Does this not work anymore? I can't get it to work.
Reinstalled it without the media query thing, still doesn't work. Great. why no automerge EDIT: ah, fixed it by restarting the map, but isolated the problem. game.CleanUpMap() makes it not work.
yes, indeed it appears to have ceased proper operation. i click it on the entity tab, and nothing pops up.
I'm fairly sure I have a copy of a working install on my server, would you like that?
I got it to work now, all is well.
game.CleanUpMap sounds like a dangerous function :C Chrome is NOT required.
I've been trying to stream from VLC to the player with no luck, if anybody figures it out, please post it here.
VLC doesn't stream in any protocol that Flash Player supports, and using any other player is like rolling dice. You have to use a Flash streaming server such as Red5 (free [headache]), Adobe Flash Media Server ($$$), or Wowza Media Server ($$$). OR use a service such as Livestream, justin.tv, Stickam, or Ustream.
Alright thanks SK, I'm gonna go try get that working now.
We have found a small bug or conflict. Users that have chrome installed from gmod tower get the following error. PlayX DEBUG: Using gm_chromeRequesting browser 32 32 / 32 32Found an existingAttaching regen to texture "error" ~thanks
Do the users have the PlayX textures? If they replace their version of gm_chrome with the one I provide, does it fix the problem?
Do the users have the PlayX textures? It must not be properly detecting that the materials do not exist. I suppose changing lua/playx/client/playx.lua:60 to:
if mat and matSq and not mat:IsError() and not matSq:IsError() then
would fix that. Edit: I am assuming that Material() returns an instance of IMaterial.
Superb addon. I do have one suggestion though. What about adding an option to spawn a radio model aswell, that does not render the video, but only play the sound. Some clients experience lag from rendering these videos, and positioning the projector really far away from a wall prevents a video to be rendered and therefore people don't lag but can't still enjoy music.
Most of the FPS drop should disappear if you check "Force low framerate mode" when playing a video. The actual rendering of the screen doesn't cause noticeable lag. It's the frequent redraw of the browser that leads to framerate drop, which that checkbox should take care of.
Yeah but it would be pretty nifty with a radio to place on a drawer while playing. :mmmhmm:
Since there's no video, you could just place any ol' radio model and nobody would know the difference! There is a way to use any arbitrary model for PlayX, but there would still be a video.
It annoys me how this doesn't work for individual clients sometimes and they have to restart their computers to fix it, nothing else works, not even reinstalling or clearing cache and just loading GMod again.
What happens? A black screen?
Sorry for the trouble, but im really wanting to stream South Park Episodes from its site, but im doing it wrong. Id really appreciate if someone helped me. Heres an example of the link: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103857 Thanks!
What happens? A black screen?
Usually it's white and confirms it's playing but it doesn't work for individuals.

They don't even provide an embeddable player.
Usually it's white and confirms it's playing but it doesn't work for individuals.
Might be an issue with IE. In which case, I'm not sure anything can be done about it, except to switch to gm_chrome.
You should make it possible to stream from freeplaymusic.com. It has endless amounts of music on there that can't be put on YouTube (you could be sued if they catch you - and it's kind of a hassle to get it up.) I'm sure anyone who likes to play music often in their server will agree, sites like this are incredibly helpful. I tried using auto-detect, flash, and mp3, none of them work with it. Just shows a frozen JW player loading screen.
As per the white screen issue for clients. I often get this on myself and clients after restarting my server. It is always fixed by reconnecting to the server. No errors in local or server consoles. Hope that info helps with anything.
omfg this is amazing.. rly nice work dude!
This is rather strange, but Garry's Mod seems to be crashing on server join every single time after I install the PlayX gm_chrome files now. Before it would crash after 2-3 videos, but now crashes every time I join this specific server. Any idea where I should start for determining where the problem lies? EDIT: As for the server itself, it's GModTheater's.
Well, first try removing all addons sans PlayX, and see whether that changes anything. "Before it would crash after 2-3 videos" refers to when you don't have gm_chrome installed?
I'm have trouble playing a flv movie, could you tell me what i need installed to make this work properly, right now i'm just putting in the url that leads directly to the video..
I'm have trouble playing a flv movie, could you tell me what i need installed to make this work properly, right now i'm just putting in the url that leads directly to the video..
For one thing, there is a new version of PlayX. What URL are you using?
jazzygaming.com/servermovies/video.flv, right now it's locked, but when i tried playing it was unlocked.
I need a working link to figure out the problem.
okay, try now, it should work in a moment
