Yeah the soldiers a Yank, Probably a paratrooper judging by his uniform, so yeah it's probably some french museum or something... if so it was probably taken in 1944 or 1945

Looking at the figures faces, I'd say it's some sort of Japanese religious place.
The statues look like samurai armour and the faces look Asian.

No, he's holding a Garand. You can just about see the shape of the charging handle on the side and the barrel is too long for it to be a springfield.
Plus springfields don't have the gas tube beneath the barrel.
I'm not even gonna try to pretend i'm an expert on ww2 uniforms, but i'd hazard a guess that it's in europe somewhere, not africa or the pacific since the clothes he's wearing look pretty thick and heavy, so not the sort of thing soldiers in the pacific or africa would wear.

I highly doubt that was taken somewhere in the pacific theatre, so yeah, P sure it was taken in some museum in europe somewhere..

Yeah, I thought the gas tube might of just been some kinda of fat bayonet stud :v:... For whatever reason I thought I could see a bolt handle.
I highly doubt anyone would wear that much equipment in the pacific, since all the photos i've seen of soldiers over there seem to be of them wearing hardly any equipment aside from a belt or two and their helmet.
Plus, they were fighting the Japanese over there and the iron cross has nothing to do with them.

If it were taken in the pacific (what is highly unlikely) it could of possibly been a gift of some sorts from the germans.
also yeah pretty sure it's somewhere in the european theatre because the jacket he's wearing resembles the M-43 Jacket what like the U.S Army used, what I don't think was used in the pacific war.
I'm sure the japanese loved their gift from the fuhrer, they loved their metal cube covered in iron crosses so much that they made it the centerpiece of their sacred temple.
Then those pesky americans had to come along and ruin everything.

The architecture doesn't look Egyptian to me at all but I can't really tell what it might be from either.
The large amount of crates makes me think that this is just some museum and they decided to use thi s particular room for storage to protect w/e was in the cratess(probably smaller artifacts)

Yeah and there's also a bike in the background. So yep not egypt, japanese or pacific island-ish, It's some museum.
To be fair, they used bikes in a lot of places in WW2. They could've just been brought in by someone trying to take shelter.
It seems like a place that'd be fairly well known if it has statues like that, maybe it's somewhere that got destroyed later in the war?
