Iv never seen anything wrong with releasing dupes, especially if parented. Just don't see the point of it gathering dust in your dupe folder.

I think contraptions have come along way and are still progressing, if you lose a dupe it wouldn't really matter because chances are 2 months later or even sooner you will make something better. Don't know many people that get worse the more they play, except for .. hmm better not say.
