I can understand you wanting to keep things realistic haha. Think of it like food posing for advertisements. Of course it's not how it actually is but some people like to have everything 'perfect' and ideal and some people really wish it was more realistic even though less appealing hahaha.

I don't think shadows had anything to do with that, it's extremely contrasted and just the color balance is out of wack.

look at the guy holding the rifle. do people actually push guns into their armpits when they shoot them? try and recreate that pose in a mirror without breaking a bone and you'll see what I mean. what you want to do is rotate the body so both hands can reach a comfortable position on the gun.

face posing is also weird and the colour-correction is really oversaturated and strange, as well as the muzzle-flashes being far too transparent.
