Man all they did was change the color pallet for Killzone, jaggies fucking everywhere man. Doesn't hold up to current-gen PC games, has the same quality as current PS3 games.
Let me smoke what you have been smoking.
I don't even care about graphics. As long as the game is fun and works then it can look like shit for all I care. As long as it isn't eye hurting bad, that is.
Seriously what games have you been playing that look better than that.
It actually doesn't look all that impressive apart from the explosion. I mean sure it looks good and if that is actual light scattering on the helghast infiltrator visor than awesome (though I doubt it) but it looks pretty standard. The thing that was obviously better compared to the ps3 was the texture resolution of course. Also shadow resolution looked much better. Though nothing amazing compared to some stuff on the PC side. The edge still wasn't the right kind of crisp.
i don't understand why everyone complains about jaggies in shooter games. you don't notice it in the middle of the actual shooting anyway. fucking spoiled people
we're "spoiled" because we'd like a game to look nice and not have jaggies?
at the resolutions most TVs run at you won't notice jaggies.
Eh, I won't be getting KS4 anyway :v: e: slash why :c As said, Watch_Dogs is the only game I'm excited for, and I'll probably get a PS4 for it.
You guys wanna talk about jaggies? I've been playing a PS3 using AV cables at 360p all morning.
Seriously what games have you been playing that look better than that.
Crysis looks better bam
we're "spoiled" because we'd like a game to look nice and not have jaggies?
no you're spoiled because you're pointlessly whining about an insignificant little detail while the rest of the thing looks really good if not excellent and i bet you're going to counter-Dumb
It actually doesn't look all that impressive apart from the explosion.
you poor soul
On a 720p screen.
Hardly, I'm just stating that a game looking good isn't something we should ask for. Although it seems contrary, If given a choice, I'd rather have a good story then eyedazzlin' graphics. for example, i thought crysis' story wasn't very good because it seemed they concentrated on the graphics more. Although interesting, it seemed more of a graphics demo rather than game. (to me) (because it's an opinion)
i'll rather have both or if it's a very good story, i can stand mediocre graphics, but vice versa only if the gameplay mechanics are decent (Crysis 1)
I want a game that's got good soft drinks.

(the order changes if it's a game like mass effect that plays on it's story. Then it's story > gameplay > graphics) Like. If a game has shit graphics and a choppy story it can still be redeemed by having a fun as hell gameplay. Like EDF 2017. Everything about that game is bad, the animations are buggy. Voice acting sucks. Graphics are mediocre. The story is something from a 50's sci-fi thriller (which is okay because it's supposed to be that) And it's STILL one of my all time favorite games. It's just fun as hell to play. I've played it since it was released and haven't gotten bored of it yet.
True I loved Crackdown 2, the story seemed choppy, as you put it, since i can't think of another word :v:, but the game play was fun as fuck. And I need to get EDF 2017. Aren't there giant monsters in it too?
True I loved Crackdown 2, the story seemed choppy, as you put it, since i can't think of another word :v:, but the game play was fun as fuck.
Crackdown is another good example. Story was a bit iffy but still fun too play. Can't really say anything about graphics as it achieved what it was aiming for. Cartoon-ish like.

Cel-shading is definitely my favourite, but we can see that graphics, even cartoon style, don't make a difference. Walking Dead for example. Cartoon, because it needed to fit the comic style, yet it was an emotional ride.

But everything about borderlands was awesome so it doesn't fit into this conversation.
I loved the design of CD2 though, because it had that cyberpunky-industrial looking scene, and I orgasm for that kinda stuff. [t]http://www.cinemablend.com/images/gallery/s22837/crackdown_2_12659378138503.jpg[/t]

When you start it asks for you to choose a head. But it doesn't matter because the first time you level up you get a helmet you can't take off.
And borderlands. It had the same style of graphics. As much as I can appreciate it's trying to reach a broader audience, it still seemed they were forced in to me. I mean, there was a reference in it and I said to nub "Did they really just do that." I forgot what it was, but it was something so shockingly cringe-y and unbelievable that they put in there.
i don't understand why everyone complains about jaggies in shooter games. you don't notice it in the middle of the actual shooting anyway. fucking spoiled people
I tend to get headaches when using an application that has a lot of aliasing. I find it really uncomfortable.
I didn't notice many, and the ones I did I found kinda funny.
Yeah, nub reminded me they actually put an "arrow to the knee" joke in there.
DID SOMEONE SAY EDF 2017. FUCKING PLAY IT. RIGHT NOW.

Dukov and I are forever bound by our love for EDF [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] See! We did something EDF related over 3 years ago. http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=87772
but we can see that graphics, even cartoon style, don't make a difference.
i was going to say that's bullshit but then i remembered that, well, for example DOOM is still rather fun although it comes from the age of sprite sheet enemies and Crysis would be nothing without its shiny-ass next gen super augmented graphics, but that's because it was made with the graphics and tech in mind, with the gameplay built around it, and the story is an excuse to give the player a wild ride on a tropical island we do have to remember that graphics are an important part of immersion though. i don't feel like i'm an interstellar marine slaughtering demons from Hell on a space station in DOOM because it sure as hell doesn't really look like it; but i can feel like i'm the superpowered Predator-Tarzan-with-a-minigun lord of the jungle in Crysis because the visual side is so realistic(ish). the world and events suddenly feel much more... real because they look real, and the thing has a pretty good physics engine to go with it all too. graphics DO matter, but only when it comes to immersion, the thing that most mainstream (shooter) games nowadays seem to be after; we can't go back to shooting 2d sprites with 2d sprites and we can't stop here either because the public would start whining (and because TECHNOLOGY MARCHES ON) i'm waiting for the day we get an FPS where you actually hurt the enemy - the damage done by bullets and shrapnel in realistic detail with realistic consequences - and you see the pain you cause. could work as a nice statement against war and violence, kind of like Spec Ops: TL i can only hope that immersion doesn't steamroll gameplay on the List Of Things To Add In Your Game In Order Of Importance in the future, what with all these virtual reality things slowly surfacing and shit
I tend to get headaches when using an application that has a lot of aliasing. I find it really uncomfortable.
i don't (as long as the resolution isn't like 800x600), but that might be because every PC i've ever owned has been an... underachieving piece of shit, so i haven't really had the resources to use AA, except in some older games and some well-optimized stuff, like Source games
