the pods drop from a set of tubes/bays that are located on board a bigger ship, then they are released after passengers enter and they are set to drop. Then, the pods fall a ways, deploy a drag chute to slow down a LITTLE BIT (very important that they sill fall quickly) and smash into the ground. Finally the hatch blows off, the passenger gets out, and proceeds to kill all kinds of covenant baddies, heres a few videos on what it looks like....

just to let you all know, i'm back. the reasons why odst v2 hasn't been release:
#1: Sasstrilization server fucked up my gmod and all my memory was deleted.
#2: I gave up after that.
I will be working on the ODST v2 Pod again. It's coming soon guys, so hang tight.
To reply to all your questions about the errors, it is most likely your wiremod. It could be out of date, and it's time some of you learned about SVN. You may also not know how to read, and don't have wiremod or phx in general. You might have not downloaded the pod at all and are telling me it comes out as 'invisible'. And as a reply to those posting above, an ODST game mode would be awesome, but it would require a lot of modeling and lua coding. Also, V2 will have everything that the pod had in Halo 3 ODST: Blast off hatch, screens, good shape, red light, and all of that. I would like to make this an entity, or a vehicle, but I have yet to learn how to make it an official vehicle. Until then, it's a shitty adv dupe. If you want to help me on my server, look for the server called 'Warzone'. Enter the password 'odst' and you can join in. I'll be on this thread more frequently now since this pods gotta be done.

Alright, I'm serious now, I'm starting production on the pod. I was occupied making awesome PHX spaceships lol, but now looking back and shit pod i did before i want to continue. I'm going to release 2 versions : Normal Wired and Advanced Wired. The advanced will contain the more up to date wire electronics while the normal wired will contain the lesser. I'm also thinking that we have the ability to make the pod have an open close function AND a blast off option. It's still in testing but yeah, we're still researching all that good stuff. I'll probably include a few tools in this pack that will allow the pod to still function if you haven't already gotten the tool already (as I noticed in V1). So that's the update so far.

Okay, I've got most of the door done. Looks way more slick than the last V2, less blocky, and a better material. Pictures soon!

Thanks, I'm at my Dad's house so there are no photos until Sunday. I'll edit the door a bit more with RT Screens and then photo it. *Sigh*, I'm going for the highest detail possible on this pod and using a really nice reference pic, and this pod aint gonna be no piece of cake to make. Getting it to be less blocky with less lag will be the main challenge, along with getting all the details.

No it doesn't. You're probably doing it wrong.
Get the multi parenting stool if you haven't already.
Get latest wire or something to make sure your adv duplicator doesn't suck.
Put a wirechip on your contraption.
Parent everything to that.
Dupe.
Paste it.
Unfreeze what you pasted and try it out.
Should be no problems at all.

It's not that it gets screwed up, the amount of props that go into this causes lag when I use parenting. Trust me, I did testing: Same exact pods with different welding / no colliding methods. Parented one lagged, non parented one didn't. Simple. Parenting also has a problem with no colliding with the world as I recall using it last time.

Okay, that's the door so far (I will include the RT screens in the pack).
And basically you can weld different RT screens in your pods and bind them to a key and shuffle thru your different squad mates cameras. You'll have to make your own RT Screens as they don't work in Adv Duplicator. So to whoever complained about the material before, here you go.
Also, I'm adding another window at the top of the door. It's hard to get all these windows and keep the props low, the actual pod is supposed to have 1 more above. So yeah that's it for the door basically.
