I mean I still check the forums twice a day, and I have built a few little things I cbf posting.
I don't know bout the rest of you but I just couldn't finish anything I started, i've got (IMO) a fucking epic warthog suspension and control frame I built that I really really really want to finish but I can't even start the model.
Also playing rp didn't help but I quit that after this fuckwit of a mod abused me twice.

I just started something today. Been working on it on and off for the whole day and I can't make any progress. I just sit there and stare at it and I have to keep myself from taking out the remover tool and jus badghdaghadhgjadgkadg over the whole thing... Even though I want to finish it.
I get a good idea and go into the game and try and recreate it, but I just can't bring myself to finish it anymore. It always ends up where I just go and shoot NPCs with a SWEP, and then I bore myself to death after five minutes. Or Garry's Mod decides to crash.
I'm on hiatus from GMod until OS X starts working again so I can nab my dupes and E2s and move them to my new computer. Also wait for Christmas when there will undoubtedly be a mass sale on Steam and then everyone will buy these for everyone else.

No. None of that went on in that thread.
Umm. I used to post but I was never too great at the mechanisms side of thing. I've got the maths and physics and subsequent wiring down, but meh, things never quite turned out as planned and I ended up frustrated and would quit the game in a huff. The only people with the sheer bloody-mindedness to finish things and be proud got sick of people failing to kiss the ass of their samey contraptions along one or two themes. But who am I to talk if I don't post.
I don't know why. I guess I miss the old days.
Some people left. I myself came and went. Here's a tribute I wrote to Maximiliash, though he'll never read it:

I first met him back in 2007, where things were kept incredibly old school. Thrusters were dominating anything that moved, even mechs, as it became a state of the art kind of thing for those interested and very good at building mechs.
Yes, Max was contemporary with people like Mental who no longer play Gmod. But if you ask me he was way ahead of them - all of us.
Max was a true, positive spirit. He kept my mood up as we all played and socialized in-game, he was just a crucial person as anyone else in our little gang; Kyle, Simple, Karbine, Gibbo, and more. He was spontaneous, radical and creative at a mind-blowing level. I looked up to him, and I'm sure many other people did. Back then I wasn't considered top notch, no, back then I was still climbing the ladder of fame and knowledge. Last time I spoke to Max, he said he was going to his newfound girlfriend somewhere in England. As I understood it, she lived far away in another town which meant a longer period seeing him offline. So he went. As did the days.
Max never came back. As far as I know, and as accurately as I'd like to analyze the whole situation, bearing in mind what he did and who he hung out with, he could as well have died a long time ago. He wasn't really the legal and perfectly law-abiding kind of guy, yet he showed no hint of it what so ever. I found out by becoming his friend and earning his trust. He was a special person, and the same age as I.
Sometimes, I think of him. Sometimes I stare at the friends list, waiting for his name to pop up and my heart would start to race. But he probably never will.

You speak as if building is a talent that you are born with. Well, it's not. Don't worry about posting stuff that you gave your best effort to, even if it is shit. You're a regular here and we aren't going to run you out. Building is something you develop over time like writing and poetry.
My advice is to stick to large inspiring projects and start them when you have lots of spare time like during long school breaks.

I've 1900+ hours in this game if you count offline time, less than 50 of them in any gamemode besides SpaceBuild and Sandbox. Where does this skill magically develop?

I can't do a large project. Period. I have no less than a dozen 'large' projects I have started and abandoned over my time in garrysmod. I always loose motivation about a third of the way or less in. That's why I like to make simple things, like spacebuild generi-ships or woodwars things.
There are still real builders in gmod, expression 2 and other crap has just taken over the popular servers. (i don't hate e2, i just find it weird to see a server full of people, all of them just writing e2).

This is true, and very sad. I don't like how people flame someone's things to pieces, how else will the community widen? We'll die here starved out, inbred and as hill billies.
And I know I've been like that myself once, but I really don't like that kind of mentality. I've learned how to be constructive about criticism, and I think more people should give it a go as well (those who actually flame).
