I would assume people would see this and try it out though. A thread is advertising enough.
We hope for other users to pass the server onto others so firends may join off of that. I got on yesterday and we had about 12 people. Just keep on it and stay on until someone joins. Invite your friends and wait for others to join. When people see others on, they usually tend to join.
Every time I join I get stuck on 'Loading Characters', anyone else getting this?
It's probably coming from the lack of daily server restart, I'll probably get a script for that.
In my opinion this has been hyped way to much and people get turned off because it is not open source, yet is in the gmod addon section for what seems to be advertising.

Have you even read the entire thread? It might be open sourced if the server gets popular enough, this is for the good of everyone, since else we'd get hundreds of servers with only 2 people on all of them.

Quit bitching and script your own schema for nutscript if you have a problem with him not releasing it.

Well i've read the thread. It seems entirely more logical to be the other way around. Open sourcing it if it is unsuccessful. He said he didn't want a bunch of servers with 3 people in them, he wanted to centralize his gamemode. So why would he release it when his server becomes popular? That doesn't make any sense. Then all the players that disliked the main server would leave to make their own server.
If this was popular, there is no way it'd get released by the creator. It would get leaked though.
Quit bitching and script your own schema for nutscript if you have a problem with him not releasing it.
He's not bitching, you being overly aggressive makes you look immature. This guy has 5 posts and a 2014 account. I doubt his intentions are to create a game server to run a copy of this gamemode. It should be obvious that his intentions were to derail or just post a useless comment, instead of allowing him to do that why not just ignore him entirely oppose to fuel it.
In my opinion this has been hyped way to much and people get turned off because it is not open source, yet is in the gmod addon section for what seems to be advertising.
The creator wants to create a community of his own with a unique script, not everything is meant for public release. The problem with Garry's Mod at the moment is that not enough people do this. May I ask what an open source release would even benefit you with? Do you want to host a server with this gamemode?
The game doesn't have a big player base at the moment because it is still in BETA and I don't know if that makes people hesitant of joining or what. But when the game is fully completed is released with a full version, I believe others will get on and the player base will start to rise.
Please note the current majority of members on our forums are all from completely different time zones then each other, this might cause some issues in gameplay considering we will have two main timezones. I really dont see this as an issue but it would basically split the player base and I personally would not like to see that.
On a personal note, for all the features we have planned for the full release, I am sure you will all enjoy the roleplay. We are simply adding more features to allow you to experience the roleplay instead of simply just typing a bunch of /me's.
The server will be fully serious and I encourage anyone who wishes to apply for a faction before the game is fully released as you will be able to play as that faction right when the release comes out. We are looking for more Mafia and Police if anyone is interested. Please feel free to apply @ http://foxedservers.com/
Thanks,
Larry
First of all I don't want to release an unfinished gamemode, the way I coded it wasn't a way I would code it if I had a full release in plan because as of right now I'm just duck taping everything together hopping it works.
One of the main reason behind the fact that the release is unlikely is because as soon as peoples start putting up servers they will add or remove features from the game and change it completly meaning that joining a EuRoleplay server won't mean anything at all. The second reason is because I am selfish and want to enjoy the community part.
@LauScript I said I would release the gamemode if it would get popular because it would mean that peoples are actually interested into it rather that leaching my work as soon as possible.
Anyway the gamemode isn't releasable in it's current state and would be complicated to setup for anyone without the proper knowledge as some peoples don't get that it's not like dropping a darkrp folder somewhere and declare your server open.
Lots of people are in different timezones and he hasn't been advertising it too too much as far as I can see. :v:
The script is great.
The map is great.
The website is great.
He's advertised this plenty.
The problem is that the community was launched by very few people. To day after day keep a server active and energized, you need to have a large dedicated staff team. I think this gamemode could thrive if it was launched by a community with the right organisation and infrastructure. Hence, I really think Starfox64 should consider releasing his gamemode to the public.

Why isn't it like dropping a darkrp folder somewhere? You drop two folders instead of one it's essentially the same. Besides it's not like you'd have to offer support for your release.
Don't confuse me for supporting a release, I don't have a side on that.
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
By the way, new communities that require forum applications will die. Forums are for larger communities in the first place. I hadn't noticed you were doing everything via forum application. Your average player would rather find another server than apply on any forum to play.
Why do you need to apply for things? It's useless. If you're going to do that, just have an in-game application to bring up. Applying for this just isn't suitable.

I'm aiming for a realistic roleplay especially for the ECPD and the government. Also, I need to regulate the amount of police officers otherwise it would be 50% Cops and the rest Mafia/Civs/EMTs

If you wanted it realistic then why not have them be interviewed in-game and store in-game records?
You don't apply to be an emt or a police officer online. Not to mention on the roleplay level, your forum applications are deciding who gets what on the player level, not the character level.
Regulation could be done in-game on the roleplay level as well.
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
If I were you I would have the positions entirely public, and then have a ratio set up so that the cops can never be more than the players at whatever percentage.
Well then cops that are dedicated cops can't be cops if the slots are full? 1: You could create a secondary whitelist for cops that can overtake a slot.
2: You don't have enough players for this to happen at the moment.
The average age of a garry's mod player is 12-15. They'd rather play DarkRP then have to apply for a server with few people.

They WILL be in-game records(in-character), the forums for the ECPD are IC forums, faction chiefs were not brief as to how application would work, interview were also planned as a part of the application proccess.
As for the ration system thats a no I clearly don't want it to work like that.
[editline]13th September 2014[/editline]
I'd rather have a dead server than shitty DarkRP one.
I wrote a huge paragraph novel post on why I think your playerbase is so low but I think it's only going to derail.
In replacement of that paragraph I'm just going to say, I think it's pretty obvious why your playerbase is what it is, and frankly I doubt upon full release it will change noticeably. You have a ton of screens/filters that keep your average player away.
- Forum account creation and application is necessary to play on the server to do anything than be a civilian( HL2RP-Syndrome)
- Downloads ( I'm not sure if you have fastdl or not so this may or may not be inaccurate but i'm mentioning it anyways )
- Serious RP ( Less than 10% of RP players care about serious RP you're going to have to face the fact)
- Low playerbase( You obviously can't avoid this but it IS a filter in itself ).
- You have 2 cops. I could hide on the map somewhere and never be found without a doubt. Besides, those 2 cops aren't going to be on 24 hours a day all the time. ( Back to the applications.. )
It isn't going to work. The applications alone are going to kill your server, dude. I don't mean to be that dick but someone has to tell you. And the fact that you would rather have a dead server than have a "DarkRP" server says a lot in itself. As an experienced server hoster, in Serious RP, "DarkRP", and other games. Part of hosting a server is taking in new players, and making them into the player you want( By that I mean taking in the new guy, and getting him interested in RP or whatever). But that's where your chain stops, where are the new guys?
You have a great product here but you're taking the wrong route.

Still getting stuck on 'loading characters'
Still getting stuck on 'loading characters'
Same here :D
Okay, he fixed the error and here's my very first impression:
- As of right now, the net graph is going crazy: http://puu.sh/bCMQ8/69ac75a6c8.png (1 player, me, on the server, and yes it's continously)
- There should be a tutorial (i know, its beta)
- On the map there are already a lot of NPCs, shops have props in it so it really looks realistic
- I like the delivery mission, but the item you are supposed to deliver should end up in your inventory
- It takes long to move around, it would be cool if you have at least a bike at the beginning
I'll continue testing later today or within the next days.
But so far: Awesome work! Didn't find any erros.
As of now, we have merged with another community, who's name shall be kept down until release. We believe the merge with this community will allow us to provide to the server what is needs in a quicker amount of time but yet keep the same quality as it it currently has if not better. The gamemode will remain a Serious RP server using either NS or switching over to CW.
Server Update:
-Because of very slow loading times with Nut Script, there might be a chance of us switch over to Clockwork.
-It currently takes about 30-40 seconds to load in a character.
-Crafting System development has begun.
To all loyal followers of the gamemode, please note this thread as of now will be left silent for updates by myself and Starfox. When the majority of the re-coding for the gamemode is completed, another thread will be created to announce the beta launch as well as our new community.
If you have any questions for the gamemode, simply post below so Starfox and myself can answer them for you.
Thanks!

Switching to Clockwork will only make it worse. At the rate Clockwork is going, it'll be dead soon.

Actually Clockwork is going stronger than ever, the sales don't seem to stop. Plus a big update is in development currently, including HL2 RP 2. Yes, Clockwork has had a pause in development, but it is still the most popular serious roleplaying framework out there.
But of course it's totally up to the developer. If the developer does want to port this over to Clockwork they have my support 100% and can contact me via e-mail directly if they need help.

Is there any light on Severance, perhaps? I looked in the forums and the talk about it has dipped substantially.

I don't wanna go off-topic but Severance is going to be a standalone game now. Work has begun on it. The idea is to bring the kind of serious roleplaying we find in GMod to a standalone game made specifically for it. It's a standalone Clockwork basically, in Unity3D, and the first schema will be Severance and it will be awesome. Progress can be checked in The Real Severance board of CloudSixteen.com, but is only visible to members with like 100 posts or something (it does include the launcher for all alpha builds, though!)

Is it possible Clockwork's Severance will still be available? Because that was my main interest - Without offense to what your Standalone version looks like. It looks great.
Switching to Clockwork isn't really a thing anymore, I will stick with Nutscript as I don't want to waste more time converting addons. It'll be easier for me to just fix NS's exploits.
As for updates:
I currently working on an In-Game faction application system using MySQL, I've done the serverside and the VGUI to post applications, I just need to make the VGUI to manage applications and I should be done.

What'll happen when NS 1.1 comes out, will you convert it?
