Added trading, updated thread.
I'm also wondering what you guys think of it so far and if you've got any suggestions.
Criticism is always welcome as long as it's constructive.

Yeah, I still need to find a good font.
Could you give me some examples of the font you have in mind?

The problem with this font is that it doesn't really fit the theme.
It's based around the medieval times and that font is just too futuristic for it.
Added the entire experience and leveling system.
Currently putting the finishing touch to the weapons system.
Weapons can be made with anything but if they're made with the SWEP Construction Kit then it will be rendered in the inventory as well.
I haven't added a weapon slot in the inventory yet but that's not very hard.
Defense and level requirements have been added to the armor system as well.
Furthermore a little bit of HUD has been made.
It looks terrible though, I just needed it to see if health and levels were working like I wanted them to :P
any special abilities?
i.e., magic and stuff.

That is the plan.
I think I'll be experimenting with the particle editor somewhere today, see if I can make some good effects with it.
Particle editor is quite easy to use, but I'm having trouble getting the particles to show up in gmod.
There's no error, I just get the standard particle with red crosses.
As an aside not, I've improved the hud a bit.
Added an experience bar and a compas:

Stats system has also been made, next up is the menu for it.
The compas is of great use for quests, as a quest npc could give general directions to the next location.
I can also add icons on the compas later which will show you where your next quest location is.
Today's progress:
Made a big part of the quest system, now I need to add the system that will spawn the npcs for it.
Added the markers function to the compass:

Got particles working, so now I'll need to make some particles / steal some particles from valve.
The particles will mostly be for magic, but some will be used for spawn effects and armor effects.
I've also added a health bar to the npcs. Too bad I'm terrible when it comes to making stuff look good so this is what I'll have to go with for now:

( Don't mind the armor :P )
Wood Toaster armour ftw!!!!!!!!
By the way Looks pretty awesome keep it up
Alright, so I've pretty much laid the basis for the quest system.
You can track quests, which will show what you have done already and what you have left to do.
This is on the right side on the screen.
Example:

The color is random and if the quest has a certain point or NPC to go to, it will mark it in the compass with that color.
The NPCs that you have to kill, in this case the headcrabs, will not be shown because they are too common.
The quest NPCs have their own quest list and are very easy to add.
Made an example video of a basic quest.

Ok so I've made the stats menu functional, as well as giving the stats meaning.

Strength: Attack damage.
Agility: Attack and movement speed.
Stamina: Defense and health points.
Wisdom: Mana pool.
Intelligence: Spell damage.
I have an idea for some spells. Maybe for level 1 wisdom, you can have basic elemental spells? Maybe a fire ball, dirt speck, water splash, and air gust, or somethin'. Another idea I have is at level 10 or something, you get a portal-like spell, where you can spawn one portal anywhere on a flat surface, then another where you port to, which can be used to escape from combat, etc.

Indeed.
There are plenty of ideas already, like reviving and healing for example.
I just need to get the bloody particles working, I want decent effects :/
I've been working on a map as well as spending a lot of time on the particles because they just don't work -_-
Alright, Wolf. Good luck on your quest of making this RPG <3
Alright, Wolf. Good luck on your quest of making this RPG <3
Had a nice run, now I'm rewriting most of the item system -_-
I am not pleased with this as it will take quite some time, all due to a friend of mine..
Don't expect a lot in the next couple of days :(
Hooray!
Item system has been fixed!! :D
Skill system has been started as well:

The current skill is selected with keys 1 through 0.
Next to that the menus and hud have been improved:

I've got a little map update as well:

As you can see the map is also a WIP.
There are a lot of dark spots, because the player is supposed to use torches or magic to light the place up.
I like this, alot.
Really cool.
man this is looking really cool!
Mistakes happen, deal with it and fix them.
yeah i know who said that about you.
i like the way you're organising your menus, and the colour scheme is really fitting
Ok so I haven't been able to work on the gamemode that much, but I do have some progress.
The skill system is done, and to learn a skill you must buy a skillbook.
This brings me to the second thing: shops.
The system has been made, now I just need to make the npc menu for it.
If you're wondering why I'm putting skills in books, it's because this way you can trade skills you already have, or don't want because you're not a mage / archer / swordsman.
I'm quite glad with how fast I am making everything, especially since my holidays will soon be over and I won't have as much time anymore.
Ok people, tomorrow I'm going on vacation for a week so there won't be any updates.
There aren't any now either, due to school starting in 2 weeks and I had to do finish some stuff for it since I won't be having any time for it after today.
Progress will also be slower from now on, mainly due to school and school being more important than games.
I hope you'll all understand.
Personally, I think when you level up you should get your health back to 100%
Looks sick dude would really love a beta
Looks sick dude would really love a beta
It's not good enough for a beta yet.
School is taking up most of my free time, so development has almost come to a halt.
I am trying to get work done as fast as possible, but school is just more important to me than the gamemode.
Ok, I've made some progress this weekend.
First off I added some extra HUD elements ( Name of NPC and his/her/its class [ shop, quest ] ), and I've made a little chatbox as well.
I'm going to add the well-known personal messages so you can speak with only the people you want to speak with.
It features colours and fonts using the markup.Parse function.

Colours also change depending on the colour of you party.

And then I started on the shop menu, which turned out quite well and it works too =D
