I, um, see.
My motto is "if you're going to even have a storyline try to focus on it" but the storyline apparently was not what he was aiming for. I'm not changing my rating, because personally, I enjoy movies that focus on the story, and I'm sure others do too.
Max should make a movie that DOES focus on the storyline, I would love to see it.
he has a series that is heavily story orientated
Epic, but the storyline was not too prominent. This was more of a "My use of effects and post-processing beats yours" kind of movie. It's all too obvious because you're flying the camera everywhere for the first half of the movie, then it gets into the story again, which was confusing and not fully explained. I said "Ok, what the hell is going on?" often. The first part was just him walking through a bunch of worlds, then he meets a guy, then all of a sudden he's running from monsters or whatever those were. You left us too much to infer, and you could have done a MUCH better job explaining what was happening in the story.
However I must say, your use of effects and cinematics was very admirable. The color correction was flawless, and the ending was phenomenal. The voice acting was also a plus. The ingame effects combined with post processing was amazing. The opening and ending sequences seemed professional.
Bottom line: This movie had great effects and angling, but it didn't seem to focus on the storyline, and I think that is what you intended it to be. Try to focus on the story a little more, and have more hints about what's going on!
7/10.
Oh, also, subscribed, because you're capable of great movies.
I agree with you; I'm putting all the technical stuff I learned into a HL2-related, story-oriented movie, at the moment.

I agree, effects were great, story wasn't. There was a lot of camera moving and my roomate said the camera tracking made him feel sick. If this were a real movie it would obviously be highly unsuccessful due to the lack of story and a lot of it was a little bit dry aside from some of the awesome visuals. For a GMOD movie, it's one of the favorites here on FP. As I seen the beginning of this came pretty close to looking like a real movie (aside from the GMOD graphics) Any chance we'll see some real fighting or action in your future movies, Max? I know the running around camera swaying, dialogue is your thing. I'm interested in seeing how you handle some intense shit, though. I want to see car crashes, people doing flips, helicopters being taking down by cars, I want to see friggin Die Hard in Gmod.
I'm not going to do a B action movie, but what's coming next shall be much more interesting and accessible than Ghosts is.

Oh god damn it automerge failed
there is a french machinma community?
Die Hard isn't a B action movie, it's about as good as Terminator 2 and Rambo but I see what you mean. What is going to make this one better than GHOSTS, though? Did you have anything new in mind for it that you would like to share?
wait he insulted die hard.. MAXIME!

what's going to make it better is that there won't be cameras flying around randomly for 50 seconds straight
I'm so happy for this.
Part one- Amazing. Great introduction, great angles, effects, voice acting, everything. I saw that guy 4 times i think. Very eerie. Also, that scene you thought you referenced something to, it reminds me of the begining scene with gman in half life 2 :D
Part two- I like your idea of using the camera to show things. It worked really well. In the completely unlighted map, i dont' like how there are really long pauses in between the protagonist and the stalker guy. it seems... idk like horrible stage actors forgetting their lines. But that's my opinion.
The wanderer's voice reverb effect was too much at some times. It was hard to understand. Idk maybe I'm just retarded.
Part three- Again, amazing, nothing to complain about. It was amazing.
Over all, this was an amazing machinama :D
8/10

That's always a +. I mean as far as action goes, what did you have in mind for effects and how you plan to execute these parts. In my opinion you should make the action aspects like Gamer. Whenever I'm thinking about action parts for a movie I always look back to the "Gamer" preview, it displays a great amount of camera angles, effects, and ideas all in that short preview.
Hey Kurit, if you haven't seen it, here's a good example of what I'm talking about:

The way you had him fall looked pretty good. I don't get it, though.
