Stickly Man! Contacted VALVe about the engine bug with planets, they told us that they do not offer support on their 'free' tools. Sorry guys, unless someone knows of another way to do the planets, the Source engine simply cannot handle this gamemode.
If you're talking about the sphere, couldn't you just make a sphere in 3ds max and compile it and make it a prop_static?
This is a good idea. I should've checked the gamemode section one month ago.:sigh:
... more like we need a god @ life rating?
Naturally it's the simplest part that everyone appreciates
"Edit: bump"
The SVN isn't working :( Can't connect to host 'ulyssesmod.net': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
The SVN isn't working :( Can't connect to host 'ulyssesmod.net': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
This is from '07... Not only that, but it was never finished.
oh... i never know this is that old
The SVN isn't working :( Can't connect to host 'ulyssesmod.net': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
I'm having this same problem does anyone know how to fix it?
This is from '07... Not only that, but it was never finished.
Looky there.
AMAZING!!! It would be GREAT to finnally replace spacebuild with this! I can imagine a spore game-mode being created with this XD Seriously I love the idea, but how will you map things such as lakes and mountains, ect. onto this if you cannot make displacements on a non-quad brush?
FUCKING NECRO >.> I thought UU died a long time ago, with the quittance of some respectable people.
leave these things to die, no matter how awesome they sound. If it was posted 2 years ago then there's no point bumping it hoping for the gamemode to be revived.
Bump
Unless someone can fix the engine (or convince valve that we matter and we want their bug fixed), this isn't happening.
What's wrong with the engine now?
Unless someone can fix the engine (or convince valve that we matter and we want their bug fixed), this isn't happening.
It didn't happen 2 years ago, it's not going to happen now or anytime soon.
It didn't happen 2 years ago, it's not going to happen now or anytime soon.
It's actually fairly recent... the engine started crashing on sphere based maps with orange box.
IMO, bringing Gmod over to the OB engine was the worst move Garry could have made. And I don't know if the OB should really be considered 'fairly recent' any more, it's over a year ago now.

More lag, higher sys.requirements, maybe?
More lag, higher sys.requirements, maybe?
Better gfx, maybe?
It's actually fairly recent... the engine started crashing on sphere based maps with orange box.
Doesn't for me
You are a idiot, how was the OB the worst thing ever done???????
Because his computer is equivalent to that of a calculator built in the year 1990 and can't run the orange box.
The engine crashes on maps using extremely large and complex displacement maps-- which was how we got our perfect sphere beforehand.. Unless theres any way to fix the problem, or find a new way to create a PERFECT sphere in hammer, we've got nothing to work with.

I can make a sphere model with an extraordinarily accurate collision model. It'll just have something like 500 collision parts.
this thing is fucking 2 years old, i dont think any one is working on it, so top bumping and stop posing.
I wouldn't mind seeing some of the new player hull binds used for this. Then we can simply create our own player movement that works just like that special noclip addon from a while ago (uClip?). As long as we use that to override regular movement and have the planetary gravity binding us to a planet, we will be set. This shouldn't be too hard to finish now.
Does anyone have any mirrors for this anymore?
There is a SVN in the OP.
There is a SVN in the OP.
That has been down for a while now. :(
This cannot die!
