Dude the Thundercloud 1 dates back before May 2005 or so, I remember seeing the threads before joining the forums and being in awe.
Good memories trying to get that save game loaded on Gmod 9.0.4, though I believe the actual Thundercloud save file was from 8.3 or so

Honestly if there's anything this forum needs it's more banning. Shits gotten way lax over the years.
For those who cant remember me i was a relatively small player in the W-W genre and built a roadster.
I think the main reason of not posting is the fact that i am lacking motivation at the moment. I started A levels 3 years ago and doing my retakes (why its 3 years). They really are mentally destroying and i find that whenever i turn on G-mod i start with good intentions and when it doesn't look anything like what i wanted, i destroy it or quit without saving. It's also what comes from being a perfectionist.
I looked back on my time where i would post a contraption once a month and it was a good time. I think i might (once i have a new graphics card, my one is up shits creek at the moment) Build one, for old times sake and see if i can get back into it, to feel that giddy rush as i did when i was younger of a world at my finger tips, where i was the creator. I hope i can.
Also, i have lost all my history in this place, it has been a long time. The only one i can find is my oscilloscope radar.

I find this post is somewhat half truths.
-E2 and Holograms serve their purpose, Holograms were only really used for detail anyway, and I'll go into the complexities of E2 and such on Point 3.
-This is a complete truth, I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes patching is always a process of "1 step forward, 3 back".
I remember back before the episode 2 engine we could battle 3-4 tanks, each not parented in the slightest and with 60ish Physical props each, try doing that today.
-Now in my mind gmod construction has 3 "branches" of skills for contraptions.
Prettiness - Self explanatory, makes your contraption look like whatever it's supposed to, looks good or bad depending on whatever your skills are.
Limits for prettiness are really Snapshot errors, or prop limits in general.
Mechanics - As much as you say we don't use mechanics, I call foul. Pretty much every contraption relies on good mechanics even if it boils down to the basics.
Mechanical limits are not so clear cut, there is the obvious physical lag side due to physical props but then there is dupe rape when using the adv duplicator (Doesn't apply to some new fancy duplicators).
Dupe rape must be the bane of all contraption builders, though there are simple ways to fix it, build from a frozen copy, face gmod "north", etc.
Simulated Mechanics (what I like to call it at least) - This is basically everything you use E2 and wire for, making stuff move the way you want it too.
It's great, it allows you to make tanks aim, helicopters hover, stuff vroom, etc. Depending on personal knowledge or how nice your community is you'll either be great at this or fall flat on your face.
Limits for this are generally very generous.
When combining all of these into one contraption the ratio of these 3 things is up to the "contraptioneer".
If it's good in at least one of these respects It will probably get some praise, (Maybe not for E2 due to "omg e2 ruined gmod hurr durr")
-As for the last point, It's semi true.
I can see why you specifically might think this, mostly because you used to come into the section with this "holier than thou" attitude and even at one point proclaimed that "if I can't make it no one can".
This is also the reason mamba pretty much trashes everything you say, (Oh mamba).
Though there are a few people who will damn contraptions for stupid reasons, the majority only really damn stupid things.
I personally strive to only post constructive criticism, at least most of the time.
This post turned out to be longer than I planned, 8/10 chance It's going to look like a mess.

Garry doesn't break things, lua devs are just fucking idiots that can't be bothered to read what Garry posts.
My opinion is that Garry's mod is pretty much dead now. The old-timer's community has moved on and the new people are more interested in the cloud stuff.
I joined right in the middle, so I'm not old enough to fit in with the elite but old enough to have nostalgia for building things.
