Well I'm not sure about that. My GMod is severly broken so I can't do much testing in it. I'll look into the material file then.

you could make each portrait an individual image, but it'd probably lag a bit and you'd have to be pretty good with formatting to make it look presentable. I think it's doable.
I could update my portrait to my new skin.
