Not sure if this is a life support, resource distribution, or advanced duplicator problem...
It is not possible to connect resource tanks directly to a pod, once that pod has been pasted by the duplicator (it errors as an invalid source/destination). This includes attempting to connect storage devices directly to a pod on a duplicated contraption, and any saved connections. A freshly spawned pod can be connected properly, but if that connected pod is duplicated, the copy will error when being pasted (invalid source/destination). Sounds like whatever registers the pod as a valid resource distribution entity is not being saved properly.
Thanks to the sb2 team for your constant efforts in fixing the bugs with the system. Your work is greatly appreciated.
Someone else pointing out this problem last night, I haven't had anytime to check it out yet.
Is a pod controller involved at all in the save?
Nope, no pod controller. I do use the VCU though.
Nope, no pod controller. I do use the VCU though.
Was there one in the save?
Nice improvement. Although, is it possible to enable saving whilst keeping the links and everything functional? Because when I save, nothing works when I load it up again. Found it out the hard way. =(
Was there one in the save?
Yes. Sorry for not making that clear.

Does saving pod links work without a VCU?

I don't bother with saves. Because Steam is so shitty and I have a hard enough time just loading up any Source game, I tend to avoid loading saves as they tend to have a higher chance of crashing while loading than just starting a new game. I'll try to see if I can get it to work.

Just want to point out that I've encountered this issue also. However, no pod controller or VCU was present in the advanced dupe.
That's cause someone changed something shortly before release (when I was busy at work) and didn't test it. It's fixed for the next update, which should be this afternoon-evening (it's 7am now).
Errm, I still have this error now. Did you forget to upload to the "public" SVN?
That's why I think that it's dumb for the SB2 team to have a private and a public SVN. If you make a public SVN, it should be the dev one, or else it's useless: people choose SVNs to have quick, fresh updates from the developers, and they know that the updates can break some things or are unfinished and still in development. Making a second SVN for the public is just another kind of file uploading, like uploading to gmod.org or somewhere else; in other words, not what people like me want to have. But that's still what I think, disagree with me or not.

Okay, thanks. I built a gigantic automated munition generation factory, then saved it, and loaded it up later to find that nothing worked. Heh, one and half hours down the drain.

I didn't finish the update, there was too much to do and there is too much to do at work.
The public SVN is there for ease of updating. Dev SVN is separate and private cause it's inherently unstable. If I commit this update now, everything will be broken till it's finished. I'm restructuring the very large networked variables and beams module. I haven't even gotten around to checking on the other problems yet.
If you want the broken version for a few days, I can commit it now.
Reinstalled gmod, works fine! Except for the fact I can't use wiremod anymore....
Nevermind! I just had too many addons in my addon folder! This is great!
RD2 does not work, it won't even show up in the game even though i have the correct file
RD2 does not work, it won't even show up in the game even though i have the correct file
There is nothing to see when you got RD2 installed,
You need Life Support 2.
i hade life support 2 and RD2 and i could not see the RD2 thing, but i uninstalled garrys mod and reinstalled it with the Global Roleplay stuff only, now everything is working fine.
I asked this in the LS2 thread and was told to post it here:
In a Ent's shared.lua file, what does the "LSEntOverlayText" and the "HasOOO = true" parts do?
[lua]ENT.Type = "anim"
ENT.Base = "base_rd_entity"
ENT.PrintName = "Air Compressor"
list.Set( "LSEntOverlayText" , "air_compressor", {HasOOO = true, num = 1, strings = {ENT.PrintName.."\n","\nEnergy: "},resnames = {"energy"}} )
[/lua]
Don't know if this is RD or LS
I am getting a problem. For some reason, when I link things, no link appears but it says it is linked... I have made its thickness 7, made it have color and a material... I don't understand why this is...
Also, when I hook up the Solar Panels to a storage device, or actually, any resource production device to any storage device, nothing happens... And, yes I did check that they where on and they where...
Please help... Plus, I love the new menu.

Happened to me a few times on public servers, Never found out why it did that but it went away after a few RD link tool settings changes + restarts of garrysmod
I hope this helps

Is it on your own server?
Does your server have wire? = Get updated wire version. (Old wire version bugged my friends server so that nothing would generate resources)
Does your server have an outdated wire version? = See above.
Try watching it for a few minutes, Sometimes on my server it says 0 for some people then a few seconds/minutes later it suddenly shows how much energy it has.
I hope this helps also.

Yes I would also have to agree with that

Delete all old versions (including old Hydrogen Systems) before installing the new ones, this is very important.
Next you'll want to try deleting the old version of my beam modules that might be in somethings (like advdupe and wire), file names are something like RDBeamLib and BeamNeVars. The old files seem to sometimes load when they shouldn't be and that would cause problems, I'm working on these problems now.
I'm very busy at work again, might not have this update finished for a couple of days.

It's stuff for the new overlay text system I made. OOO is On/Off/Overdrive.
I'm having problems with the supply connector, often when I spawn one in, whenever its connected to another connector, I very often get console spam, saying that it was "attempting to perform artihmatic on a nill value". I'm no expert, but it sounds like it's not connecting, or spawning properly.
This happens on Space Build maps and normal maps, in Space Build game mode, or in sandbox mode. Adv duplicator saves of working connectors, work when pasted.
What should i do?
I just wanna report that this is an AWESOME new version. I encountered a bug countless times where re-re-re-saved life support systems being loaded with the dupe would send the server into some kind of infinite loop. With this new version not only do I not have that problem but all of my old saves that had that problem are now fixed. Two things:
I am also encountering the pod link bug as well. Also when I saved a new pod linked up to my stuff, I don't think that saved either. Hard to tell because it was a pretty simple setup with no screens.
Secondly, what would it take for RD2 to be able to correctly link together parented life support devices? When you added parenting support to the Dupe I was thrilled, all we need now is to be able to link them afterward (most wires seem to work for me). It will VERY rarely work for me, doesn't seem to be much consistancy to it.

Some of that was cause RD used to not clear the old links on paste (references to ents that don't exist any more cause it's made of all new ents) and it would also cause the files to become progressively larger.
Pod stuff should be fix for the next update.
I'll have to experiment with parented devices. I know one of the standard checks on ents fails when the ent is parented, but I'm not sure which one, might be IsValid(), or a limitation of trace.
Awesome!
Suggestion: could we have, instead of just a single hermaphrodite supply connector, connectors that are only male or female so that they work like a plug & socket? This could make things a lot less time consuming...you could just drive your car up to a refuel station and the refuel plug connects to your car's socket...instead of having to get out, activate the supply connector, and use the grav gun to plug it in.
Thanks!
The best part is the Supply Connectors! They will now link to a Cutoff Valve!

That is planned to be added later.

If you get the supply connectors close together and you use wire to activate the supply connector, it'll just connect automatically.
Awesome work!
Will the supply connector work for any resource or just certain ones?
It should work like a normal supply connector without the hose.
I would think it will be like LS Backpack and the docking station just with a wire on/off button.
Cool stuff.
I have the same problem as shadow and I am looking forward to the fix. Great work though, RD2 is fantastic otherwise.

The duplicator problem?
I thought Tad2020 fixed it but he will release it with a total new update.
I really should try this and LS:2, but I'm lazy :(
