I did these before I went to bed last night, Barney's pose looks weird to me imo.

first and second ones are reasonably good, Nick's faceposing is really weird in the third, and yeah Barney's posing is pretty weird (and again, so's his faceposing)

Thanks for the feedback, if Nick's picture wasn't too dark and slightly a wider angle you'd see the cigarette in his mouth. Barney is just weird. Thanks!

Actually it's my ~custom legion the 202nd Tank Grenadiers, and that is a soldier of the 67th Kasrkin Regiment.

The first one is very good.

Do you use photoshop, or all effects (especially smoke) are in-game?
I'm almost certain he edited the picture, in-game smoke and blood doesn't look that delicious.
Still really new to posing.
Trying to get used to SuperDOF. I know it's a bit fucked up.
Tips?

Is that a shoulder? A little too much zoom, zoom out and bring in the camera a bit so it'll be a bit more clear. Lighting is a little dim, but posing looks good.

Updated the heavy Gundlar troopers textures and the weapons.
Gonna do the normal troopers soon, aswell as doing some other things related to this.

I'm also a perfectionist. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to make that picture...

That's a good thing. You'll really be making progress once you kick it up to 8-20 hours a pose though hahaha.
8-20 hours :suicide:
if it takes you 8-20 hours to pose something then something is wrong
editing on the other hand isn't quite so forgiving
Do you use photoshop
Hells yea

That kinda depends of the scale though. But I can't see how you can use three hours on a couple of blokes.

Three hours including the Photoshopping (light on Medic + Heavy). As I said, i'm new to this. Meaning this was my first serious Gmod pose that i've done in over 2 years.
Also, I was trying out some ragdoll posing tools so it's more like posing something in a 3D animating program.
Argh, I do not know how to use Photoshop. So far what I make looks poor to me.

I really think I messed up somewhere.
Photoshop not needed. Your survivors/scavengers/urban warriors look pretty cool.

Reminds me of Fallen Earth.
Hey guys I’m new to this so any tips are welcomed. So to start, a Volus crackdown.:v:

Oh. Thanks. I guess I'll just use Photoshop to clean up the pics a little, because the raw screenshot looks very bland.
Reminds me of Fallen Earth.
That's what I was aiming for, a desolate, apocalyptic feel. I still don't think I did a very good job at it, but I tried anyway. Spent a good hour trying to work out the makeshift sword on the first picture. Next step: Making an armory.
Am I rambling?
Oh when I said 8-20 hours I mean about 1-4 to pose depending on complexity (some times I spend an hour just farting around looking for locations) a half hour to an hour to take the screenshots if I have to do any fancy lighting or effects in-game, an then 1-15+ hours for editing. Sometimes my screenshots take two hours or less, but all of the ones I'm really proud of are the ones where I spend hours on end for two days straight editing and tweaking them. A lot of it's painting and compositing different effects, but I can spend 4 or 5 hours just playing around with something and scrapping it because I don't like it or it won't work. If I redid them and knew what I was doing it'd be more like 5 or 6 max but I love experimenting. I probably sound a few degrees of insane now that I think about it haha.

you've got the right idea with posing (or at least it's functional at this point), but your camera angles are wasting a lot of space. try to zoom in on the model so that it takes up a certain amount of the screen, like so:

once you learn to use the right amount of zoom you can move onto lighting, and only at that point should you be worrying about editing

This isn't really much a great picture more than it was just testing Nayr's Obi-Wan model, granted I was experimenting with Super DoF.
Use super dof when there's something other than darkness in the background.
