When will people like me that dont know what you guys are talking about beable to play on a server with this mod?
Not likely anytime soon. I don't know of anyone working on it, and it still crashes gmod if you try to run it.
Not likely anytime soon. I don't know of anyone working on it, and it still crashes gmod if you try to run it.
my gmod runs it just fine, although the unfinished bits of the gamemode obviously don't work
my gmod runs it just fine, although the unfinished bits of the gamemode obviously don't work
So it doesn't crash anymore? That's good news.
The svn is not working for me.....
Wait! i think i remember something like this on Gmod 9, Where u could walk around the whole planet and stuff.... but it was still in beta at the time but was still fun as fuck to walk around on, after about a week the server vanished and i never seen it again... after a while i doubted my self that it was a real map :o
So it doesn't crash anymore? That's good news.
nope, runs smoothly = D We just need to get the players and their views rotated right, and get some friction in there. If we could get someone who knew how to code Lua in here, I got mathematic methods for the angles figured out im pretty sure. At least for sphere planets, cuz my head starts hurtin thinkin how to get a hotdog or donut world to work, and anyway theyd just have to translate the math to Lua, and hopefully, we got UU edit: while browsing valve's developer community, i found something that might make everyone who was trying to solve the sphere problem rip their hair out (even tho theres already solutions to it). an entity called prop_sphere which has a "perfectly spherical vphysics collision model" and can cast shadows. you have to edit some fgds in order to use it however. for anyone who would like to check it out, it's here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Prop_sphere
Where can I find this because the svn link seems to be broken. I always wanted to walk around on a planet like in Spore :C
bump, bump, bump bump bump bump bump bump, bump! and another one bumps and another one bumps and another one bumps the thread (User was banned for this post ("Bump" - Terrenteller))
The SVN link is dead... I get this when I try to download... Checkout from svn://ulyssesmod.net/Universe, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Can't connect to host 'ulyssesmod.net': A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Ive read the entire forum from start to end. I think we need somebody to start organizing everybodies efforts to keeping this alive. A lot of people on here have great ideas and I realize many people think this is dead but maybe, just maybe, if we work together we can pull it off.

There have been people working on this. I knew several people who have been working on it but ended up thinking the same thing as you so they gave up. If they had kept working they probobly would have made some progress by now.
I know this is a bump. But I kind of want to see this take off again. The main problem that I see here is what people are trying to do to the player entity type, and how that does not end well in most cases, BUT nobody seems to have come to the conclusion that the default player entity is the problem and not only abandon it, but start working on a new player entity specifically for this. As a custom entity would be easier to handle than an already existing entity with fixed parameters.
