What SWEP are you on about? It's just going to have a control panel and that's it. Why the hell would you need an activator SWEP for it anyway?
I'd like the activator button to have a wiremod input for lock panel and activate though, As I'm the kinda guy that likes to build complex things using wire ;)
Awesome work anyway
HOLY CRAP!!
I know my words are empty.
But at least hear this:
This is the best Lua thing I've EVER seen.
I mean it.
I swear.
No kidding.
....:v:
I changed the base model to an actual ring and it looks better that way.
The only problem is that in order to make it look right it has to be partially in the ground, which makes it so you spawn a little too low.
A new model that is fairly flat and looks like the ring platforms inside a Tel'tak would be awesome.
It would be a very simple model, probably like 99% texturing.
I know you're not a modeller Cat, so I'm not really requesting this, just throwing the idea out there.
By the sound's of it everyone would like sound to be added to the ring's
(You do get the joke at the start of the Sentanence, right?)
Yes, HA. HA HA. HA, HA...
We get the joke! :D
I am one for sounds, as I mentioned earlier on. You're doing a great job, Catdaemon!
I'll add sounds when I'm done with some more important things like the dialling panel.
DUDE, Thank fuck You exist, this is bastard wank'able :D If my internet is fixed at home in the morning I will get you all the sounds you need. (I have them on my home system)

Changes so far:
- Dialling (works fine).
- Rings penetrating props or players will now apply massive damage to them (so if you send rings through a breakable roof it'll smash it apart which looks awesome).
Anything else (except sounds, I will do this but it's not a fun thing because I have to sync the movement of the rings to it)?
When you get the ring control panel model, will you be able to press buttons to dial like on the DHD? that would be amazingly awesome.
It's awesome either way though.
yah, it will be 5 billions better with the activator swep and sounds.
The swep would be cool, or even if wire support is added, just use numpad input.

There'd only be six buttons and the combinations would be pretty annoying to remember. I quite like the typing interface, it's a lot quicker than a DHD.
Yeah I agree Cat, Would you like those Ring transporter sounds I have when I Can get my home internet working again? (probably tomorrow)

Send them over to me and I'll see what I can do. What I'd really like is a single loop ambience sound and a single zwoop sound, but I guess that'd have to be made specially (I know someone IRL who does sound engineering, worth a shot).
Well, the sounds I have should do the trick :P Hopefully My internet will work in the morning :D I'm around My sisters house On her Pc at the moment :/

Yeah, that makes sense.
I really just want the ability to choose which platform to ring to.
How many buttons does the panel in the series have? If it's not too many, perhaps you could have each one assigned to a symbol and have the address be a specific arrangement of symbols. Unlike aVoN's DHD which does not need them to be in order, this one would need a specific sequence. To really simplify it, imagine shapes. Triangle Triangle Circle Square is base 1, Triangle Triangle Circle Circle is base 2, etc.
I was thinking of having a text overlay like with the DHD.
Only it would probably be numbers because there would not be enough buttons for letters.
A four digit code should do the trick,
Cat, your the Goa'uld to my Jaffa.
....KREE!
Cat, you can try to use the sounds in the stargate pack. They are the best HQ one I have found so far.
But trust me, separating them into different parts won't have a good result. You should make your rings just a bit faster and they may fit to them :)
Before I forget: Neat dialling system.
Love the new models, but i have kind of a little request. This may be only me, but when you press the transporter panel i think the rings come up a little to fast. Am i alone about this or are they coming up to fast?
The rings I think should actually move considerably faster.
Edit: I found some renders people did that are quite accurate in regards to the ones in the show. Perhaps you can tweak yours to match the speed and movement of them.

This last one is an Ori ring platform. Zup, if you're reading this, perhaps this could be your next project? :D

But how do I sync the sounds if they're going long distance?

Their current speed is the optimal one I have found in terms of animation smoothness - if it's increased they'll get jumpy. I will look into it though, keep in mind this part isn't something I'm fussed about realism with (more with how fun it is to use).

I don't know if you were talking about the speed i was talking about, or even about my post, but the speed i was talking about is like...when you press the panel it's got like a 1,5 second delay before they come up of the "ground".

I agree, it would be nice to have a delay between activation and the rings coming up. At the moment, it's impossible to mount the control panel on a wall as you can't get to the rings fast enough.
I'll consider the delay thing but it's not getting done right now because it's more difficult than you'd think to get right.

Ring transporter, based off the ones seen in Stargate.
Features:
- Dialling
- Can penetrate props
- Can teleport pretty much anything
- Rings are entirely lua controlled
- Can extend rings far (as in series on transport ships etc)
- Will not teleport props welded to it
- Looks cool as hell
- Two-way
Usage:
- Spawn two or more ring transporter base entities from your SENT menu
- If you want, press USE on the bases to name them
- Spawn a control panel and touch it to a base
- Press E on the control panel - this will bring up a menu for dialling.

- Transporter will then link with the defined transporter and begin the sequence
Installation:
- Extract to your garrysmod/addons folder.
Credit:
- Thanks to Zup for the models - these are very well made.
Free sex for you, ask my sexy girlfriend for it, here is the coupon!
*Gives free sex coupon*
Also, this is awesome, I have tried lua, but I suck...and I mean it...
:sax:
You know until you can get some stargate sounds sorted out there's probably some good ones in the HL2 repository you can use.
By SWEP I think he means the thing that the Goa'uld use to activate the rings, the little bracelet thing on their wrists ;)
