[editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
time to go find the phong for those models and disable the piss out of it
[editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
actually, wait 15 for a revised and improved version. if this works.
[editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
2 more versions. removed phong, changed track texture, nerfed the dof a bit and pulled camera out slightly and tilted it.
[url=http://www.project-new-hope.com/upload/images/general/rnl_stemariedumont0026%20(2).jpg]first version with intermediate dof[/url]
[url=http://www.project-new-hope.com/upload/images/general/rnl_stemariedumont0027%20(2).jpg]second version with least dof[/url]
That looks beautiful, Ross.
cheers
i'm going to edit it myself at some point but i'd love to see some of the guys here take a pass at it. my style is pretty set in stone at this point and variety is cool.

It's terribly scrunched blurry.

How is this blurry to you? There are no blur effects on the photo.

Amazing! Cheers for the edit.
I did some more scifi stuff tonight actually

I'll post up the other poses I did tomorrow (crashed but I kept the save so I just gotta reload and screenshot)
For now if anyone decides to pick up this one, a cool scifi muzzleflash and some bug-blood effects would be much obliged.

I wasn't to pleased how this one turned out.
the blood is too 2D and static, it needs some motion blur relative to the direction of the exit wound. right now the exit wound is coming out in a direction that makes no sense too. consider the physics of your image if you want it to be believable
all the characters look like cardboard cutouts and almost like they have some sort of drop-shadow layer effect applied to them... not sure why you did that. if you're isolating your characters and dodging and burning them or messing with the contrast or whatever, make sure it matches the rest of the picture (unless they're at totally different depths to the camera, but i'm not gonna go into that now).
the background is too detailed. don't over-detail pictures. it's tempting to texture and sharpen the crap out of everything but it just ends up looking messy and distracting - the eye doesn't know where to look.
the vignetting is kinda unnecessary and too harsh. as a hint to everyone, don't just stick vignetting on every single picture like it instantly makes it more cinematic or artistic or something. if you're going to do it, do it subtly and only where it's necessary cos it's quickly becoming 2011's variation of horrible black letterboxes
the smoke is 2D and lacks shadows and highlights - smoke is not a flat lifeless substance that is magically unaffected by light, use dodge and burn to make it follow the rest of the picture's lighting.
good effort though. my bluntness should not ignore the fact that you show a lot of promise. keep experimenting and practising

For higher quality, I packed up several TGAs, light on/off and sdof on/off.

bro tip:
use the ak-74m or variants thereof for rifles, and things like the aks-74u (despite being a rifle technically) and pm-63 for submachine guns. seeing dudes in sov or russian gear with rifles that were replaced in the mid-late 70s and submachine guns from israel is kinda goofy, even for less spergy people.
fuckin' love the posing though. i might take a shot at that when i find some time

also fuck mediafire is a terrible site. fuck popups, especially the kind that get through popup blockers
Sorry. :c
But yeah, it's very early in the morning right now and it's not supposed to be completely realistic as it's a alternate timeline (kind off in the City of Death universe, made by Rick Vice and Angry Man).

I like it! The tracers are too thick though and too long.
