The issues with the M16A1 were mostly related to ammo and lack of cleaning supplies and education for the troops using them. It was an inherently very accurate, very controllable rifle, was very light and easy to manoeuvre, and once those issues were sorted it was an excellent combat weapon. There is absolutely [I]nothing[/I] wrong with the M16A1, in fact I'd sooner have an A1 than any of the variants since because burst fire is fucking retarded and thanks to the AR system's modularity, you can easily roll an A1 lower with a flat-top upper and railed handguard for (useful) accessories if you want.
