Terrebly sorry that I forgot to bring in news on the thread. Heres the current things I didzy over the past few days: -Working on a new ship design. -Nebula has been improved. -Ship textures has better reflection/cubemap details. -Looking for a nice high res skybox texture -Working on the turret slots -Added new models (The Dolphin and The Crossbow) -Optimized some shit which I discovered while working on Winter Night -Unsure to add sunbeams and whatnot. -AntiD2 has been added to the credits for drawing some particle and sprite textures -Spacegates is being experimented on whereas you should be able to hyperjump through them into other Devinity 2 servers (No you can't have Devinity 2 BOOHOO!!) -Kickin' kids -Worked on the engine effects aswell as the warp effect of the ships to be a little better. -New asteroid model. Alot better than the donut one. -Added an asteroid effect on it aswell just to make some ambience on it. Things I need from YOU: -Suggestions reguarding how the pirates should act. This, for example, could be they patrol their pirate base. -Drone suggestions + what they do. -Building suggestions (for the planet builder) -Factions mhm?? kkz.
One of the obious things for pirates to do would be to attack players that have large or full cargo. Technically speaking, a pirate gains nothing killing a player who has no "precious" cargo. Same goes for the more powerful ships. It wouldn't be smart to tackle a player with a large ship unless the pirate has a ship that could rival it or has nearby pirates to assist it. A question about the ship textures. Do the ships each have their own respective texture or do they all pull in from different files?
Pirates should be a special class that act like regular travellers and can suddenly attack you and reveal themselfs causing to the player to be come defensive and cautious. Pirates should be only given to certain people that wouldn't abuse it and would be a good strategist. Pirates also get special laser cannons since they stole some from a cool ass flee probably.(They will probably be outnumbered and no lvl 1 should be able to take em out with a fight)

Pirates should earn/buy their equipment, not have special shit that can blow up a ship in one hit or something. It's not a bad idea. I'd think it would be enjoyable to play as/against a pirate. Only goes to stratedgists or players with a very high level. That's just adding on to this idea.
There's this really old game that's kind of like a spaceship shooter, called Hardwar. In that game, there were two factions that would attack and steal from eachother (and you, if you harass them or work with their rivals...) They were more interested in group attacks and large heists, rather than petty loot. Among the big league gangs were the 'lone wolf' pirates. They had regular names, and unless provoked, did nothing out of the ordinary. But when nobody is suspecting, they find people with good cargo, pounce, run, ??? , profit! I was thinking maybe this idea of big time pirating and small time pirating could be incorporated into this project, as similar events take place on games such as Eve.

Maw, What do you plan for the planet system? Does 1 person own a planet (which would be unfair) or does a faction own a planet.
Should be a conquering feature. Maybe like Starwars Empire at War, but no land invasion. Factions should be made by respected/high level players. Maybe only administrators... But territory should look like it does in Sid Meier's Civilization :3:. Just my idea. I only would like it considered because I believe my ideas can [I](mostly)[/I] be useful/fun.

You need a faction/clan/corp with atleast 10 members before you can controll a planet. Else it crumbles and becomes neutral again.
A faction logo tool of some sort.
About factions: Factions should be limited to a certain number and maybe 5 members have to join to make it an official faction. When a member of the faction gains money, the member can choose if X% goes into a storage box which is then controlled by the faction leader or leaders. A faction should have a space station of its own where it can set prices but everything it sells must either be forged or brought in via trading.

Maybe to stop Powerful factions theirs a limit on the amount members of a faction and you have to pay a certain amount of money to make that bigger

I have a shit week this week. I can predict the next few days will also be shitty. -snip- anyways, ON-TOPIC: Progress has been going slow lately, due to experiments on my framework, MawBase. Trying to improve my lua skills, so I can make Devinity 2 and Winter Night a lot more stable and efficient. :)
This is like...EXACTLY what i wanted, a massive space RPG that uses scaling to simulate a larger environment, reminds me of games like Eternal silence, where a teleportation and scaling system made the map seem alot bigger than it really was. Keep up the good work and i hope a public server will be releaased within the next month or so. Also, are there going to be NPC ships that fly around?

Had a disaster on Devinity 2. I attempted to update it to the latest MawBase 2.05 framework as I noticed the gamemode was ironicly not optimized enough after experimenting like heck on MawBase. I will be introducing UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF SOLAR SYSTEMS. The trick with this is that the amount of solar systems being runned simultaneously, depends on players on the server. The gamemode will propably start with around 50 solar system and let you people explore the other few thousands ;P. Each solar system contains a jump gate where you can travel to any solar system. Using MawBase 2.05 I am able to change the skybox texture quick and easy on every solar system so you have a feeling that you are entering another server or map. Another thing here is improvements in lighting and texture details. The details has been improved just like the Population 2 textures. (Go watch the population 1 thread for details) In addition to unlimited solar system, there will ofcourse be many planets to occupy and ofcourse there are solar systems that offer better resources and materials that seems to be rare, which makes it worth defending. you can claim a solar system if you have an organization. The pirates will be watching these solar systems and engade miners and various ships. Voice Chat has also been limited to be able to talk to everyone in the same solar system only. I also enabled the click and play option for Devinity 2, so you won't bitch about it again. [b]Devinity 2 had a big setback so don't expect Devinity 2 to come out anytime soon.[/b]
