The muzzle flash casts a different, brighter light on Francis? What about on the zombies? Surely the light should have casted on them as well. What about the room as well? The walls? Seems like it should have lit up to a certain extent considering the size of that flash. I'm surprised everyone missed this or didn't point this out.

Also, the perspective kind of tricks you, as Francis is actually atleast 7 meters away from the infected.

I'm not the best light editor, If I had posed it I would have tried to do a majority of the lighting in-game, but Ilwrath did a good enough job (especially on francis), I just didn't accentuate it much.
