Updated to work better with the latest update. I've removed all the animation fixes, cause there's no need for them. I can't remember what was in the last version but I've added the option to use alternate movement to stay within radius. This means you'll move relative to the camera, like in some RPG's. There's a drag thing too. Bind something to ctp_drag or +ctp_drag so you can drag the camera around. There are also some other things I've added which I can't remember what was. I also hear they're rolling back the update, but I'm guessing they'll keep the thirdperson animation stuff. At least I hope they will. [editline]02:46AM[/editline] Yeah update reverted. I can't be assed to revert this again. They'll probably add thirdperson stuff later or something. So you'll have to live with spazzy animations for now. :frown:

Whenever I'm in third person with this mod, I lag like hell. My game gets the jitters. Am I the only one?

Okay, it looks like Mad Cows weapons were the culprit. I wasn't even using them, but as soon as I got rid of them CTP started working like a dream. Woops, didn't mean to doublepost.
Okay, cool. Remember that I disabled the laggy animations fixes. So you'll have to wait till the update with better animations is out for it to work 100% like a dream. :smile:
This is very cool, and I enjoy it greatly. However, one small issue I, and others have noticed: Occasionally, the camera glitches out and sets itself into the middle of the head. I can find no fix other then just rejoining the server. In the console it prints "Hook 'CTP CalcView' Failed: autorun/CTP.lua:249: Tried to use a NULL entity!" at the time the bug happens.
Does this happen when you target things? For now you can type "lua_openscript_cl autorun/ctp.lua" instead of rejoining. But I need to know when it happens. I'm using the function in several places. [editline]03:15PM[/editline] LocalPlayer (yourself) can't be NULL, it has to be when you're targetting stuff.
Nope, I don't use the targeting. Its most recent occurrence was after taking damage from a trigger_hurt, might be related, might not be.

When using this, i get mass spam in my console AddBeam: Error - added too many beams![0/0] It does not show p on my screen but when going into console to type something all i see is this, fix please?

You have something else doing that on your player model or something. Does it also happen when you see yourself with a camera?
I'd have to check, but my camera HAS been crashing me when using your hat tool... Ok the following things are causing me to crash since update OR since i downloaded 2 of your addons: Dying, and clicking to respawn Viewing myself in camera with a suit (PAC) sometimes just when stopping/starting action (opening or closing the spaqnmenu and such. also toggling your CTP sometimes) These crashes are the kind that have the looping sounds, not an instant random close, and, because i have windows 7, i dont get a clear error message, just that my game has stopped working. As to your question, No, the addbeams error does nto show up when viewing in camera, but it DOES when using the sv_cheats thirdperson or your CTP thirdperson. EDIT: Heres a list of my addons: Wiresvm Phxsvn CTP PAC NPCControl Clippingtool(by Ralle) advanced dupe weight tool a few gamemodes Thats all i can think of...
there needs to be a button that resets ALL settings, not just the sliders.

Does it also happen when you view yourself with a camera?[/QUOTE] Got this problem too, although slightly different: When I start the thirdperson view, it runs smoothly, but after a few seconds it starts to "build up" lag. As in, my fps starts dropping a bit, and ever second a bit more. Until some critical point where it drops to 0 for a second and recovers again with perfect fps. And then it starts doing the same thing again. As too the camera thing, nope. Doesn't lag a bit. Nor does any other third person view I use produce that kind of fps drops. EDIT: small bit of information, using net_graph I can see that it isnt just my gpu fps that drops, but also the cpu fps. Drops to about 10, then hangs for a second ( as said before ). I'm gonna look if some addon I have is the cullprit, since there might just be one that causes it. EDIT2: some extra information, apparently the CTP menu has started going blank on me whenever I'm playing single player. It just displays nothing. It didn't display any errors in console though, so I'm not sure what is causing it. On the laggy thing, I've noticed the camera has trouble keeping up with the player at the time my fps drops. It's also related to how much stuff there is on the screen, meaning things like npc's running around will make the lagging worse. As if the CTP addon drains nearly 100% cpu, and every tiny bit too much on the map makes it go nuts. On a related note, the +ctp_target command has failed working. I binded it to a key, I set the settings right, but it just doesn't do anything anymore. I also tried rebinding the key, ect ect, yet nothing worked.
Is there someway to just copy a part of the code? so as soon as a person spawn the camera is already in third person, without the menu, since im making a deathmatch based gamemode :)
You don't need to use CTP, you just need to use default Valve console thirdperson and tweak the settings for the server (something like cl_yaw, cl_roll and another thing, but I haven't used since I fixed default thirdperson last time). Although I agree that CTP would have better functions. Perhaps a setting to make it server-default enabled so if you don't have it, you still play in third person but if you do, you can't change the preset.

Is there a way to make it so this is only active when you enter a vehicle?
