No, common misconception, if you turned around you would see notthing because you are traveling faster than the light waves, and the light waves you catch up on are hitting the back of your head.
So, you become invisable
and so will everything else, so it will be impossible to measure anything travelling at the speed of light
If you go faster then 1,000 mph you will go through world, which is why I'll make a map to solve this :D
Teleports back to other side, like a particle acellerator but staright so you dont crash bang XD
Oh, and MacTekkie:
Sacasam works GREAT on the internet, KEEP IT UP.
This is proof that we've finally been abandoned by all mods, as this idiotic flamewar is just raging over UK/US bullshit. Metric is good for technical things, Imperial is good for estimation. Now please shut up about it.

Only if you look backwards, if you, look forwards and u r just exceeding the speedof light, you will see what is behind you in slow motion, overlayed with what is infront of you in 'fast' motion.
but there are also other complications about red and blue shifts etc.
oh and you will 'travel' through time. I use the term travel loosely because no travel is done, because time is relavtive so any change in percieved time is due to either you moving towards an observer at high speeds or moving away.
Time relativity is a very cool topic once you fully understand it
what if i break the light speed barrier and fly through your helmet, hunta?
errr huh.
Edit: oh i get it DURRR
then you get rainbow-mafied

Imperial is good for everything involving creating something out of metal. metric is good for common and everyday use (temperature, speed, dumb calculation @ school)
Imperial is good for everything involving creating something out of metal. metric is good for common and everyday use (temperature, speed, dumb calculation @ school)
No it isn't. If the unit needs to be called "an 1/8 of an inch" vs like 1 mm, metric wins
ahaah look at this- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ab/Metric_system_adoption_map.svg green uses metric.... so Burma agrees with you.......
WE DRIVE ON THE RIGHT Side of the road, beacause passengers get out on the right, safer for them. In fucking UK The driver gets out first, presumably the male, and lets the female get out on the dangerous side, possibly dying in an accident.
I know this is late, but it has to be said... the steering wheel is on the other side of the car...
box-four wheels-massless thruster

Don't even need the wheels
Don't even need the wheels
that would be a sliding vehicle :P lol
12 minutes in, The thruster axis car eventually hits 2500 mph for a split second

After a point wheel physics fail and you fall through the ground. Then in planes you have to consider the map is so small going mach 1 means a 1.4 second flight.
I'm aware of that fool, I'm not british am I? you still use it and you can't blame the british for that, seeing as you drive on the wrong side of the road 2
And ^^ w00t for proper units
and the speed of light is ~3x10^8 in a vacuum sorry, I left that out but seeing as this is getting scientifical I'll put it in
and no you will never get close 2 that in rl or in gmod because it is a suprisingly a massive stupidly large number
Lol your an ignorant little bitch aren't you?
You just can't handle that Americans were too cool for that british crap, so you have to be an ubertroll on a thread about a fast vehicle, while not contributing. Talk about useless! :smug:

Er...if you guys want you can use my server too test your contraptions if you dont want to bother with the Jinto's Physics

Because clearly you contribute 2 these forums, I've made my point and just because you are such a chauvinist you have 2 call me ignorant as a defence, go for it.
and because ignorance seems 2 be your argument, Metric is orignially french and the british only half use it, you ignorant chauvinistic nobody.
So yeah stepping away from the whole Imperial vs Metric thing, i would make a super fast thing but i can't seem to get a plane to fly in a straight line so i would need some help on that.
going back to the Imperial vs Metric thing they are both equally good, really lets just leave it at that, Agree with me Moderators! C=
My hoverdrive-strapped-to-a-jeep went so fast that you couldn't even see it move.
Yeah, the problem is the torque added by the physics engine, damned realism. One possible solution would be to hammer edit a contraption (a box for that matter), set the spawn flags for no torque and ignore mass, put whatever ridiculously high output that you want, use that jinto phys what not and let 'er rip. I would do this myself, but for the life of me i can't get the gmod10 vmfloader to work.
And time travel is only possible at 88 mph.
:V oh no we gotta put some junk to power our fluctuator
really i don't even get how hoverdrives work. first time i saw it i thought it made things float >.>
I made a chair, that sat at the edge of a full-grid map, welded it to a prop that was axis'd to the middle of the map, added thrusters and went so fast that it eventually overloaded the game and removed itself entirely.
Nice i might try that that and check the speed for you =]
Nice i might try that that and check the speed for you =]
Why is the thread still going? there are angular and standard velocity limit in the source engine, and who cares if you used a mod 2 change it?
This is standard gmod settings, the graph shows the rpm of the wheel reaching 600 rpm (massive torque)
then once it hits the max gmod angular velocity, it 'bumps' back down 2 ~540 rpm, then increases etc, it makes a nice sawtooth with lower torques, but in the end, GMOD VELOCITIES ARE LIMITED, teleporting is technically a velocity, but the hell does telling a game engine 2 move an entity 2 a different position in an imaginary space a 'fast vehicle' and if you up those limits with a mod, then in all likelyhood you can hit the new limit you set; That simply by making a thruster with a massive weight and massive force and just letting it fly off, can't get any more basic than that.

This thread fills me with rage, it is full of simpleton 15 year olds spewing out rubbish they either don't understand or don't fully grasp
Let it die

shaadaaaaap
were having fun
ps. like your video f12Bwth
I made a hover thingy specifically to reach the source maximum. I get 118 max
Welded a 1x1 metal board about 2 metres infront of the vehicle and then attacked forcers to the vehicle pionted at the board. Speedometer showed 16x10³²³
Then the server Crashed

thats what you get for attacking forcers =)
