Suggestion. Don't use with CDS. It destroys your props. Well, the rings does.
Suggestion. Don't use with CDS. It destroys your props. Well, the rings does.
That's generally what rings of metal weighing hundreds of kilograms propelled by god only knows what at insane speed do to things. In the series they're shown smashing through solid rock to beam people into places. That's why in the series they have giant rooms specially for them.
Makes sense lol
hey, is it just me, or is the downloadfile of the v5e corrupt? my winrar doesn't want to unzip it properly...

Nice update, 5e ftw
Yay like the new one ;) ! :D
that is great sounds on both sides :) thank you
yeah this is pritty cool. used it a bit myself. if it were wire compadible to just push button connect to nearest transporter that would also be cool but im not complaining or anything. find it kinda strange that you need to touch the cp to the base to link them together but if it works hey what am i gonna say. Wish i could Lua script. but guess its probably safer to learn a real Programming language before I try to grasp scripts. do you know if its possible to change it to require resources and calculate how much resources are needed for both payload weight & distance. either exponentially or linear?. which ever would work out ingame better and more realistically. would be cool to impliment into the RD2 LS2 stuff with just energy. but just an idea. now all I really need to do is Learn to Lua script so I can make my own content for Gmod 10.

(I will agree with you about wire support though)
It's just you, try downloading it again.
No, it's not just him it happened to me too - I will try downloading using DownThemAll then with IE7 [*cornflake shudders*] if all else fails. Edit: DownThemAll worked. I guess Firefox didn't feel like downloading it correctly :P

I am not trying to rush the implementation, just trying to get it right, rather than get is quick. Catdaemon has been assisting me with ideas etc for implementation, and there is a potential for the wire support I have added to be included in the releases as part of the ring transporters, rather than as an add-on. More on this as Catdaemon and I flesh out the details. If we get this solid, and Catdaemon is open to the idea, LS2 and RD2 support would be the next thing to include. But I would need to see if this is something Catdaemon wants to include in the base release. For those that want a sneak peek. Here is a short 2 min video of me playing with the first successful build of ring transporters with wire support included. Hope you like.
Fixed. Simple solution popped into my head randomly as I read your comment :v:
Spiffy. What did you do?
Spiffy. What did you do?
Just copy pasted it into the function that makes the rings go down that's run a little later to let the first sound finish properly. Dunno how I missed that befofe to be honest.
Catdaemon: Why do you use the transporter? Just make it so that after you've named the base, pressing E on it will initiate the teleporting menu. And maybe an option on the naming popup where you can disable teleporting from there? That would be all the functionality of base+panel, but all in one unit.

Catdaemon, are you planning to set up panels up to "autoseek" the nearest ring platform like aVoN's DHDs and Rothon's GDOs? Just for simplicity's sake?
Catdaemon, are you planning to set up panels up to "autoseek" the nearest ring platform like aVoN's DHDs and Rothon's GDOs? Just for simplicity's sake?
Just press the Dial button in the GUI without typing an address in.
Catdaemon is there any chance you are going to change the base. I was thinking of the "ring base storage" like on the Guo' ald ships. The base opens up and the rings come out. It would make it more realistic instead of having them appear out of thin air. Zup might be upto it.
Explain to me the practical benefit that will make this more fun to use and not more annoying.
I agree with him. Better quality of mods means using them is more fun.
Just press the Dial button in the GUI without typing an address in.
as far as I know, aVoN's stargate DHDs do not automatically dial the nearest gate when you hit the button and that functionality is rather stupid. I was referring to the actual setting up of the control panel to the ring base.
catademon: Just as well, i was wondering if it's possible to producea ring base that produces the rings in a downward fashion rather then rising from the ground... Something you could mount on the outside of a ship and have you materialize on the ground without being half embeddd in the ground, upside-down as you would simply by turning your existing ring base upside down.

You should find an tool for the Ring Controller. place it then right click on it followed by the ring transporter to control. Then it has one input just activate that to auto dial the nearest transporter.
I'm going to download this, I like Stargates better better. There more hazardous. But this is nice (and doesn't vaporise minges) 100% shoe powered.
When i load two transporters and weld them to platforms and do the whole controller thing..it doesn't do anything it makes the sounds and the saw blade kinda glows but it don't transport anything one of the rings comes out of the ground then nothing happens..
hey I got a problem with these because when I start the transporters and the rings come down they get stucked and I won't be teleported, I hear the sound and all but no teleporting and the rings get stucked and won't go away until I delete them, so what is wrong?

It happens to me a lot on a server that's a bit laggy, especially in SB mode.
