You should consider making a gamemode which uses the market as a mall to which players to go in and purchase items within the mini stores.
It would create an interesting conjoined community throughout the mall and, plus it would help promote other servers by allowing them to buy advertising space within the mall or by allowing the stores to promote the servers directly.
Heck, I would be willing to help if this becomes a thing.
I like the idea of purchased advertisements in said server.
Could even have a train station/some sort of gateway that people could check out different servers that pay to be there.
Would pay for itself and then some, plus give people a place to chill.
The gamemode with shops where you can try items before you buy was something that I'd thought about whilst developing this, so it's cool that you've thought similarly to me. I'll definitely be doing that at some point!
Looks intersting, any progress made?
This looks amazing... I can't wait for release!
What ever came of this?
What ever came of this?
I would assume it's still in development... This stuff takes a long time.
Making some good progress on this recently. I'll get it launched soon with some basic items, then I can focus on making a good library of items to get it off the ground.
Is there anything you need help with?
Maybe something in the future where you add an option to get a subscription on Pointshop Pro as a community to get your own Pointshop Pro store where you have a second currency and items only valid for that community. You will still see all the global Pointshop Pro items and will still be able to use them. You could make the communities pay like 10 pounds a month to be able to add 20 custom items and then a plan that is 20 pounds and gives you 50 custom items.
The reason why I think this is a good idea is that a lot of communities try to earn a bit of money through selling the points that you can buy items with. Also you will have a small steady monthly income from all the subscribed communities.
I have a server running if anybody would like to join and test it out. It's 10 slot vanilla sandbox but I will get others setup for gamemodes.

The website is at https://pointshop.pro/ but you won't be able to login until you've connected to the server once.
Item drops are enabled (5% chance every 5 minutes + a higher % chance for each 5 minutes you spend on the server) along with a random item and 200 points when you join and another item for joining early. Drop rates are untested so let me know if it seems to often. There may also be some horribly broken items or items that need fixing.
Please remember that everything here is for testing and may be wiped or tampered with. I have log windows open from the server and website so I can fix any issues that arise. Please try and break it so I can fix it!
The only items at the moment are the Classic Items Pack from Pointshop 1 (see https://pointshop.pro/news/1/classic-items-pack).
Thanks to anyone who helps out. Feel free to add me on Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/id/adamdburton) with any feedback/suggestions/issues.

Presumeably a bug you can just hop browser and authenticate yourself over and over, no this doesn't allow you to get more points however it means you can have more than one session on the same server
(https://gyazo.com/9010a545af2ccd6b066a356428c5edb3) I basically auth'd myself on Chrome and then used steam browser.

You only have 1 active session at the same time so whilst it can be spammy on your sessions list it doesn't actually affect anything. Thanks for pointing it out though.
Suggestions:
Item's that are found are instantly allowed to be traded / sold on the market.
Purchased items from the market are on 8//12//24 hour cooldown period for trading/selling.
Item rates need to be lowered, perhaps by 0.8%
Errors:
Whenever i holster the Skull Head, this error is produced in the console.
[ERROR] lua/pointshoppro/cl_pointshoppro.lua:85: attempt to index local 'item' (a nil value)

Not sure if this was intentional, but you're able to see the other person type !psp in the chat.

Hat & Head are technically in the same categories of each other, otherwise you get wonky loadouts like this.

EDIT:
I'm also not able to see the Skull Head aswell.
I have the Early Bird hat equipped, but don't see it ingame.

I also get that error every time I equip one of my hat items(Pan hat and Early Bird Hat), due to that I can not see any of them equipped on me. Joining the server won't give the error, only when equipping one.

Thanks for the feedback.
- Items given at registration or by drops are now instantly tradable if the item allows (won't apply to items already given).
- Items puchased on the market or from the store will keep the 24 hour cooldown.
- Lowered drop rates slightly.
- Fixed showing !psp to other players.
- Put all hats and heads (that aren't actual head replacements) in the hats slot.
I'm looking into the lua error now but I've changed files since I pushed to the workshop so it's difficult to track down.
For those of us that are really weird, think it's possible to let us rearrange our inventory on the website?

Still got some kinks to work out.

Whilst I appreciate the concept and the great amount of effort that must've gone into a system like this, what motivation is there for server owners to move to your system? Many owners (previously myself) sell points as a means of generating revenue to keep the server(s) running. While I'm aware that this is contenious ground and many disagree with the concept of selling points, donations for just doing a good job at running a server are fairly uncommon and it often has to be more a transaction than a donation (this is somewhat anecdotal but I don't think it'd be too far-fetched to assume this is common). I think a referal link system where server owners get a cut of the revenue from a player's purchase would be a fair middle-ground that could satisfy both yourself and owners. However, that's just my two cents and I'm sure that many people will disagree.
Looking forward to seeing it in action

I think something is off with this...
Dude this is actually really sick. Props if you're making this free man. I'd prob consider donating some cash to you if it turns out good. Really good idea.
Will we be able to get the source code to make a marketplace on our own websites, or be able to use an API from the pointshop.pro website?
I've been working on this a little recently. I've got most of the GMod Tower accessories added too, just need to take images.
I'm planning on testing PSP out on gamemodes shortly and then I'll be ready for people to start running it on their own servers.
This project does have huge potential so I do want to get it out in the wild. If that never comes to fruition then I'll release the source of the site and addon and items.
Do you have implementation docs for installing this into personal gamemodes?
I've always wanted a pizza face! Great work!
