I'm nitpicking, but why are Combine Soldiers available? The human versions of the Overwatch didn't exist until long after the Seven Hour War. You could replace them with some kind of alien-looking ones, it'd make a lot more sense. I like the look though, especially the jets on the map. I was thinking "Will there be jets?" as soon as they wooshed on screen. I loved it.

However, I think it would just be more simple to keep them there for simplicity so the custom content can be limited. I think it'd just be more efficient to stick with the generic content most players have. +1 for the jets as well! I'd love to be able to fly some jets around, I'm just a little worried that the map size may make the game a little bit too laggy.
Why not just normal combine soldiers? So what if it doesn't make sense, I mean as long as they look like they're geared for war I think it'll be fine.

The Overwatch wasn't established after sometime down the road of the Universal Union's occupation. In general gameplay terms, doesn't really matter.

Also, just wondering, but will there be different factions like in some other Battlefield games that can vary on maps? For example, US Army vs. Combine, Royal Army vs. Combine, Russian Army vs. Combine, etc., or will it just boil down to Humans vs. Combine? Just wondering for details' sake.
Hey, it's the modeller here (the guy who modelled the sniper) giving you guys an update on the next weapon. I am still a newbie at modelling so go easy on me, and I am also NOT FINISHED WITH THIS MODEL YET. Nick wanted me to design a Combine Pulse Rifle such as one like the current Combine Standard Overwatch AR-2. Nick wants this to be the AR-3, but for more realism I suggested the AR-1--since the model doesn't have a magazine and since we don't even know the existence of the AR-2 during the 7 Hour War. After rading through this thread, I still think that more could be done to show the combine soldiers as synths, it's a really interesting look and would contribute to the uniqueness of the gamemode. Maybe you could merge the synth body type with oberwatch, so one of its arms is a synthetic grenade launcher or something? i dont know

I might as well just make them synth with pre-built weapons for them and I can call it Man VS Machine. If I do that, combine won't even be able to choose their guns. And even if they could, it would make em OP. I'm sticking to the regular type of combine soldier. Obviously it's not gonna be the Overwatch, I'll be making modifications to make them look different. But I will be sticking to the humanoid form of Combine Soldier.

Ladies and gentlemen! I present, the Combine AR-1 pulse rifle, the predecessor to the AR-2. Fully modelled and ready for texture and animation. I designed and modelled the weapon myself to look like not only a Combine weapon, but to function like one too. I'm excited to see this get animated. I couldn't render it this time unfortunately, because the barrel and grip would disappear in the rendered results for some reason. [IMG]http://i48.tinypic.com/ka22w4.png[/IMG]

Welp, we have been dead for about 2 weeks now, but hey, holidays. Anyways I hope we can start rolling out some new content soon. I recently started making a new ViewModel shake system, and I'd show case it if my laptop would record over 30 FPS...
Have you thought of implementing the OICW? And other synth technology like the wasteland scanner if there are maps in the wasteland?
Not sure for the OICW, but I was thinking of using the scanner as a type of UAV for the Recon. All in good times though.
