HISTORY FIGht!
Yeah! what about the beaches we Brits landed on! Although we got tanks and air support! And it took the amercans 2 days to clear there beaches where as it took us 2 hours! But still all games and war films are about the amercans when our solidiers were the poor bloody blighters who got shot down and you swoop in at the last minute! When actualy it was the rusians who saved us!
Because it's not very interesting, and frankly most of the media is controlled by Americans. The Russians have nothing to do with d-day, and they were in an unholy alliance if you remember right. He (Stalin) killed 20 million people and was at first an ally of Germany. Don't give crap about the eastern front, because they did unto the Germans what the Germans did unto them, bringing them down to their level and worse. Besides that they did nothing except a little in the end to assist us against the Japanese, an enemy every bit as dangerous as Germany. I know this is very off topic but I can't stand the guys who go "HUUURRRR RUSSIANS DID EVRYTHIN"

I'm not saying that the russians did everything, but that they did a lot.
The russians captured Berlin and was the side with the most losses after WW2. I'm not saying that the russians did everything, but that they did a lot.
That and T-34 >>>> Shermans.
That and T-34 >>>> Shermans.
Those were both shitty tanks, you're not comparing much.
Yeah, I'm not saying Omaha did ALL the work and I'm just merely stating the facts when, realistically, they were all tough objectives but if you were to have a statistical comparison of the two I still stand by what I said previously. The whole point of the Normandy Campaign was a joint operation for the Allies and all that. Team work, we're in this together and all that crap. I know Britain got to taste the experimental V1/V2 rockets firsthand though. Of course, the Germans should know anything if not everything about being "bombed every bloody night". Pounded by two fronts coming together is not cool. Russia, by the way, was probably most affected by WWII though. No denying it. World relations with one another (Specifically US/Russia relations) today can almost be directly related to the outcome of both World Wars. But I'm just saying...
I never said that we had it worse than the russians because they had been pounded in places like stalingrad but I am simply pointing out that we brits don't get as much credit! We lived in a warzone! And we would have been invaded if Hitler hadn't made the mistake of not pushing on after the evacuations of Dunkirk. Instead he had the flaw of just sending wave after wave of the luftwaffe (Nazi germany's air force) Into brittain only to be smashed down hard by are magnificent RAF. For you see we were the rulers of the sky and in almost all of the wars we have ever fought in the sea.
I raise my orange juice to you my good British friend. British FTW.
Why thank you my good man! I raise my orange juice to you to!
I don't think the 101st/82nd are classified as "special forces".
Cool comic. Keep practicing and youll be awesome in no time.

Cities. Had he taken out the airfields (which is almost a no-brainer against Britain in WW2) it would have been possibly the most demoralizing and crushing defeat for Britain and WW2 would be a lot different. Operation Sea Lion was Hitler's continuous push in annihilating his enemies in the "West" (compared to the "East" or Russian front). I don't know exact details for the whole of Operation Sea Lion but the "Battle of Britain", the Luftwaffe's attempt to gain air superiority was clearly noted for a last minute change from "blowing the crap outta of the one thing standing in our way" to "blowing the crap outta the useless cities allowing the one thing standing in our way (RAF) to rebuild, regroup and counter attack." Here, wikipedia knows more about it than I do http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Sealion#Background So, now what? I thought I was being unbiased by actually stating facts but man, I'm not sure what you want me to say next. Now, what the fuck does this ALL have to do with D-Day exactly? Let alone this comic? Amazing how one thing leads to another in this place.

Besides even if the Luftwaffe had come straight for the RAF we would have kicked there asses anyway. Way had the spitfire. And it was around that period of the war (1940) that we had developed the spitfire mark 5! One of the greatest WW2 planes ever built but improved and with 20mm cannons! As for the Navy well we still had planes on our aircraft carriers so if the air feilds were destroyed we could have launched by sea and besides we have a very sophisticated Navy and a damn fine tactics! And as to how we got into this...well...¬_¬...... I respect you a great deal for all your knowledge. I tip my hat to you sir but now I must say Your move!
This thread makes me read all the posts in a stereotypical British accents. Blimey!

Really, it's all a matter of opinion. I could argue statistical of the amount of aircraft on both sides but that doesn't really mean much in terms of fighter planes since it's really down to the pilot rather than the number of pilots. I know for a fact that the BoB was fought with a diverse group of skilled, allied pilots and although the Luftwaffe has some of their own heroes, not sure how many really shined in the BoB (losers don't write the history books, do they ;)? ).

We were both right (on some kind of level....*cough*). I respect your knoledge greatly so well done!:)
not many people realise that the other beaches were assaulted because they went a bit better than omaha. omaha was a massacre compared to juno, gold, sword.
bump much?
Ummm... Those links took me nowhere. Also, Would pointe du hoc be a good setting for a D-Day comic NOT featuring omaha? They like scaled a rock wall up to the german positions while the germans were shooting at them from the top.
You sure? Cus I could have sworn that I remember watching a show where they were talking about D-Day and tanks. The British made a few prototype tanks to help with the landing (Some so they could be drooped further out, destroy barbed-wire etc..) and that the Americans refused to use any of them. I could be wrong, it was years ago.
Winston Churchill's Cousin(I think) developed many new tanks for D-Day, often called Hobart's Funnies. I think they included the DD tank and some others: Flail/Crab Tank - had a Big revolving barrel attached to its front with chains on, when the barrel revolved the chains whipped the sand blowing up mines. Flying Dustbins- Standard Churchill tanks with mortar guns in the place of the main cannon for penertrating the Concrete fortifications on the beaches. Fireflies- Satndard Churchills (I think) with a much larger Cannon, designed for piercing the Tiger's thick plating There where many other tanks with bridges and other thinks for crossing barbed wire, Anti-tank ditches and small rivers. Other tanks also had flamethrowers on them. Omaha might have not been such a blood bath with some of these Funnies. And saying the British empire had the easiest beaches is wrong, Utah was the 'easiest'. [editline]02:53PM[/editline]
You run a compeling argumant. This was because they were easier and cheaper to make and could often fly home ridled with bullets because of the canvas outer layer they had.
