Done it in Garry's Mod, I used bloom and colour mod to change the contrast.
I only use SFM for my Steam avatars.
So i've been messing around with some old models that people have made for me and i've been editing them a little to my liking.

Most of us use HL2 citizens as heads, whilst some use mesh editing/hacking to modify the bodies. However, a lot of the bodies are made from other models.
I don't think anyone has modeled a whole personal skin from scratch except one guy.
Sounds like something I'll try.
