You can feel free to adjust the numbers in the file Vein/gamemode/config/containers.lua if you want to change the numbers. A rarity of 1 means that the item will definitely be there if selected in the randomization process. I don't recommend doing that though.
FYI, melee weapons can spawn in:
- Kitchen Cupboard
- Toolbox
- Car
- Dead Body
- Trash
- Dumpster
- Warehouse
In the future I'll also have a 'refresh container' button on the prop editor to manually refresh it, and once I implement inventory dragging and dropping you'll be able to manually populate containers.

i get a bug where i get frozzen and cant move unless i noclip, same with my friend...

it could be that you have given yourself items that total up to be too much for you to carry (a pistol with 100 rounds can slow you down considerably)
