mat_picmip -10 [b]might[/b], solve that problem, it does something with the compression level of textures, but I don't know what that has an effect on, -1 is default.

-1 is the top mip anyway. It's like jpeg quality 100 and 1000 - no difference.
Actually there is a difference on some stuff, just not everything.
