gonna be a surprise? Hm, can't wait to see how big of a update
Also, I dont know if its just my server, or if its darkrp, or what, but when darkrp loads, it says like a few convars, such as rp_hungermod doesnt exist and, I dont know the whole error, but hungermods bar on the HUD, and the food is in the F4, if there a way to fix this? hungermod is like partly on, but the bar never decreases and you never gotta eat
Could I just make a suggestion? Nothing to bold, but It seems that over the past two threads, you have been dismissing most of the communities ideas. Perhaps now you can start putting all the ideas into a file, and then picking out the ones which best suit your liking?

Inventory or a "saving pocket" being the most requested.

Many of us have been requesting very simple improvements into DarkRP for a while now and he hasn't bothered to look at them or even discuss them, I gave up and moved onto something bigger.

The saving inventory isn't "all the suggestions ever made"

and about the file, it's called "Google code issues"
[lua]WARNING: Big update: Report errors and other problems to me!

[FIX] Compatability with extra seats in VUMod
[FIX] animations with latest GMOD update

Fixed rp_resetallsettings not working on dedicated servers

Saving and manual creating of the police consoles will be made later.[/lua]
Dare to say I don't listen to suggestions again.
As most others on here who requested a inventory that would be extremely unfair to others trying to steal stuff
the inventory would be a extremely bad idea in my mind
There is no reason for a saving pocket, most servers have rp_droppocketondeath on, so they would lose everything
Off Topic

Are you kidding me?
Do you not read any posts but the last post?
Just because every time someone requests something, and he doesn't have it released in a few hours doesn't mean he doesn't read them
There is a reason most ignore the "inventory plz" requests, as that's allot of work, for nothing really
Oh, you moved on to something bigger.......why are you still complaining?

I'm not, I requested alot of easy to do improvements to DarkRP as many of us have months ago and they were never bothered with, little things that improved the RP.
I checked the changelog and almost nothing that big or suggested has been added (unless its outdated) in the last few months.
I wasn't specifically saying anything about inventory but if you must bring it up, it's not alot of work, it's already made as a addon, let alone edited DarkRP servers have inventory systems, as well as many gamemodes.
He's even made a pockets swep, if you think that a inventory addition would be hard then you're just insulting the makers capabilities at lua. If he honestly couldn't code it on his own or even look at the many examples that are all around him then well, you get what I mean.
and nothing much? Seems like you aren't reading the posts, alot of people complain about losing stuff all the time involving DarkRP, the only thing you ever keep on DarkRP is money, very advanced i'm sure. Some servers people just go around destroying everything because they have farmed unlimited money.
The point is a inventory system opens up many new possibilities for modifications, brings in more people because i'm sure MOST people would like it and it causes less frustration.
I didn't even suggest a inventory system but there you go, some of us want to play DarkRP with some actual serious RP afterall.
It's the fact that he doesn't even address most suggestions that annoys people.
Edit:
What i said came out wrong, i never insulted FPtje
Plus, im dropping it before this thread turns in to a trollfest

it might work out, and it might not

But players cannot possibly predict when the server will crash, so they would have to mostly keep their stuff in their inventories, which damages the role-play in so many ways, I explained it all at the bottom of this post: http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=21689946&postcount=724
Lol, exactly Drakehawke
Not like it matters, but just to clear up what Gurrazor said
he said darkrp/cakescript g2 doesnt require a MySQL database, darkrp uses SQLLite
So they use SQL databases, just not a MySQL database :D

Possibly, it's just a concept and it depends really on how its made and how it would work, obviously not all inventory systems are the same, it depends how he'd want to make it like but even still, it would probably be better then what we have now, money and everything that dissapears.
If people are just going to put everything in their inventory theres no point in them playing really lol but like I said it depends how its made, how you lose items ect.

DarkRP uses datastream, and/or glon
Im pretty sure it uses SQLLite, due to the whole data.lua file, since it has allot of "sql.Query"
DarkRP uses datastream, and/or glon
DarkRP uses datastream for server/client data transfer, like most Lua scripts. However, DarkRP uses SQLite format to save data.
Also, at no point did I say that inventory was the only request, nor did I imply it. I was simply stating that something that a "saving pocket" has been the most requested recently.
Just to note, all of those links you provided were mainly fixes to a preexisting function/problem. It has been a while since the last new feature (besides you just releasing /911).
killar456, I agree with Shadow_Hedgehog on several points, I have seen simple suggestions and fixes simply dismissed over the past several months. I have read every post since a month before Falco released 2.3.1, and PhilXYZ was the one working on it.
I disagree, however, how the way he says it, it sounds like everything is ignored, when that is incorrect. Falco does spend a lot of time fixing petty bugs in DarkRP, and overall improving the gamemode, but it simply seems like he doesn't always look at the script in the community's favor. Sure, it is his right as the developer, but to maintain the script's level of popularity, you really have to pay attention to the community's views and opinions.
I'm also not trying to imply in any way that Falco is a bad developer. He works quick to fix bugs, and actively works on it while supporting the community. In general, he is a great developer, but everyone has different points of views, and to really grasp what the community wants/needs, you do have to spend that time to look at it from those different angles.
It is also hard considering that the community also doesn't always know what it wants, so you have to add that in to the equation. Developing a popular script is hard. From not-so-constructive criticism to community rants, it is really a workload that involves a lot of abuse, no matter how hard you work.
Anyways, I guess a post of both criticism and sympathy.
You say I have been rejecting ideas from the community the past few months, but besides the saving inventory I don't know what you're talking about. What suggestions are you talking about?
Could you post the fix for VUmod seats separately? I don't want to look through the 3500+ lines of code the gamemode has..

Ah, fuck. Don't use the buyvehicle thing built into DarkRP for my NPC. Oh well, I'll find a workaround.

I agree, it's just that he doesn't or hasn't always addressed improvements and problems that could be improved by so and so, just ignored them without saying a thing, a easy example being the last two pages.
The suggestions and such I was looking at and other people were in the old thread so I won't dig them up and since i'm not using DarkRP and moved onto something else I don't care about the suggestions any more. Obviously not everythig is ignored, just seemed to me that really helpful and useful additions were tossed aside without a word.
I'm going by the chagelog as well, not much has been added apparently within a few months but I don't know what he does with his coding.
Not saying he's a bad creator or anything but maybe it'll improve with 2 people now on the team.
Huge update coming up:
[lua][CHANGE] The way Entities like money and money printers show their information. Thanks MavBear!
[CHANGE] Made a lot of functions local, this will give you better overall performance both on server and client
[REMOVE] SendLua's to open keys and F4 menu. I don't even know why I had them there in the first place
[REMOVE] FindPlayerBySID, SID is the player's UserID, Player(SID) does exactly the same thing.
[REMOVE] Unused functions such as rp_paydaytime and FoodHeal[/lua]
The first change in above changelog is an idea/suggestion by MavBear.
He had made it himself on his server before I made it.
I got his permission and made it myself, I also gave my own twist to it.

This was fixed
I WILL fix this one (haven't done it yet)
And about the saving inventory and saving vehicles, This is why we shouldn't have that
Perhaps you are right, yet it hasn't failed on other (usually serious) RP game modes and even non RP gamemodes.
Some people like to edit DarkRP to be serious, I can see inventories being a problem in, clearly unserious/minge servers but if the money rates were increased and item cost was increased in more serious servers and items were harder to obtain, having a inventory would improve the server.
Then again it just all depends on how it would be used, it's not a completely bad idea, probably more of a...you updated the SVN, the less serious servers would probably use inventories and some of the things listed, might happen..might. Again it just depends on several factors.
Also, the last two pages you listened to bugs and a question, doesn't realy fall under the suggestions category.
[editline]02:58PM[/editline]
Additionally i'd like to say that inventories do add more possibilities, I was just thinking about Gmod Tower and how there inventory system allows rarer and exclusive items to be traded.
More involvement in items would follow a inventory system, although this depends how you make it. If you make it so, a person loses all there items or a certain amount of items, ect ect when they die, it would eliminate people who just get everything and farm. Actually like I said many of the points listed in that post aren't completely true because like I said, it depends how the inventory system works.
A inventory system is too vague, they can be very different but yeah, just the simple...store a item and keep it forever (crappy) system wouldn't be very good.
Not like I care anyway, I don't play DarkRP anymore.
Ok...
Update on FPP in DarkRP:
FPP: When you can't pick up a prop, it now really LOOKS like you can't pick up a prop.
Before: When physgunning a prop you can't touch the physgun beam still looks like it picked up the prop
After: The physgun beam doesn't look like it picked up the prop anymore unless you really pick up the prop
Don't think it's a Garry's mod update, it's me :D

Confusing.
Why don't you just make money and items not as easily obtainable? That would solve everything..
Why don't you just make money and items not as easily obtainable? That would solve everything..
Of course, except for their argument is that the less serious (mingey) darkrp servers wont do this and because of this, inventories would screw up the system even more.
Then again, if people like going to a DarkRP server, earning loads of money and buying really cheap shipments, thats also a issue and is upto the server hosts decision, inventories doesn't affect how bad a server host wants to make his DarkRP.
Okay, I was bored.
So I decided to go through the entirety of the DarkRP 2.4.X and 2.3.7+ threads, and list any suggestions made that Falco hasn't added to DarkRP/ignored.
All those marked with a * are the ones that Falco actually replied about, and denied.
All the others were suggested then ignored.
Not having a go at Falco here, I just honestly think some of these suggestions have some real potential.
A few of these are my own suggestions, but the majority I take no credit for.
I don't agree with quite a few of them myself, but hey.
- Prevent NPC arresting
- Add option to enable/disable /buyhealth
- Command to restrict number of shipments a player can buy
- A way of allowing certain people to get a job, even when rp_restrictallteams is on, could be done via rp_grant
* - Restrict entity buying to specific areas
* - Custom chat box
- Make /drop actually drop the weapon rather than throw it
- More agendas (I think he may have said he would do this..)
- How to add more custom ammo
- Shipments have to be ordered and take a specific amount of time to create before being delivered to the gun dealer's pocket
* - Option to disable admins F4 tab
- Ability to set certain jobs run/walk/jump speed
- Hitman system
* - Printers store cash inside, owner retrieves with 'e' and thieves steal by destroying it.
* - Blur/slow down upon damage taking
* - Block suicide command
* - Fists/keys combo SWEP that can push people
- Cops can choose how long someone is arrested for (min/max times though)
* - Banking system
- Add option to prevent picklocking of an admins doors (stupid in my opinion)
- Ammo shipments for gun dealers and block /buyammo when there's a gun dealer

- Police scanner that can be bought by players and used to listen to CP group chat
- Pickpocket system

- DarkRP Skills
- Stamina system
- Demote to hobo instead of citizen
- NPCs to control DarkRP buying/selling of stuff

- Cops/admins can title CP only/unownable doors.
- Mayor requires being a CP for x minutes
- NPC shipments
- Radio system (music)
- Clan system
- Bed SENT
- Jobs save on disconnect
- Guns have to be built from separate components
- Admins can spawn banned props
- Colour coded money bags (10s, 100s, 1000s, 10000s, etc)
- Props are destroyed by fire
- Fire extinguishers
- Matches/lighter (to start fires)
- Mayoral broadcasting system
- Everyone's a hobo until they buy a door
- Money is shown on scoreboard
* - DarkRP achievements
* - Admins can cancel votes
* - Inventory system
I think some of them are genuinely good ideas, some are complete bullshit and some are just not worth the hassle of making them.
I think Falco/Eusion/Everyone else should look through that list and decide for yourselves which are good and bad.
So there you have it, a list of all the rejected/ignored suggestions from the past two DarkRP threads, since July 2009, so just under a years worth of suggestions there.
I hope the time I spent compiling that list was worth what you can do with it =P
Falco: I'm not having a go or trying to offend you here, just giving you some ideas :)
What exactly does the console do? I tried using /911 and /cr to see if it would do anything and to my knowledge its just a black screen.
Why does everyone complain about it not having an inventory?
Simply remove pocket, add InventoryAddon, code a little to it, and bam you've got an inventory.
It's not hard...

Make SNPC's yourself, not hard or impossible.
Just search the code to delete most of the stuff, it's easily done, you don't have to be a retard.
Half of the other ideas are just stupid, and easily could be changed by editing the code... Very simply. You don't have to learn much.
