Gold originally years ago was donations, then it turned into ultra elitist when that was stopped and only a few people on the forum had it. Later Garry was fucked off with the gold elitism so he made everyone older than 2 years with 2k post a goldie and those were the requirements for a while. Then Garry stopped that when he realized he could make more money and sell it again.
If you look at the shop you can buy gold, but its heavily looked down upon.
