Hmm, this might be a problem, because I'm pretty sure you need gm_bass to detect beats in music.

Well then you just choose an example song, get it's BPM and code away, like I did.

Although, serverside modules are allowed, so I guess I could use gm_bass serverside to send beat data to all clients.

You have to hit the keys in rythm in order to run
Rythm isn't limited to music
I'm a big fan of osu! so I thought "why not".
So far it just reads the .osu file for the position and timing of the hit objects and renders it onto a 3d2d panel. I didn't get around to the sliders yet, though.

What's the deal on GMod version? 13 fine seeing as its now available to all?
Either version is fine. Just be sure to specify if your entry is only compatible with one of the versions. GM13 would be preferable since the judging would be the 15th, which is pretty close to the earliest ETA.
I want to participate and im working with GM12 but im trying to make it compatible with both.
I'm not sure if i will be able to upload my gamemode on time due to school :/
One question: Can i use models and materials/textures from gmod.org since i cant make models? (i'll give credits)

@Drakehawke: my problem is that i dont know if i will use those content or what i will use
i mean maybe i need weaponmodels but at the moment im focused on the code and have no time to search for models
if its not allowed i'll try to work around by using the common models with other colors and textures if neccesary

If you want to use other people's models, make sure they said in their upload that you can use it with credit, or contact them if necessary. If custom content like that isn't essential to your gamemode, I'd recommend not using any for the contest.
The bass module being shipped with gmod would sure help this contest.
