Myth| How many barrels does the server need to crash? I have crappy voice but can I build stuff. My steam is richierick240, I know it's stupid. Edit:
Exactly, so let's get some Myths Submitted, and let's get some crew people. Please note peeps: I will not add or message you, If you want on the crew, you will have to ask ME or message ME. If you want the fun and fame of this show, you will have to work for it yourself. Don't be afraid to ask, as long as you can prove you're good for what positions you want, you'll get the position.
what is your steam, I will getting X-fire next week
Good idea to the max!
Myth| How many barrels does the server need to crash?
You won't be able to work it out. On a decent dedicated server, the clients will crash long before the server.
Myth: Players hitbox is actually a simple cube which is faced same direction as player Edit: Wooo
Myth: Players hitbox is actually a simple cube which is faced same direction as player Edit: Wooo
Myth busted straight away, I was shooting between a guys legs on a server last night. On another note, if you need an actor, my Steam friends is Livewire123
Can a vw bug beat a antillion guard i can create good plans to test myths so I'm available
Best idea ever. Myth: You can make a breakable bridge that can actually float without using Physgun, and then break it up without undo-ing the tools you used.
Myth: Lua viruses don't work in gmod10.
They should work only if you put them in the lua folder yourself.
This thread is for videos and movies, unless you have a movie or video to publish, use general chat..Or something else.
This thread is about submissions for this series, what are you talking about
maybe it's meaning forum
I remember one of these in 05' or something. It was cool but it died.
Episode 34: Bulletproof Water How deep must you dive to survive a gunshot? Adam and Jamie are on the case, unleashing their arsenal of pistols, shotguns and supersonic rifles to find the answer. Then the guys join forces with the MythBuilders in some playground pandemonium as they test a myth straight from the schoolyard. If you push hard enough, can you get a swing to go all the way around the swing-set bar? Everyone's tried this at some point in their lives, but this time there's a difference: On MythBusters, failure is not an option; if at first you don't succeed, then add some high explosives!
This thread is for videos and movies, unless you have a movie or video to publish, use general chat..Or something else.
If you paid attention to the first original post without skimming through and speed reading, you would know this was a video. Pay attention before you tell people what to do. --- As for that Bullet myth, it's already been busted - I've shot people at the bottom of the lake from the dock in rp_lakeside_v4. Totally busted.

By the way, sorry if you were just randomly quoting Mythbusters, I'm just telling you that it's not the same in gmod.
Episode One (More like a demonstration) is being uploaded to youtube right now. Hang tight, it's on the way.
Yay i can't wait!
Episode One (More like a demonstration) is being uploaded to youtube right now.
I'll be damned. I don't know whether to cringe, or be glad that one of these recruitment threads actually ammounted to something. I don't mean any great disrespect there, just that usually these threads go to no end. You proved me wrong. I apologize.
This is a good idea :D I remember a person did this mabey a year ago, but failed miserably at it. :( MYTH: There's a myth that there is a top speed that any entity can travel in the source engine. Try and find if there actually is a limit, and what the limit is if it is there. (Dunno how you'll measure it though)
Myth: Recruitment threads like these usually amount to something! this one should be easy as hell to disprove.
We need a TURBOZING rating. :D
I like that entity speed myth, HellBring. I'll pass it by Kilala and Recon77. Anyone else want to see this myth tested?
I want to see that myth! Also Rory, can you please add the falling speed, test if it's same for all objects, or not, and how it depends on mass.

By the way, sorry if you were just randomly quoting Mythbusters, I'm just telling you that it's not the same in gmod.
Wrong, I shot in water on gm_construct and the bullets didn't hit the target. I've tried shooting with the pistol, as it should work, but it didn't. I've even tried sniping, but you can't hit somebody or something under water, at least not if you shoot from a specific angle. I wasn't shooting straight down, though. This might be a bug, this might be a feature. Either way, I've tested it. Very hard to actually hit something under water, at least if it gets deep enough and you stand in the right angle.
This is a good idea :D I remember a person did this mabey a year ago, but failed miserably at it. :( MYTH: There's a myth that there is a top speed that any entity can travel in the source engine. Try and find if there actually is a limit, and what the limit is if it is there. (Dunno how you'll measure it though) We need a TURBOZING rating. :D
That's a good myth. Hunts mod (I think) has a stool that can measure the speed of an object, could be useful if you manage to send the entity in a straight land and stand behind it. Though, making the entity travel that fast without encountering some other problem might be dificult. If you attach a truster to it and let it fly, it will most likely be invisible and collide with the map itself, as I've tried lots of such things. If you attach it to a wheel, it will most likely stretch and separate from the wheel even though it's welded. Find a way it will not sustain too much friction or unstability, and you have a myth. Myth: Is it possible to make the player view angle perceed it's current state? Explanation: In Half-Life 2 and most likely all source games, you cannot aim at a degree higher than straight up or lower than straight down, in other words, you cannot look through your own knees. If you try bending backwards your aim will stop when it faces straight up. I have been one of those to test that myth before, and it worked, but not without the mod. In Gmod9, there were a mod to attach players to other objects, e.g welding yourself to a car. Normally, your camera view wouldn't change, even if your playermodel was facing upside down... But sometimes, we encountered a bug, and our character wasn't attached to the vehicle... But our camera/screen view was turned sideways! Is this possible to surpass without using LUA technology? -- Myth: Is it possible to walk on walls and ceiling in Gmod? This has been done in Dystopia, when the players enter a cyberspace region and suddenly are able to walk on walls - the camera angle changes, like if the whole world were turned upside down, so they player will walk on the walls having a view like if it was regular ground. Is this possible to replicate in Gmod 10? Here is the link to the mod: www.dystopia-game.com -- As for the crew, I'm interested in join the team, Rory. I've watched mythbusters quite some time and discovered lots of factors they always miss. That was a bore, but it looks like that might be useful here. If you let me in your team, you can always PM me or answer directly. I already have factors for the first video that might be useful taken into consideration. Good luck though.
Ohh I already Have a myth! :) Myth #1: Can a plane fly without using thrusters, hoverballs,or vehicles? Edit: Can I be an actor?
Manhacks and scanners. Edit:
I want to see that myth! Also Rory, can you please add the falling speed, test if it's same for all objects, or not, and how it depends on mass.
It's a combo of mass and surface area.
Myth Are really players named Mingebag idiots?
The maximum speed myth is absolutely true. I've achieved this with thrusters, and with lua. Didn't bother to measure it though, but you do error if you try to exceed it. It's pretty interesting too, when you hit that speed in any direction, you stop moving in any other direction. And yes, you can fly without hoverballs, make a balanced plane out of thrusters, use balloons, npcs, whatever. If you need a lua coder I'll be glad to help :)
You guys should get an intro video that you play at the beginning of each episode. Also I would love to help you guys out. Steam = blackops777999
In one of the very first episodes, they did the man getting hit by a barrel. It seems like that may be fun with the physics at hand. [:excited:]
I'm a huge fan of mythbusters... I got some great myths to test for you guys. The first one that popped in my head is one that was test on the show, but I thought they did it completely wrong. Myth: Can jumping right before a falling elevator hits the ground save your life? Maybe try doing it with real players and then use a speedometer and a ragdoll with trusters to test it. As I said mythbusters did it completely wrong. And if the myth is still busted, see how much upward force is required to save your life.

Here is a myth, do players really crash because Source can't handle the amount of barrels exploding, or is it really because their SYSTEM can't handle it? Best test would to get like 5 or so guys, start adding barrels into a pile, and have them test it at 10-barrel intervals. Average out the amount of barrels they had when they crashed, then find someone with a top-of-the-line system, and have him load up the average amount of barrels. And I too like the speed myth, I always try to create super-fast missiles but it appears there is a limit to how fast they go. Try using different settings, like air resistance, gravity, etc. Also, I'd like to be on the build team. I think you know my resume'. If interested, xfire is "lolspacepirate" Edit: nvm saw it's closed
