I wish it would act like this: Press button, rings appear around you. It takes a while because of distance to transfer (You're still on the sending rings, after like a bright blink has gone to receiving rings, you appear there). You appear on receiving rings, the rings go down back to floor.

No he doesn't, he's on weed
hey cat how is the transporters going.
Must have the transporters! :V
This = epic.
Would be cool if these worked again ;/
the new rings looks awesome because the old ones don't work pretty good
cat are you still working on these cause we haven't herd from you in a while
Hey, I saw on youtube the rings had a spinning effect when they cae up and went down, why doesn't it do that on the new version?
Hey, I saw on youtube the rings had a spinning effect when they cae up and went down, why doesn't it do that on the new version?
Well this youtube video was wrong, there isn't a spinning effect and as far as i've ever known there never was.
From what i remember this used to have a spinning effect and it would go up and down when used but i think one of the updates broke the effect
I don't think there was any spinning effect. Just to let you know I'm still tinkering this although I haven't had much time for it recently.
The rings never spin. The just went down and up again :)
A screenshot (will look like shit on the forums so have a link) of Zup's models in action: http://xs219.xs.to/xs219/07371/gm_construct0006.jpg As you can see I have upgraded my system from the last ones :v: Teleportation all works now, fixing them up some more and then I'll be able to move onto the control mechanism (as in how you activate them etc). Anyone got suggestions for this?

One way it could work is like the old version (just slightly modified); Pressing one button on the control panel teleports you to the nearest ring transporter, whereas pressing another button on the panel sends you to the assigned transporter (assuming you still have the 'link' method from the old version. Or, you could set a limit of 8 ring transporters per map, and make each of the 8 buttons on the panel correspond to individual transporters (similar to the implementation of the Mappers Alliance rings). I just looked around, but I couldn't find a control panel model made by Zup. I probably imagined it.

I'm going to make my own control panel too I think (just got 3ds max working). Perhaps an option for the ring long range mode. Edit: Also some dynamic lighting stuff:
Avon is already using these rings for his version of the transporter and the rings were uploaded for him and not to be a dick but just let avon make the thing.

He's writing new versions of my things for his use in case you didn't notice. Edit: Alright, here we go. This isn't finished (as usual), but it works. This is the first post: Download: Ring transporter, based off the ones seen in Stargate. Features: - Can penetrate props - Can teleport pretty much anything - Rings are entirely lua controlled - Can extend rings far (as in series on transport ships etc) - Will not teleport props welded to it - Looks cool as hell - Two-way Usage: - Spawn two or more ring transporter base entities from your SENT menu - Spawn a control panel and touch it to a base - Press E on the control panel - this will activate the transporter - Transporter will then link with the nearest other transporter and begin the teleport sequence on both ends You can also activate it via the "teleport" input, for example ent_fire !picker teleport. Installation: - Extract to your garrysmod/addons folder. Credit: - Thanks to Zup for the models - these are very well made.
Wow, I just found these ring transporters on garrysmod.org :D I've been waiting for a new set of ring transporters ever since the v4 ones were released... in SpaceBuild maps they would transport the entire atmosphere of a planet :S If these don't do that = WIN!
New models are utter win!

Ok, I will go check. Oh and I accidentally quoted the wrong person so I edited it out of my post. Edit:
I forgot about that, I'm not sure if they will - go test and tell me if they do.
It looks like they don't! Works like a charm. The only thing is, when teleporting it transports the ring control panel with me. Is that supposed to happen?

Well, I was thinking you would make a panel at the 1st ring base, then teleport the the other one and make a panel there for that ring base. That way, you can teleport between the two and each has it's own panel you can leave in case someone else wants to use it.
[...] or weld it to it.
Ah yes, that's right! :D
Exelent Work :D
It doesn´t work in my Gmod 10 and Gmod 9.
Cat you win.
