Server is being back to DDOSville.
This is NOT 600 dollars a month worth of DDOS protection. All it did was put a couple seconds inbetween laggy as fuck and down.
Oh for fucks sake, I hear GMT is back and the first thing I find out about it is it just got DDoS'd.
All the gamemode servers are down.

Some kid who got banned paid some "hired dddoser" to ddos the servers IIRC
God wtf is wrong with people? Can't we have fun, not our fault that a pissy kiddie got banned for not following like 5 simple rules!

You also should not assume that it is a child who will 'run out of his allowance'. Plenty of adults are idiots too, this could be the work of some spiteful mid-20's man just as easily.

If you knew the GMod community right, that would be doubtful
It would be fun to see something more cooperative where the people in each team would have to really team up. You mostly have fast paced individual gamemodes right now, it would be fun to see something else. Either something strategy like Sassilation or something like Man vs Robot or whatever the new tf2 thingy was called.
I loved GMT, remember the first week when the servers were full and you sat in the gmod console repeatedly doing "connect gmodtower.org", and after 20min you were screaming on skype "YEEES I JUST CAME ON!" and they were like "Aw man, awsome!"

One thing though I had problems with.
The server was getting mega ddosed and kept on crashing last sunday

A total of 813 awesome people have donated to GMod Tower! that's insane .
Yeah, Yogscast ended up playing on our server and made a couple of videos on it which means our servers are now insanely packed. Mac actually had to set up another lobby and even that's filled at peak times.
But yeah, Christmas update's out and it has been for a while now. If you haven't already checked it out there's going to be a promotional trailer soon just to say Merry Christmas from us and you can check all the new stuff we've done.

I played a few rounds of PVP and it was pretty fun. I really admire the whole quake feel. But the ranged weapons definitely need to pack more punch, and health/ammo need to respawn faster in small quantities. Melee-ing people seems to be the only valid tactic, while spraying people with bullets seems fruitless more often then not.
when i join i cant walk then im typing "retry" in console then the game crashes :S

Guys, after a clean install with only a couple of mods that had already been installed (all through the Workshop), I installed GMT using the Update Tool thing and now Garry's Mod simply won't launch. At all. I press launch, it whirs for a bit, 'Syncing' pops up for literally a millisecond on the Garry Mod tab on my Steam Library, and nothing happens. Checked my Task Manager, hl2.exe isn't there at all. Currently redownloading everything. Again. I don't really want to download any more than 1600MB+ of information, so if anybody knows how to fix this please say. I'd like to be able to play Garry's Mod... ever.

It think that means everything didn't load or something like that. Anyways, just disconnect and try again, it should work then.

Thats not a good thing, it died last time because it couldn't develop fast enough to keep up with the length of time people playing. Therefore in the space of 4 months you could expect to see no changes and probably have loads of money and 15 of every item.
They have also decided to expand servers to meet demand which is not the sort of thing high quality gamemodes should be doing. It should maintain exclusivity and ensure that its main priority is not the advertising of the group as a whole. After all the Yogscast are hardly renowned for attracting clientele, more so a mob of kids who what to be on their video and camp at every place they have been to get to them.

We currently have two gamemodes far in progress. Not to mention we update the lobby about every two months now.

And you know these gamemodes are going to be of interest to people? Two months is a long time considering how quickly you can buy everything if you are playing the right gamemode.

We've had players in our playerbase who have bought everything for almost half a year. It's not about seeing who can buy the most stuff, they come back to play the gamemodes.
