I just walk next to it and it just watches me. I shoot it and it watches me. And then i respawn one he follows me and then he stops. It is annoying. Make it smarten. Make a female version (Protects eggs) And male version (Hunter)
J-Dude, I'm sexually attracted to dinosaurs. I'll never have a girlfriend. Just do this for me, OK?
what about making other dinosaurs like Velociraptor?
what about making other dinosaurs like Velociraptor?
Already been made.
Okay-- here are the most common bugs I found with the T-Rex When he spots an ennemy, he sometime stands still for 30/45 seconds, then he begins to go toward his target. Or sometime he will not move until the target comes in his bite attack range and THEN begins to move When he kills an ennemy npc (Snpc or NPC, both) he usually go in one of the corner of the map (a hiding corner, the ones combines use to cover when they have to reload) and this line appears: entities/npc_tyran_rex/init.lua:458: attempt to index a nil value It pops it several times, 2/3 in a row, then he goes out again and begins patrolling around. Will put up the bugs I find in the Monster SNPC Pack thread. The T-Rex also begins to attack the player when you shoot him with notarget / ai_ignoreplayers is on, I don't know if this is intended tho.
When he spots an ennemy, he sometime stands still for 30/45 seconds, then he begins to go toward his target. Or sometime he will not move until the target comes in his bite attack range and THEN begins to move
I think he is supposed to do that; Mr.Rexy only attacks if (a) somebody gets very close to him (bite attack range, as you said) or (b) if somebody attacks him. Other than that he is supposed to look around to "eat" ragdolls until he spots a new threat. However, he does not seem to do so. Edit:
When he kills an ennemy npc (Snpc or NPC, both) he usually go in one of the corner of the map (a hiding corner, the ones combines use to cover when they have to reload) and this line appears: entities/npc_tyran_rex/init.lua:458: attempt to index a nil value
Got that error, too. I think that's the bug with the ragdoll eating thing I mentioned.
Well I accept these reasons, but I don't understand why he does his growl / locks his view on us if he is 'neutral' as long as you don't attack him -- When you jump just before he does his bite attack, you fully avoid it without taking any damage -- You can outrun him without the sprint, your base run is faster than him, it's a little weird -- the 357 and the crossbow (weapons that do 100 damage each shot on him) makes him do his pain animation, everytime you shoot him he does this animation, which ruins the fight a little, altought a nice touch of realism, it's very cheap, in my opinion (and if you can fix that of course) you should make the T-rex do his pain animation only once he goes under 50% of his Total HP -- I only saw this once, but I was running to the roof of gm_construct (just behind where you spawn) he began walking to ward me (in a straight line) and then he went through the map, I was all confused because he went UNDER the map, only happened once.
Well I accept these reasons, but I don't understand why he does his growl / locks his view on us if he is 'neutral' as long as you don't attack him
If I remember right, it's supposed to be a warning that you are getting too close and you should back away ASAP, unless, of course, you want to get killed.
If I remember right, it's supposed to be a warning that you are getting too close and you should back away ASAP, unless, of course, you want to get killed.
I can get to the other side of the map, in ~a minute he's going to come to me, so I believe it's a bug rather than a warning, since there is no "distance limit" to make him calm down
http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=3675 i know its gonna takea really LONG time to make these but it will go great with the t-rex and raptor man imagne this walking around gm_constuct seeing dinosuars runing free. being steped on by a long neck watching a spinosaurus rip apart the t-rex sounds fun eh?
Rexy is meant to behave much more like an animal. He doesn't WANT to fight if he doesn't have to. His instinct is to survive, and picking fights with every creature he sees isn't a good way to do that. So, he'll mostly ignore things that keep their distance and respect his territory. If something he sees as a threat encroaches on that territory, he will roar at them as a warning. He doesn't want you there; go away. If his warnings are not heeded, he will then see you as a threat and figure you are challenging him, and he will attack. And, obviously, if something attacks him, he will attack. And if he understands the threat is bigger than he is (not that he's particularly used to that notion) he will look for refuge. I agree that guns like the 357 shouldn't cause his pain animation. I had meant that more for explosives. And often, certain enemies will pummel him with attacks that trigger the animation and simply keep it up until he's dead. As to his slower speed, the original TRex was HUGE, almost 3/4 the height of a strider, and naturally, he could have a normal looking movement animation and be extremely fast because his legs are longer and he can take huge strides which covers distance. Rexy however, is smaller, and his current run animation is about as fast as I could make him before the believability of the animation crumbled and he simply looked like he was being shown in fast-forward mode. And yes, we've all considered more dinosaurs. I'm not so concerned with herbivores though. Especially the massive ones, because they're hulls would be impossible and he'd have too small a hitbox. The Raptor is a MAYBE, since Xystus' new ai has greatly improved the current raptor's effectiveness. I want eventually to do the Spino though, since it's Xystus' favorite and it'd be good for Rexy to have a rival.
Nice explanation there J-Dude but I got A problem with Rexy and when any SNPC such as Xystus's snpc pack or Half-Life: Renaissance Snpcs attacks Rexy with A gun he stops completely in his tracks when Barney just shoots him or when the soldiers in Xystus's snpc pack shoot him. I just thought that Rexy was bugged up at first trying to move but I realized that he would start moving after the SNPCs started reloading.
You have out done yourself :D I took Rexy for a test run on Visitor_center, and man, he's the perfect fit! I was in the main hall, hiding behind the Rex statue, and the rex was kind of pissed at me so he stomped around roaring. Then, he turned around and made a beeline for the hall(1st picture), and came around and took a chunk out of my flesh. I later ran through the cafeteria, and found this to be funny(2nd picture). Then, I sprinted and jumped behind the register of the cafe, and he started roaring at me again(last picture) Brilliant SNPC :D

Or do I just have a crappy memory?

If I go far enough a way, he'll just start wandering and minding his own business. And yes, what I said IS how he was programed to behave, I'm not just talking about the animal.
Okay well if he's programmed to wait to be shot before attacking that's fair enough, but then when you shoot him he sometime takes time before reacting and going to the attacker..
Okay well if he's programmed to wait to be shot before attacking that's fair enough, but then when you shoot him he sometime takes time before reacting and going to the attacker..
Scientists say Dinosaurs had a brain the size of a pea, so obviously the T-rex may seem a bit retarded before he starts to maul you.
Could we at least make a HUNTER t-rex
what about making other dinosaurs like Velociraptor?
Scientists say Dinosaurs had a brain the size of a pea, so obviously the T-rex may seem a bit retarded before he starts to maul you.
Sigh, so what do this have to do with the current issue? Did scientists recreate dinosaurs and shot them to see if they wait half a minute before trying to eat them? I'm just reporting this what seems like a bug, because it would be stupid to make an Snpc that WAITS while getting shot and only reacts after he's been shot half a clip in his ass.
hea im not a lua coder or any thing but i have been waiting a long time for some one to make couter strike npcs and i was wondering if u couldlua code css models seeing that ur so good at lua coding things
CSS bots for garrysmod? Not a bad idea. I'll think about it.
Could you make it so you can hypnotize the T-Rex into being friendly or something? I know I sound obsessive, but I'm a lonely, desperate man :(
When I spawn Rexy its legs clip through the ground and it just sits there unless I walk right up to its mouth.
great job on the snpc, it looks much better,
where do you extract it too andrebal where do you extract the map and the dinosaurs models
i find the hitbox kind of glitchy when shooting a rocket or sometimes bullets will miss.
OO OO how bout a 4 legged dino!! that would be awesome!! make it ram n stuff.
Now all we need is those little green buggers and we have the awesomesauce.
