what is the appeal of this cross-over bullshit? I just don't get it.
If you don't get why people write 'fanfiction', don't try to understand this.
It's made by people who fap to this sorta thing,
for people who fap to this sorta thing.
I agree with ya,
just thought I'd let ya know,
you'd only end up worse off if you tried to 'get it'.
if you don't feign interest it's just flaming. :v:

This is supposed to be a SERIOUS crossover. I'm not going for anything silly here like what you've just suggested. Also, I'm doing this for fun. Don't be so negative if you don't understand the project.
The posing is fine, but I'm not particularly fond of the angles. Also, don't use GMod's bloom, it almost always looks awful. Overall, I see some promise and a good start.

Oh. I always thought shots would look better with bloom. Also, I'm not sure what makes a good angle.
Never mind, thanks for the advice.
Also, I'm not sure what makes a good angle.
I'm not a professional of anything by any means, but I personally think that comic panels should have a clear focus on something, as opposed to the screenshot fad, where people pack in the most detail and content they can.
For instance, in the first concept shot, there's no focus and the image seems more centered on showing off the background, which is awful from a story perspective if your characters are talking. In fact, one most easily notices Samus, Garrus and the others than the Rebel that's talking, even though the picture, in a comic, should focus in the character that's talking, unless you want to highlight one specific reaction in a panel. Concept shot 2 is better since you at least show Alyx talking, but it's still too spread out and the background is a bit distracting. As for the third, truth be told, it feels a bit amateurish to me - again, showing off too much instead of focusing on the character who's talking. It has too much of a fisheye lens effect and it's really anti-cinematic, it just looks a bit bland.
No need to thank me for advice, I like to offer my insight to those who wanna learn comics. I'm no big name in the field, but I think I can help with these pointers somewhat, it's easier than having to learn them by yourself.
Managed to make some time today and made another concept shot. I'm going to keep posting concept shots from time to time until at least April. If you want to keep up to date, rather than me bumping this thread, keep an eye on my DeviantArt profile: http://benoski.deviantart.com/

OK. This is NOT a bump, but I just want to give you an update regarding the story.
I've thought it over and changed a few bits and bobs, so here we go.
The reason why all the universes collided into one is that in each universe, there is a specific artifact that once activated, it will combine with the universe that has the MAIN artifact (still haven't decided yet which one it'll be yet!) At the beginning of the series, the artifact in the HL2 universe is activated, merging this universe with all the others. The catch is that once these artifacts are lit, they CAN'T be deactivated or destroyed, and this literally causes the universe-wide war. Aging is also HALTED in this universe, so the war has been going on for years, if not decades.
All the hero factions from each univers have banded together to create the Alliance, while all the villianous factions (Cerberus, Combine, Reapers, Galactic Empire, Hyperion etc.) have done the same to create the Union Order.
One of the reasons why this series is called WarZone: EARTH is that I plan to create different series set on different planets, whenever available. This current series is set on Earth, but there may be other locations for future series.
I also may want to point out how Delta Squad and the Galactic Empire both exist in the same universe. Since the Star Wars galaxy (in which aging still continues) is not our own, in that galaxy, while on a mission, Delta Squad come across a portal in which it transports them to our galaxy, with no way of getting back. Years later, the Empire find the same portal, and use it to join the Union Order and fight against the Alliance.
If you guys want, I'll add the Covenant as a third faction, as they have their own goal, and this causes a TEMPORARY alliance between the Alliance and the Union Order. Once the Covenant has been dealt with, it'll be back to business as usual.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are all the changed I've made so far. You can also check out two concept shots over at my DeviantArt page, which both revolve around the Alliance's attempt to rescue Benjamin who had been captured by Cerberus. I'll think about what makes Benjamin so important later.....
OK. I just want to apologize for keeping you all waiting on information regarding this. Only two things I want to say:
1. I know I've been disappointing you all when I say that the comic would start soon, but I promise it'll be ready to go by Easter (hopefully!). The main problems that are hampering this are 1. Improving my posing, 2. Thinking about ideas to include (and where to set them) and 3. Thinking of the dialogue.
2. I might plan to make it look like that the series goes away from Earth from time to time, so the name "WarZone: EARTH" may no longer be valid, but just in case, I'll rename the series. What do you guys think will be a better name?
Why don't you just start work on it instead of constantly updating this thread with no progress whatsoever. It's cool that you're doing a big crossover thing, but just do it instead of giving us meaningless updates and apologies for not starting already.
Just go do it, man.
Alright, fine! Just don't become impatient! I'm trying as hard as I can to start it, but the peer pressure on this is preventing me from doing so! I might actually start a different project with a smaller scope first, before I tackle this one.

You make it sound like you're entitled to make this comic. Don't stress it too much, the main part of making a comic is to have as much fun as you can. Besides, being worked up can seriously effect the production quality of the comic.

Don't rush yourself for us, no one is exactly ob edge for this it would seem.

Which is why I might start a smaller project before beginning this. This is a very ambitious project that I've been wanting to make for over a year, and I would hate it for me to get it out there, and receive negative feedback.
Sorry about the silence from me, but I've decided to start a comic with a much smaller scope first, before I take on this project.
I MIGHT do a panel or two from this comic later tonight.

You must be getting that pressure from elsewhere, because looking through this thread it doesn't seem like you've been pushed into this here. I announced a crossover project around the same time you did and while I ended up going a couple of months without a PC shortly afterwards, I hit it hard when I was back up and running. I understand the scope of something like this, because I'm going through it myself. While screenshots and scenebuilds are difficult to do properly (I couldn't do a good one), comics are a different animal. It's a lot of work and commitment. If you're finding it stressful or too much, then it's probably not the best project for you. Having looked over your concept shots, you've obviously got posing talent and I can tell you took in some of Mythos' advice about framing on important subjects. You've got the makings of a good comic here.
That said, I think it's good you decided to go with something smaller for now. But don't let all this go to waste. There's a decent amount of prep work in this thread.

Thanks. I'm still trying to come up with a story.....

Do one about the unknown son of Colonel Odessa Cubbage, who went into self-imposed "exile" to not shame his reputable father, even though the son is clearly more skilled than the big fat liar that rules over NLO. After Freeman's arrival to City 17, he mistakes a Breencast about "the One Free Man" as referring to his father, so he decides to make all the way back to the Coast to rescue Odessa. Hijinks ensue.
I dunno, sounds like a decent story to me.

Hey that sounds like a great ide----------------
Oh wait, you're already got a comic going with that same story in mind. Oh well...
