I honestly wouldn't mind seeing some hollow dome sections, much like what PHX had. Creating hollow rounded boxes is more prop-intensive without them, but it's not a necessity. You know what would be really awesome, though? Flatter plates. I can't imagine how much more work that would take, but even just the smaller-dimension plates in quarter thickness (0.75 inches) would probably go over really well with the community. I sure know of a lot of potential applications.
If the superthin-plate idea goes through, maybe you can experiment with those plates but without edge-faces? I'm guessing the 2/3rd reduction in renderable tris may help with framerate issues on high-prop contraptions but I don't have time to test the claim myself. Could be worth looking into.
It wouldn't take all that much work, I could do it in an hour or two. I just wish I had made the plates thinner in the first place, adding them now will just make everyone abandon the current ones. I'll think about it. As for the plane-plate idea, I thought about doing that too but I ran into a few problems when I tested it. • Anything with a collision model thinner than 0.5 units seems to come out as an effect. If you know how to get around this let me know. • Builds in gmod are generally... imperfect. Multiplayer is only so precise, no matter how perfect you build something in singleplayer, when you spawn it in multi, there are gaps everywhere. If the props have no sides you can see through a lot of these gaps (like when using visclip), and its rather annoying. • From my small test (500 planes vs 500 cubes), there was no difference in fps. IMO, if you use that many props, you need to get out of the server anyway.
About the train wheels thing, I'd like to put in a note for when/if you start making them: -Steam train wheels (they are like really thick bike wheels) -Diesel train wheels (just what the regular PHX wheels look like) There should be an ever so slight variation. Perhaps an American, British, and European style for the steam trains, as the diesel wheels tend to be the same. Perhaps 'American' and 'European' for that one. Also, for the love of fucking god, small train wheels for steam trains. The PHX wheels are not a good size! The small wheel is too small for a steam train. Here's some: Bulleid Wheel (UK Steam): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/35/Bullied_Firth_Brown_Boxpok_wheel.JPG/220px-Bullied_Firth_Brown_Boxpok_wheel.JPG Flying Scotsman (UK Steam): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/39/Flying_Scotsman_in_Doncaster.JPG/300px-Flying_Scotsman_in_Doncaster.JPG Closeup of said wheel type: http://www.svr-engineering.co.uk/images/SVR-March-2011-004_300px.jpg Old ass royal carriage, i.e. look at the wheels (UK carriage): http://goldenagemodels.net/_images/LMS-Royal-Train-12-wheel-Dining-Car-in-LNWR-colours-iPad-Banner.jpg Regular carriage wheels are just single dark colours, usually dark grey or brown, in most cases just a black colour. Brown is usually old/rusted wheels Black-5 (UK Steam): http://locoyard.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/033-watercress-railway-ropley-ex-lms-black-5-5mt-45379.jpg Dem wheels Big Boy (US Steam) wheel: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/068/0/c/big_boy_drive_wheels_by_daxserv-d5xfwlm.jpg Another BB wheel: https://d2t1xqejof9utc.cloudfront.net/screenshots/pics/32fc9708c042acf7f4571fab49c936b9/small.JPG Random wheel: http://www.ianfryer.net/IansArtistic/images/ST4.jpg Random wheel 2: http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/124351/124351,1280588588,2/stock-photo-big-red-rusty-wheels-of-old-steam-engine-58175857.jpg Here's a good scale of steam train wheel to leading wheel: http://www.modelrailforum.com/reviews/Hornby-Rebuilt-Scott/46140_LeftFront-w.jpg It won't ALWAYS be like that, but it's a good example. Now on the off-chance the small wheel from PHX is the right size for a leading wheel, the bigger wheel is too damn small man! Here are some random wheel variants for things like carriages. Ignore the spiked tips, they need a way to connect to models, but you can have them flat in the game: http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/media/managed/medium/r8234.jpg http://www.topslotsntrains.com/topslotsntrains/uploaded_photos/HORNBY-R8096-METAL-DISC-WHEELS-12.5MM.jpg http://www.hornby.com/_assets/images/cache/shops/productdetailsmain/R8098.jpg Yeah, most of these are steam train wheels, but to be fair a diesel/electric wheel is just piss easy to do, it's literally two cylinders, you can pretty much use a carriage wheel and call it a diesel wheel.
They seem to look a bit better than PHX ones.
Could you make plate like that one
any help?? can spawn any prop added spawnicons, moved settings to garrysmod/garrysmod,im on linux ubuntu :D thank you :D
What folder did you install the addon to? It has to be garrysmod/addons/folder, make sure its not garrysmod/addons/folder/trunk or something
its in /garrysmod/addons/sprops EDIT: its working yaaay thanks
Unrezt, when I installed this on my server.. and then join it, I'm unable to see anything in the spawn lists. After a short while.. a notification pops up saying that SProps spawnlists were not installed correctly. I did however, move the settings folder to the correct place as per the instructions. I do not have this installed locally, I was testing to see if this was going to be downloaded for me upon join.
I was testing to see if this was going to be downloaded for me upon join.
It will not (because forcing people to download content just for joining your server is stupid), all clients need to download it via svn as-well.
Are there any more updates?
Ive got some train stuff, gauges/dials, and some suspension springy things (shocks, leafs) ready to add, just trying to think of other simple things to make before I do (as always, open to suggestions).

coil springs, handles of some sort, maybe another font set?
A quick suggestion, but smaller and thinner symbols. Smaller ones than you have now, and thin versions for the regular and smaller versions. By thin I mean paper thin. If you do the paper thin versions, make them square-solid, to make it easier for someone such as me to put a name on my train. :)
Use holograms, silly.
I don't use wiremod. If I do, it's extremely simple stuff, I never use anything past Adv. Podding. The whole concept of me having it is weird, but I have it pretty much so I don't see ten thousand errors a day. I also just realised that the letters already are like a solid block so I can smartsnap the centre of the U characters for example. So ignore that thing.
Can you add PHX Rails ??? Some of them are not str8 ... or have other issues ... http://www.mediafire.com/folder/tgpc004alrifg/PHX_rails

It would be really nice to get some cylinders between the size 48 and 96, it would help a lot for building.
So, one year of SProps already. Anything else you guys would like to see added?
So, one year of SProps already. Anything else you guys would like to see added?
Frames for Vehicles Are rails added? or did i miss something
Frames for Vehicles Are rails added? or did i miss something
What do you mean by 'frames'? And no, I won't be adding rails. The phx rails are fine, and they hardly ever get used anyways.
I think by "frames" gamerpaddy meant the car body before putting anything on it - hoods, doors, engines etc.
Frames for Vehicles
"Unrezt please make my vehicles for me!"
I would suggest different sizes of oval peices for certain things I build I need flat props like those. Something like this. [T]http://www.thedaycarelady.com/images/oval2.gif[/T] Bad picture I know, at work atm so I have limited picture looking up capabilities. Don't ask how I get on FP I just do.
Crankshafts, rods and that sort of thing perhaps? Ostensibly they'd be used to build engines but there's plenty of other uses for them.
Would love to see some cones at the same size as the domes. Any chance of that?
Either what Jake said or some cylinders that match the elongated domes perhaps.
