Sucks we never got to play sassilization one last time
<3 though
Oh gosh. I never got the news. Sassilization. Gone? Forever? I thought they ran a great community! I... Agh, I wish I could play just 1 more time. My heart just feels... so depressed right now. I loved their Deathrun, and Zombie Escape, Everything. Those copycats. I so wish I could ban them from every server right now. I guess that's how life goes doesn't it? The bullies eventually come in, and stop it all. I loved you guys. Rest in peace.
Uhhh, yes it is. I've played it, it's the exact same way as the script use to be, at least it was last I played on it. And when I played on them the server name had orbitalvoid's url in it, soooo?
He's one of the developers... He tends to know his shit... soooo...
Darkrp shitville claims another.
You came on the server. Trolling and started bitching about how I shouldn't be hosting. "Make your own gamemode" and other remarks. So yeah.

Lol, fibao is dumb.
Honestly though I think that you should try and make your own gamemodes with a little bit of flair for bunny hop and others, these had sassilizations touches why not mod them and add your own influences in places, or (like me) code your own bunny hop/whatever.
I saw a server today that had replaced its eye burn scoreboard with a modified sass one... its worked well.
So sad to see Sass go. I loved them. I wish I would have gotten a heads up so I could go enjoy my VIP one more time...
(You have to play monthly on LifePunch, which is a no no to me.)
Sassilization had the first gmod servers I ever played on and are one of the few communties I donated towards. I think I will never forget my time with them.
I also find it wonderful of you to release the base, there is so much great code in there. Guess I'll use some of it one day.
IMHO, if you didn't donate towards Sass, then you don't have the right to run their code...
I don't think i'll be putting a server up with Sass' code, it'll never live up to it's predecessors.
Rest In Piece Sassilization.
Eventually, we'll see a server up that's innovative in a way possibly, and hopefully is fun as well. I might be one of those innovators, I'm a novice at lua right now, but I am learning. I'll use these as reference gamemodes to learn from rather than to run a copy of.
Meh, I've seen servers that have been able to reproduce code and made some very nice stuff out of it! Sassilization lives on very nicely like this.
:(
[editline]27th June 2013[/editline]
P.S. To anyone interested in running a Deathrun server: There's about a hundred or so map-associated Lua files that fix just about every exploit, glitch, bug, etc. in the maps. I spent a lot of time on those, so it'd be a shame to see them go to waste.
Even servers that don't run on Sass's code base could benefit from it — most of the fixes contain either simple calls to modular code (STGamemodes.TouchEvents, STGamemodes.KeyValues, etc.), which is quite easy to copy/port over, or even simpler hooks or stock function calls. We even had a system in place for claiming multiple buttons that are part of the same trap so that other deaths can't steal them (STGamemodes.Buttons). If you interested and would like more info, by all means, PM me.
This also applies to Bunny Hop and Climb, by the way.
It's free, of course, as it's part of the Sassilization Deathrun code that was publicly released.
You'll find the map fixes in STGamemodes/deathrun/gamemode/maps. The code therein references or calls code in several Lua files which you can find in STGamemodes/STBase/gamemode/server (dmgfilter.lua, keyvalues.lua, touchevents.lua…). I suggest implementing or copying all the files in this directory.
The code that loads the map fixes themselves is, I believe, in STGamemodes/STBase/gamemode/modules/maps.
The button claiming code is in STGamemodes/deathrun/gamemode/server/buttons.lua; however, I recall finding scraps of it all around the place. It'd be best if you were running a version of Sassilization Deathrun rather than a custom gamemode for this.
For further information regarding setting up the Sassilization gamemode(s) or implementing their code, contact Aaron (lead dev on STGamemodes):
The forums. I should probably go reword that.
Oh, sweet! Thanks!
Edit:
What about user/pass stuff?
It seems that this is the only page still up (although that was restored recently too).
As far as the usernames and passwords are concerned, I assume it's going to work like it did before, with Sassilization accounts.

These 2 are by far better than the custom sass one. There are many more out there.
That isn't Sassilization and the servers don't have anything to do with orbitalvoid.
For the record, OrbitalVoid is Hatefuleagle's community in the works and it was an official Sassilization RTS server. Hateful has been one of the recent developers of the RTS and we were testing it. Then they stopped hosting it for some reason. Was fun for a short time.
