Seriously wanting that original Bad Girl skin and ragdoll. I'm not TOO keen on the custom skins but they're alright.
I'm curious as to how you guys ripped the geometry for her, but if it's a custom model then all kudos to you.
Now if you could just do all the other models in NMH...

these bad girl ragdolls surely are awesome. Oh yes, I have a little request MrWhitefolks, did you edit the picture 'Awesome wallpaper featuring first reskin'? if yes, could you please give me the name of the font you used for the text?

Good lord.
Shinobu, my dear man. Shinobu.
I swear to god this is the best addition to Gmod since the Silent Hill pack.
Awesome.

Is it just me or are his fingers majorly long?
Still an awesome port.

Oh snaps. Is he actually gonna be next? If so, we need to figure out how to make textures glow in the dark for his "beam katana" :D
-I have all the models from the game
-the new SH pack is still in the works, it will be more EPIC then this ;) (imagine SH2, SH3, SH4, SH5) oh yes...
-no travis isn't coming anytime soon. I'm fixing up Noami and moving onto Jeane next.
-Badgirl is NOT finalized, the damn model won't run under gmod9! only gmod10 :(
-MrWhiteFolk, will you please remove the URL to my site. I want DM to be private.
-lastly SOURCE doesn't handle any lighting at all. but it does support self illumination. so in a sort I can make the beam glow in the dark.
here's an early render (no fancy render settings)

DM2 link removed per request by site owner.

GOD DAMN. That looks spectacular.
Honestly, if you can get these as working player models, I'd pay good money. I mean, if it was your intellectual property, which it isn't... )':
But seriously, this looks incredible. I'm wondering whether you've touched up the model at all in terms of textures becuase it looks more like an Xbox360 model than a Wii model.
I guess that's just because I'm looking at a nicely alised model rather than the lack of aliasing you get on the Wii.
That is, of course, if you guys did rip the geometry and textures from the Wii. I'm only assuming that becuase they look exactly like the models. There's just something about these that just screams a higher standard of quality than Wii.
How big are the files uncompressed so far?
There's just something about these that just screams a higher standard of quality than Wii.
The quality of these models is normally due to the lack of being able to mimic the cel shading filter from the wii perfectly (in turn, you see the models WITHOUT cel shading). Now, I'm not one to bash a titles aesthetic design choices as NMH was a great game and had a wonderful feel to it that matched it's comic book "look" - but it's very apparent when looking at these models that this game truly didn't start out as a Wii title (I've heard many times that it was originally supposed to show up on a Microsoft console). It would make sense then, to note that with the jump to the Wii, all they really did was add on a slick Killer-7 style cel shader (and possibly drop the poly count).
Personally, I enjoy both versions of these models - but I can easily see where the love (and hate) is coming from with them being shown off in their non cel shaded state (some love these due to how great they look WITHOUT the shader, while some hate them because they aren't the exact same way the models are represented on the actual Wii title).

I think they both look amazing. However, these in the right environment without the cel shading would look incredible. Which is why I can't wait for a GMOD port.
But it's not that they look worse on the Wii. It's all stylized when it's on the Wii. Not only that, there's a lack of Aliasing that just can't be rendered on that system, wheras you can render everything beautifully here.
It's the best the Wii can do and I love it.
But this is the best the PC can do...
And I'm MARRYING IT.
God, why did they choose to put this game on the Wii instead of the 360 like they originally wanted to? ):
The SDKs are better on the 360 AND they're just as cheap.
dark matter says its offline again! man i'm pissed... I want those models SOOOOO BAD!!!! it's just plain mean!
Oh, and just a little tip for the Shinobu model.
If you get time, try to remove the edges from Shinobu's hair. Even in the game, the model doesn't appear to have the black lines that are currently around it.
Apart from that, I have faith that the No More Heroes pack will be the greatest thing in history.

Okay, I'm going to ask that stupid question:
If you have ported James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2 yet, can you give us a little glimpse of that ragdoll, please? ;)
I've got two different possible screens to pick from for BadGirl's official release (when it happens) and I don't know which one to go with, so I want some feedback. No, not on the editing or posing, but more along the lines of which one fits within the context of the character/would be appropriate for being the 'real' promo image.
Option 1: Far more close to what I do normally for release images, and it's a lot more 'release friendly' as there's nothing overtly offensive going on here. Just Bad Girl relaxing on a flight of stairs. It's simple and it shows off the model without needing me to go overboard with massive amounts of editing (thus, keeping the focus on the model and not the effects). Don't get me wrong, there's plenty done to this image (cleaning up edges, fixing clipping, color reworking, etc) but it's a far more standard shot and I think it fits the idea of a 'promo image' pretty well.
Option 2:
Way more "over the top" with added photoshop work, effects, blood, etc. It feels a little too "forced" in how it's presented (but some may still like it) and I think the secondary model in the shot takes away from the fact that Bad Girl is the focal point. However, I did spend a shitload of time on this and have a soft spot for it due to how much editing I actually did (re: the second model's face is NOT pose-able by default, so the squints, eyebrows, mouth, etc are all done up in post production)
Personally I'm leaning towards Option 1 myself, and the secondary image could just be thrown up in my gallery as a "hey, this is neat too" type of thing - but I would like to hear what you guys have to say on the matter.
Option 1 probably.
Freaky, I just posted a screenshop of a reskin of that model in the backround. :v:
Epic picture, were can I get the Rebeca model?

Whilst both are very nice, I nitpick on this a lot. So I'll give some crits of both of them.
Option 1 looks great. However, I feel as if there should be some sort of distance fade so that the face is nicely detailed but the rest of the body is blurred, almost like taking a very nice camera shot. The reason for this is because the textures on her legs, her laces and such do not look as good as the textures on other parts of her body. The pose is great though and is a very good promo image nonetheless.
Option 2 is great with all the photoshopped blood and the gore and everything that makes Bad Girl what she is; A homicidal maniac.
But I feel that using another model that isn't from the No More Heroes franchise, or even just another model in general, is a bad move and makes the model feel less impressive than it obviously is.
The first one is great but I feel like you could do much better.
You could always find her reference picture (The concept art) and try one of the poses from there on a white background, blood splatters and just a description.
I feel that would look the best.

OMGZZZZ!!!1!!!!1111!!!!!
That is the coolest picture
kenashcorp:
While normally I would've done that - in this case I want to keep it within my own 'trappings', if you will of the sense of style and posing that I normally do (that, and I'm usually one to stray from directly recreating a pose that everyone has seen - but that's just me). In turn, I think I'm going to just go with the more singular shot of BG as a way to keep it simplistic, while at the same time it's focused on the model itself and not the extra 'fixins' of blood, gore, and special effects.
However, I do appreciate the feedback (I thought the exact same thing about the shot with two characters, as without another NMH character to bounce off of, it just ended up feeling cheap and forced) and your input on the situation at hand. :D

elitism
Mariokart thinks he has some right over these models even though all he does is warez them then port them.
1) DM is currently locked down because the site doesn't really focus on the GMod aspect of 3d modeling anymore, and as such there's not really a dedicated area available where you can download GMod related stuff. It's all 3ds type stuff and animation nowadays.
2) Let's keep the "we hate so and so when he doesn't give us anything, but the second he releases models we love him (and vice versa)" crap out of my thread, thanks (we should be focusing on cool screenshots, request ideas, etc).
3) Thanks for the congratulations on the Kotaku news guys, it came as one hell of a shock to me, that's for damn sure. I sorta feel obligated to do up a big "THANKS KOTAKU" type image now, given all the free press they've sent my way.
Also - my ghetto tutorial on color/tone adjustment for those that want a quick solution to some effects (the key here is "subtlety"):

Well then do tell us when he decides to make this site
http://darkmatter2.de-coder.net/index.php?
open to others,
since he is so generous.
If you're so offended by this guy - then why don't you message him directly instead of bringing all the drama to my screenshot thread? He IS active on FP again and I'm sure you can send him a PM with a simple click of the mouse.
I just double checked and it looks like it's off that page - not sure if it got taken down or if I'm just full blown retarded, either way I apologize for the mishap. :(
