You could cake them in mud and it wouldn't bother me, the real issue is that your "dirt" is crazy low resolution. I don't know if you did this ingame or with PS but if it's PS look for a better, sharper dirt resource and it'll help tremendously.

This one is actually relatively quite good, but the models ruin it somewhat. They're just so low-res that it makes any attempts at being serious seem like satire.

They don't really fit in with the Imperial Guard aesthetic, they're too sleek. They also make the rest of the model look kind of disproportionate.
