Six hours late, but I never really got why this kind of imagery was so heartwarming. I mean, really think about the concept of a man living alone in a cold, old-fashioned house, his days spent staring into his fire, his faithful dog/weird furry pikachu thing being the only creature he cares to associate with anymore.
It's freakin creepy and, in a way, depressing. It seems like how you'd end a sad Clint Eastwood film or something.
